Russia demands answers from US ambassador over 'election interference,' as Moscow says it has proof of 'serious' sabotage efforts

Russian officials are waiting for an answer after presenting the American ambassador with a dossier on purported examples of US attempts to interfere in the country's upcoming elections, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, the top diplomat claimed that the evidence was compelling, and had been presented to Ambassador John Sullivan, who was summoned for a meeting on Friday. "The evidence was given to him," Lavrov said. "It is quite serious, really. We are still waiting for an answer from our American colleagues why this is happening."

The charges, he said, relate to the refusal of US tech companies to block access to prohibited content. Last week, Russia's digital watchdog, Roskomnadzor, issued a sternly worded warning to companies like Apple and Google, as well as VPN service providers Cloudflare and Cisco, in which it said the firms were violating the country's election laws.

The Banality of (Financial) Evil

cultural revolution
The financialized American economy and State are now totally dependent on a steady flow of lies and propaganda for their very survival. Were the truth told, the status quo would collapse in a putrid heap.

Go ahead and be evil, because everyone else is evil, too, because being evil serves everyone's interests far better than maintaining integrity, for integrity will cost you more than you can afford.

In other words, lying, fraud, embezzlement, misrepresentation of risk, material misrepresentation of facts, half-truths, the replacement of statements of fact with propaganda and spin: these are not the work of a scattered handful of sociopaths: they represent the very essence and heart of America's economic status quo.

Hannah Arendt coined the phrase the banality of evil to capture the essence of the Nazi regime in Germany: doing evil wasn't abnormal, it was normal. Doing evil wasn't an outlier of sociopaths, it was the everyday "job" of millions of people, and not just Nazi Party members.

Not naming evil is the key to normalizing evil. Evil must first and foremost be derealized (a key concept in the Survival+ critique), detached from our realization and awareness by naming it something innocuous.

Here is a telling excerpt from the book Triumph of the Market:
Normalization of the unthinkable comes easily when money, status, power, and jobs are at stake.... Intellectuals will be dredged up to justify their (actions). The rationalizations are hoary with age: government knows best, ours is a strictly defensive effort, or, if it wasn't me somebody else would do it. There is also the retreat to ignorance, real, cultivated, or feigned.

Cameras installed at Iran's nuclear sites under JCPOA deactivated after other parties fail to honor commitments

FILE PHOTO: An Iranian technician walks through the Uranium Conversion Facility just outside the central city of Isfahan 255 miles (410 kilometers) south of the capital Tehran, Iran.
The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) says the cameras installed at the country's nuclear sites as part of the 2015 nuclear deal were deactivated due to the failure of the other parties to live up to their commitments.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday on the sidelines of a meeting of the Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, Mohammad Eslami said that under regulations of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Safeguards Agreement, the agency's cameras record data at Iran's nuclear sites just like other sites across the world.

"In addition to the obligations that Iran needs to undertake under the Safeguards Agreement and it needs to be transparent, a number of cameras were installed as part of the JCPOA. However, the other parties did not honor their commitments, so there was no need to keep the cameras," he explained.

Comment: With regards to the nuclear deal, Iran doesn't have much room to manoever, and if the West and its allies were so concerned about developments like that then it should behoove them to get them back to the negotiating table. Alas, it's likely that part of the real reason behind the JCPOA game is as much about containing Iran, and, by-proxy, its business partners, like China, as it is about genuine concerns over its enrichment program:

Senator demands to know "Who cuts off Biden's mic?"; "We need to know who's in charge"; "This is a puppeteer act"

Leftists claim that it's 'absurd,' 'bizarre' and 'ridiculous' to suggest Biden is being muted by someone during live streams, despite clear evidence.

Republican Senator James Risch demanded Tuesday to know who is in charge of cutting off Joe Biden's microphone when he goes off script, as has been witnessed several times over the past few months.

During a hearing before the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, Risch asked Secretary of State Anthony Blinken who is "calling the shots?"

"One of the things we need to get to the bottom to is who is responsible for this? Who made the decisions?" Risch said, referring to Biden's Afghanistan debacle. The Senator then added that Biden "can't even speak without someone in the White House censoring it or signing off on it."

UK cabinet shuffle: Raab gifted deputy prime minister job despite holidaying at beach during Afghan evacuation

Mr Raab becomes justice Secretary, Lord Chancellor and deputy prime minister - after tussle with Boris Johnson
Dominic Raab has been demoted from the post of foreign secretary - but handed the title of deputy prime minister, in an apparent consolation prize.

He will become the justice Secretary, Lord Chancellor and deputy prime minister, in the first Cabinet appointment made by Boris Johnson.

Mr Raab has been in the firing line since staying on holiday in Crete as Afghanistan fell to the Taliban and for criticism of his department's handling of the crisis.

Comment: Whilst maneuvers like this can provide clues as to some of the jockeying behind the scenes and who is the next favorite to become the establishment mouth piece, as we've seen over the past 17+ months of internationally coordinated, nonsensical lockdowns, with much testing of the totalitarian waters and shameless backtracking, the ones making the real decisions aren't in the public eye, and the agenda they're working towards is not guided by a democratic mandate.

Further, judging by politicians' profiteering, brazen deception and hypocrisy, during this manufactured crisis, it would appear that much of the political class suffer from character disorders: And check out SOTT radio's:

UK government says vaccine passports integral to COVID winter plan day after they were supposedly scrapped

24 hour flip flop.

The UK government has insisted that vaccine passports will remain an integral tool in fighting the spread of COVID just a day after health secretary Sajid Javid asserted that they had been completely scrapped.

Well, that didn't take long.

During his media rounds yesterday morning, Javid said that vaccine passports represented a "huge intrusion into people's lives," adding, "I am pleased to say that we will not be going ahead."

Comment: More from Leicestershire Live:
Prime Minister Boris Johnson made a national address from No.10 this afternoon to sell his England winter Covid plan to the public.

Earlier in the day, the Government announced its Plan A and Plan B to combat the pandemic over the coming months.

Plan A is for the state we are in now, while Plan B will be brought in if the situation gets worse.

The rules will apply in England, with the devolved nations deciding what rules to apply.

Under Plan A, the Government will remove more of its powers but retain some it deems "essential" for responding to the pandemic.

The worst measures will be kept in reserve, including mandating vaccine passports in some venues and forcing face masks to be mandatory by law once again in shops and on public transport.

Also under Plan B, people would be encouraged to work from home. And a lockdown is not ruled out - though it is an absolute last resort.

...

Mr Johnson stressed that he could not "rule out completely" the possibility of imposing mandatory vaccine passports.

"We do not see the need now to proceed, for instance, with mandatory certification.

"It's just not sensible to rule out completely this kind of option now when we must face the fact that it might still make the difference between keeping business open at full capacity or not."

'Largely inaccurate tripe': Al Gore's 'An Inconvenient Truth', fifteen years on

al gore

"An Inconvenient Truth" by Al Gore, 2006.
Al Gore's climate change movie was hailed as revolutionary a decade and a half ago when it was released to much fanfare but, in the intervening years, the truths have, inconveniently, turned out to not be truths at all.

Fifteen years ago today, failed US presidential candidate, Al Gore, released what can be best described as a scare movie called 'An Inconvenient Truth: The Planetary Emergency of Global Warming And What We Can Do About It'. The movie was a global hit and Gore won an Oscar; he also received the Nobel Peace Prize.

Gore had succeeded in making global warming sexy. Everyone wanted to get in on the act to show how eco-friendly they were, particularly celebrities. And everyone else had to sign up to the agenda because, as we still hear so often today, "the science is settled."

Three former US intelligence operatives accused of helping UAE spy on enemies

Three former US intelligence operatives, who went to work as mercenary hackers for the United Arab Emirates, are facing federal charges of conspiring to violate hacking laws, according to justice department court documents filed on Tuesday.

The three men, Marc Baier, Ryan Adams, and Daniel Gericke, are accused of having been part of a clandestine unit named Project Raven, first reported by Reuters, that helped the United Arab Emirates spy on its enemies.

The defendants are also being charged with violating military export restrictions.

EU to prioritize GLOBAL vaccination, von der Leyen says in State of EU address

Leyen

Ursula von der Leyen said 2022 would be "another test of character for the EU"
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the EU's vaccination drive was done "the right way" and vowed to donate 200 million COVID-19 vaccine doses to low-income countries.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen gave her annual State of the European Union address to the European Parliament on Wednesday, where she said the coming year would be "another test of character for the EU."

Comment: It's unlikely there could be a more out of touch comment considering the suffering people have endured for the last 17 months.

Her speech addressed the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, steps the EU took to slow the spread of the virus and the bloc's future plans for vaccinations.

Comment: Biden is rumoured to also be announcing a scheme to 'slow down Covid', what are the chances that it will be sinisterly similar to the EU's? Biden to announce 'new steps to slow Covid-19' ahead of UN meeting - Surgeon General

China's Marxist 'profound revolution' is here and nobody in the West is ready

Chinese claw
Pro-Fund or Profound Revolution?

Summary
  • Developments in China continue to confound market optimists, with new talk of a "profound revolution" towards a new target of "Common Prosperity"
  • Rather than simply react to these events, we analyze the history of Marxist-Leninist-Maoist Thought to try to put current moves under Xi Jinping Thought in a larger context
  • This also provides a framework of a hypothetical Marxist policy path forwards
  • We briefly discuss the meaning of Common Prosperity over time, and how it is a bellwether
  • We conclude with likely market reactions to an economy not saying "because markets"
"Profound Revolution"?

Political developments in China have been front page news in the financial press over the past few months. Beijing's crackdown on Ant Financial, largely dismissed by Wall Street, then spread to Didi and on to the broader sectors these championed, fin- and transport-tech; then it grew to encompass swathes of the economy, from tech to health to education to property to private equity to gaming.

In terms of tech, there are now sharp limits on IPOs in the US (mirrored from the US side) and new algo/pricing and data regulations that require Beijing to hold on to it; the private tuition field was made non-profit; there has been a sharp reduction in credit to property developers along with the official message that "houses are for living in, not speculation", and rental increase caps of 5% annually; under-18s have been limited to just 3 hours of computer gaming a week, in allotted slots; and private equity has been cut off from residential investment.

Beijing has also called for curbs on "excessive" income, and for the wealthy and profitable firms "to give back more to society." (Tencent already pledged $15bn.) This is also matched by: a social campaign against excessive business drinking, "unpatriotic" karaoke songs, and celebrity culture; 'Xi Jinping Thought' made obligatory at all schools and universities; and, as Bloomberg puts it, controls on social media financial commentary - "China to Cleanse Online Content that 'Bad Mouths' its Economy".

This has all taken place under the slogan of "Common Prosperity". (And for those who need the market-facing implications of this first, please see What is to be done?)
