ICE Is deporting an Ohio father of severely disabled child

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Ohio plan to move ahead with the deportation of Pedro Hernandez-Ramirez on Thursday, despite repeated pleas for leniency from his family, community members, and the local Catholic diocese.

Hernandez-Ramirez, an undocumented Mexican immigrant, has spent the past 14 years caring for Juan, his 28-year-old stepson, who has both severe mental disabilities as well as limited mobility due to cerebral palsy. His impending deportation will leave his American-born wife Seleste Wisniewski as Juan's sole caretaker-a role she says she is physically unable to perform.

"I can't lift [Juan] up," Wisniewski told Fox 8 Cleveland. "I can't do it. My husband does all of that. I never thought I would have to think about that."

Advocates for Hernandez-Ramirez had staged a last-minute campaign to persuade ICE to grant a stay of deportation before Thursday's deadline. Officials from the agency denied the request, explaining that Hernandez-Ramirez had been deported several times before.

In 2015, Hernandez-Ramirez was granted a work visa-in part thanks to his role as caregiver to Juan-permitting him to stay in the country through this coming February, at which point, he was told, he could reapply for an extension.

'Sorry it was a mistake' not good enough! US airstrike wounds 6 in Afghan's family, claims defective missile

Ghulam Rabani witnessed a US airstrike destroy his house in residential Kabul, injuring six of his family members, including four children. NATO expressed regret over the Wednesday bombing, but the family told RT's Ruptly video agency it's not enough.

Rabani showed Ruptly the destruction at his house, with missile fragments lying on the ground.

He said he saw American helicopters bomb the house Wednesday afternoon, shortly after an attack on Kabul airport, which the Taliban and the Islamic State terrorist group's local affiliate later claimed responsibility for.

Rabani, who lives around three kilometers (or 1.8 miles) away from the airport, said there were no Taliban or Daesh, another name for Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) in his house.

"I am a taxi driver," Rabani, 49, told Ruptly. "They fired a 60-kilogram rocket at my children. They wanted my life, why? I am not a terrorist."

NATO's Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan expressed regret for the "harm to noncombatants" caused by the US airstrike and blamed a defective missile, according to AFP.

Comment: The US considers the death and maiming of civilians and destruction of property to be 'collateral damage'. Lives amount to a statistical number next to a line item.

The judge who spared an Oxford University student from jail after she admitted to stabbing her then boyfriend is being investigated by a judicial watchdog. It comes after he ruled the young woman was simply "too clever" to be behind bars.

A spokesman from the Judicial Conduct Investigations Office (JCIO) confirmed on Friday that it had received a complaint against Judge Ian Pringle QC, who earlier this week handed Lavinia Woodward a suspended sentence for her crime, citing her intellect and potential.

"The JCIO can confirm they have received a complaint against HHJ Ian Pringle QC," the spokesperson said, as quoted by Sky News.

"Any findings of misconduct against judicial office holders are published on the JCIO website at the conclusion of investigations," he added.

Woodward, 24, was on trial for stabbing her ex-boyfriend with a bread knife, punching him in the face, and hurling a glass and a jam jar at him during an alcohol-fuelled rage in December 2016.

High school footballers face suspension for 'taking a knee' during anthem

The ACLU has condemned several Louisiana school boards for threatening to punish student players who mirror the wave of protests taking place in the NFL by taking a knee during the national anthem.

"Bossier Parish is threatening to punish students for peacefully protesting racial injustice and taking a principled position for freedom and equality. This is antithetical to our values as Americans and a threat to students' constitutional rights,"ACLU of Louisiana Executive Director, Marjorie Esman, said in an online statement, condemning both Bossier Parish School District and Parkway High School.

"Nearly 75 years ago, the Supreme Court rightly held that state schools have no business forcing students to stand for patriotic rituals," Esman added. "Schools have no valid interest in turning their students into mouthpieces of government speech, full stop."

The murder of an 18-year-old woman at a Bristol care home could have been prevented, according to a case review. The attacker had exhibited "aggressive and sexualized behavior" since childhood, and his victim had told staff she was afraid of him.

Melissa Mathieson, who had attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism, lived at the Alexandra House residential home, which looks after people with autism spectrum disorders including Asperger's syndrome.

In October 2014, she was strangled by one of her fellow residents. Jason Conroy, also 18, had a necrophilia fetish and dreamed of having sex with a dead woman.

However, her death could have been prevented, according to a serious case review by Bristol Safeguarding Adults Board (BSAB), which found that she had complained to staff about Conroy mere hours before she met her tragic fate.

Nearly five million young people have volunteered to join or re-enlist in the North Korean military to fight Washington, KCNA state news agency reports. It says the volunteers want to send "millions" of nuclear bombs to wipe out the US.

Earlier, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un vowed to "tame" US President Donald Trump "with fire."

The volunteers have gathered and said: "Let's send 5 million nuclear bombs to blow the evil empire [apparently the US] from Earth without a trace!" KCNA reported.

Some 1.22 million women also reportedly promised to volunteer. However, it's not yet clear if this number is already included in the 4.7 million figure.

Militant normals: The replacement for Conservative, Inc.

Mitt Romney
© Associated PressMitt Romney
I guess now we're not supposed to be fighting culture wars anymore - man, it's so hard to keep up with these ever-changing new rules! I'm old enough to remember way back to 2016, before Trump got nominated, and I could have sworn Conservative Inc., was gung-ho for the whole culture war thing. But then Trump actually fought it, taking on the big, soft target that is the spoiled, semi-literate athletes who like to rub their contempt for the flag we love in our faces in the guise of woke wokedness. Now we suddenly discover that fighting back is horribly uncouth and déclassé and "Oh, well I never!"

Gosh, I would have thought from all those cruise panels about how our crumbling culture is slouching toward Babylon and the need to resist the liberal onslaught that maybe we ought to actually resist the liberal onslaught, but see, that was my mistake. I took it seriously when Conservative, Inc., promised to fight the leftist blitzkrieg against normal Americans. It was all a scam, a lie, a pose for us rubes. The Tru Cons didn't actually mean it.
