A Russian soldier has died in Syria as he prevented a car packed with explosives from reaching the humanitarian aid distribution point in Homs province, the Defense Ministry said.

"Sergeant Andrey Timoshenkov, who was escorting a humanitarian convoy of the Russian Reconciliation Center, has stopped a car rigged with explosives by opening fire at it with small arms. Andrey received injuries incompatible with life in the explosion of the vehicle driven by a suicide bomber," the ministry said.

The doctors at Russian Khmeimim airbase in Latakia province fought for Timoshenkov's life for over 24 hours, but he passed away on Thursday, June 16, it added.

The command has presented Sergeant Timoshenkov with a posthumous state award.

According to the Russian media, the deceased serviceman was a marine from Russia's exclave Kaliningrad Region.

Russia has lost 11 troops since beginning its anti-terrorist operation in Syria on September 30, 2015, at the request of the country's president, Bashar Assad.

Comment: This Russian soldier sacrificed his life to help save many with Russian aid yet the US accuses Russia of preventing aid reaching Syrians.

Pakistani man murdered by his in-laws in rare male 'honor killing'

honor killing protest
A man's throat was slit by relatives of his wife who disapproved of their marriage in the latest "honour killing" to hit Pakistan, police said Saturday.

Hundreds of women are murdered by relatives in Pakistan each year on the pretext of defending what is seen as family honour, but it is rare for victim to be a man.

The murder happened at a marketplace in the Punjab city of Burewala on Friday, when Muhammad Irshad, 43, was attacked by his father-in-law and two brothers in-law, police said.

Fast food teams up with big brother in the surveillance state

Fast food surveillance

Big Brother is watching you and he wants you to believe that if you have nothing to hide, then you have nothing to fear from the surveillance state.

This is a lie, of course. As we move deeper into the era of state-sponsored and corporate technological surveillance, we see the resulting evidence of individuals' loss of privacy and a transformation to a more compliant and self-policing society.

A new effort by Domino's Pizza Enterprises to start tracking their customers via satellite is a perfect example of just how eager corporations are to participate in the surveillance state. These efforts are always justified, using reasons such as improved customer service or ability to deliver a higher quality product. But the reality is that now Domino's is going to start tracking their customers' every move between the time they place their order to the time they pick it up, and thus collecting data on their personal life habits. To fight corporate power and the increasing chaos it unleashes, we must first understand it

corporate power
© (Mary Altaffer / APDemocratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is seen on a television monitor addressing her supporters, as reporters file their stories after a June 7 news conference by presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump.
In the winter of 1941, a Jewish gravedigger from Chelmo, the western province of Poland, appeared in Warsaw and desperately sought a meeting with Jewish leaders.

He told them the Nazis were rounding up Jews, including the old, women and children, and forcing them into what looked like tightly sealed buses. The buses had the exhaust pipes redirected into the cabins. The Jews were killed with carbon monoxide. He had helped dig the mass graves for thousands of corpses until he escaped.

On the way to Warsaw, he had gone from village to village, frantically warning the Jews. Scores of Jews, in the villages and ultimately in Warsaw, heard his testimony of horror and dismissed it.

A handful of listeners, however, including Zivia Lubetkin, who two years later would help lead the uprising by 500 armed Jewish fighters in the Warsaw Ghetto, instantly understood the ultimate aims of the Nazi state.

"I don't know how we intuitively shared the same horrible conviction that the total annihilation of all the Jewish communities in Nazi-occupied Europe was at hand," she wrote in her memoir, "In the Days of Destruction and Revolt."

Comment: For those awake and aware enough to see how far gone society is, how ponerized our governments have become, how instability and chaos are the ever-growing rule rather than the exception, we have a double responsibility. The first is to keep ourselves healthy, safe and clear-minded enough to continue to see what is occurring. The second is to find strategically smart ways to share what we see with our brothers and sisters - to those of us who want to see reality as it really is and possibly help in shaping it. Physical, psychological and spiritual preparation for the increasing turmoil, and for those us who want to see a real future, are the order of the day.

Possible false flag operation in California comes to light

James Howell
© Get Off the BS
Two police officers who wish to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation say that James Wesley Howell, an Indiana man who was found with a car full of explosives and weapons on Sunday morning, told police he was part of a team that planned shooting attacks on gay communities in Florida and California.

Howell told police he was turning himself in because he wanted protection. His story was that he had been assured by his recruiters that he would not be harmed in the shooting but, when he heard on the news that Omar Mateen, the lead gunman in the Orlando group, had been killed by sniper fire, he realized he was being set up as a patsy and would be killed.

Soon after that, the FBI took over the investigation, and information to the public was filtered to remove any facts that might show the Orlando shooting as a planned event involving others.

G4S stocks fall after Orlando shooting - calls for boycotts, social action

g4s logo
We mourn with Orlando, Florida. We mourn as witnesses of the largest massacre on this continent since Wounded Knee in 1890.

In this mourning, we also see that we are galvanized by our sadness to rally together as small communities dotting the earth, as people rooted in our local places, our homes. We are inspired to undo systemic violence, which is why G4S stock prices fell when people learned that the Orlando shooter was an employee of the company. It is a sign that the world sees the direct links between corporate profit and mass violence.

We know that our struggles against supremacy and oppression are interconnected. We work for Friends of Sabeel North America (FOSNA), which is an organization working for justice in Palestine, and we are proud that this Christian organization stands in solidarity and mourning with our LGBTQ sisters and brothers.

Comment: Interestingly, G4S responded to pressure from the BDS movement: earlier this year they cancelled all their Israeli contracts, to be put into effect in 2017. On May 22 of this year, Public Security and Strategic Affairs Minister Gilad Erdan warned that companies like G4S "that take such politically-motivated decisions must pay a price, and they will." One thing's for sure, G4S is paying a price.

More Russian compassion: Rehabilitation summer camp for homeless launches near Moscow

moscow russia homeless program people on beach
About a hundred of Moscow's homeless are going to take part in a rehabilitation 'summer camp' program.

The homeless will be able to undergo a comprehensive rehabilitation program at a camp established on June 17 on the shores of Oka River in the vicinity of Moscow by a joint effort of the city administration and the charity NGO Mercy House.

Approximately 100 homeless people who voluntarily agreed to take part in the program will live in the camp where a team of clergymen, psychologists and drug therapists will attempt to help them deal with their problems and change their lifestyle, according to the Izvestia newspaper.
