Sergei Skripal's niece again denied visa by Britain: Relatives fear daughter has been abducted

The niece of ex-spy Sergei Skripal has had her visa request to Britain refused for a second time. The Russian national was hoping to visit her relatives, Sergei and Yulia Skripal both of whom were poisoned with a nerve agent.

Responding to the denial, a Home Office spokesperson said: "We have refused a visa application from Viktoria Skripal on the grounds that she did not meet the requirements of the immigration rules."

Comment: The longer this goes on, the worse it looks for the UK.

Declassified DOD report warns of the dangers of an EMP attack

A newly declassified report by the recently re-established Commission to Assess the Threat to the from Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Attack warns that the threat posed by an EMP attack could jeopardize "modern civilization," return a lifestyle last seen in the 1800's and leave millions of people dead across the United States.

The executive report, entitled Assessing the Threat from Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP), predicts that the smallest EMP attack on the US electrical grid could have a devastating effect on the supply chain for at least a year or more - depending upon the scale of the attack - starving much of the country of electricity, water, food, transportation and telephone/internet service.

"A long-term outage owing to EMP could disable most critical supply chains, leaving the U.S. population living in conditions similar to centuries past, prior to the advent of electric power," said the newly declassified July 2017 report.

"In the 1800s, the U.S. population was less than 60 million, and those people had many skills and assets necessary for survival without today's infrastructure. An extended blackout today could result in the death of a large fraction of the American people through the effects of societal collapse, disease, and starvation. While national planning and preparation for such events could help mitigate the damage, few such actions are currently underway or even being contemplated," added the executive summary.

In August 2012, Ecuador granted WikiLeaks founder, director and editor-in-chief Julian Assange asylum in its London embassy - granting him citizenship in December 2017. He's been there since June 2012. If he steps out of the embassy, Washington wants him arrested and extradited to America.

Whistleblowers exposing government wrongdoing are endangered in the US. Anyone exposing its high crimes and/or other dirty secrets is vulnerable. Challenging the nation's policies, no matter how heinous, risks severe punishment.

As CIA director, neocon extremist Mike Pompeo falsely accused Assange of causing "great harm to our nation's national security." He lied calling WikiLeaks "a non-state hostile intelligence service often abetted by state actors like Russia."

In 2012, a secret grand jury convened. A sealed indictment followed, allegedly accusing Assange of spying under the long ago outdated 1917 Espionage Act, enacted shortly after America's entry into WW I - used to prosecute, convict and imprison Chelsea Manning.

Pakistan asks Iran to restart gas pipeline negotiations after defaulting on the deal

Pakistan has invited neighbouring Iran to resume the stalled talks over the Iran-Pakistan Gas Pipeline project, Pakistan's local media reports said on Tuesday.

The News quoted a senior official at the Petroleum Division of the Ministry of Power as saying that the Islamabad has extended an invitation to Tehran to visit Pakistan and conduct negotiations on the Gas Pipeline Project before the Holy month of Ramadan, which sets in during the third week of May.

Pakistan and Iran had signed the Gas Sales Purchase Agreement (GSPA) in 2009, according to which Pakistan was liable to pay a fine of $1 million per day if it was unable to take gas supplies from Iran. With the gas pipeline project hitting the roadblocks, Iran sought $1.2 billion in damages from Pakistan in February this year as per the penalty clause from January 1, 2015.

Comment: Case in point on the reliability of Pakistan to hold up its end of a bargain and its ability to navigate regional pressures from outside the country.

The death toll in Gaza increased dramatically on Monday as Israeli Defense Forces opened fire on thousands of Palestinian civilians, killing 41 and injuring at least 1,700, and the United States' response served as a reminder that if the governments in Iran, Syria, North Korea or Russia had done the same thing, the U.S. would be calling for a full-scale invasion right now.

It is hypocrisy at its finest, especially considering the fact that the U.S. has a history of cheering on and aiding protests against foreign governments. In fact, when the mainstream media began sharing reports of protests in Iran in December 2017, President Trump took to Twitter to cheer on the dissidents.
"The people are finally getting wise as to how their money and wealth is being stolen and squandered on terrorism," Trump wrote, claiming that the United States was "watching very closely for human rights violations!"

Condom use, anal sex, and a glossary from Planned Parenthood that contains terms like BDSM and necrophilia are just some of the things the Sunnyside Unified District in Tucson, Ariz., thinks are appropriate for children to learn about, starting as young as 11.

A press release from Liberty Counsel, a nonprofit that defends traditional values in court, details the shocking curriculum designed by Advocates for Youth, a partner of Planned Parenthood.

Unsurprisingly, Advocates for Youth heavily promotes abortion, and has the following stance on the issue: "Young women need the right to safe and legal abortion ... United States policies contribute to an anti-choice climate and limit young women's access to abortion. No young woman, anywhere, should be forced to seek out an illegal, dangerous procedure or carry a pregnancy she didn't want to term."

One of the goals of the curriculum, at least for 12thgraders, is to teach proper condom use - including for anal sex.

Liberty Counsel notes there has never been a condom approved for use by the FDA for this dangerous sexual activity.

Poll: 79% of French think Islamic veil opposes their values

An overwhelming majority of French do not think that the hijab belongs in French society, according to a poll by Marianne le Mag magazine.

A total of 79% consider the Islamic veil as being the "opposite of the French civic values".

When asked about the Islamic veil worn by muslim woman, Emmanuel Macron, the French president said it is "the opposite of the French civic values", in a TV interview on April 15th.


His statement sparked a huge controversy in France, where the largest Islamic community in Europe lives, and any public debate related to Islam leads generally to trouble (as we reported here, with the French author, Eric Zemmour, being fined when he talked of "an Islamic invasion in France").

Note from the editor: Is she real or is she an irresistible propaganda concoction? The Guardian's former Middle East editor speculated in an April article investigating her that she is "mysterious and possibly fictitious".

We've made it clear here at RI that as long as someone is doing serious journalism, we don't care if they are using an avatar or not. We regularly publish SyrianGirl, who is real, although accused of being a bot, (we've met her), and Sophie Mangal (who apparently is not, but she does good work).

Whoever she is, she's very bright and interesting and very good at making the BBC look very dumb. Regular contributor Daniele Pozzati catches up with the lovely Sarah.

The BBC described Sarah Abdallah as "one of the most influential Twitter users commenting on (...) the conflict in Syria", and her follower count, now in excess of 134K, as "comparable to BBC journalists who regularly report on Syria".

Not fond of such competition, the BBC dismissed Sarah and other Twitter users who challenge mainstream narratives as "online activists pushing conspiracy theories".

Comment: Let's not forget about Ian56, Syrian Girl and Citizen Halo (just to name a few). They must be doing something right if the mainstream media went as far as to smear them for simply opposing the 'official' narrative. Woman accuses cop of racism, police counter with bodycam footage that reveals otherwise

A South Carolina woman named Dawn Hilton-Williams posted a video to Facebook Live on April 27 in which she accuses a Virginia cop who pulled her over for a speeding violation of being a "racist." In the tearful rant, which soon went viral, Hilton-Williams describes the interaction as a lynching and invokes the name of Sandra Bland, a black woman who killed herself in her jail cell after a traffic stop.


Comment: Suicide seems unlikely, though the circumstances surrounding Sandra Bland's death were highly dubious.


"I was just bullied by a racist cop," claims Hilton-Williams in the 11-minute video. "This is where we got lynched. This is where we got lynched, even in today's day."

She continues: "I mean pulling you out of a car doesn't seem like a big deal, but when you are African-American and you get pulled out of the car you get shot or you get tased, or you get Sandra Bland-ed. ... I said 'I'm not putting my signature on that ticket.' He said 'if you don't sign this ticket, then I'm going to pull you out of the car and I'll arrest you, and I'll impound the car.'"

After the video was posted, many concerned citizens called the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office with questions and outrage. This prompted the sheriff's office to release the full video of the traffic stop, which paints a very different picture than what Hilton-Williams' describes. Contrary to the woman's claim, the deputy never threatened to "pull" her out of her car when she refused to sign the summons and there are no references or innuendos to race or racial antipathy.

Bail set for Boston firefighter charged with child rape

A Boston firefighter accused of sexually assaulting a minor last week has been ordered held on $50,000 cash bail.

Firefighter Samuel Perez Rosado, 38, who works at the Engine 10/Tower Ladder 3 company, was arrested while on duty Sunday after police say he had sexual intercourse with a child between the ages of 12 and 16 this past Friday, according to court paperwork.

Perez Rosado has been working for the department for between five and six years and is currently on administrative leave, fire officials said.

He was arraigned Monday in South Boston District Court on charges of rape of a child and assault and battery, a spokesman for the Suffolk DA's office said.
