US: Colorado Republican faces questions after she was granted immunity during a DUI stop

Colorado state Rep. Laura Bradford (R) was pulled over last week in Denver on the suspicion that she was driving under the influence. During the stop, she admitted to drinking and failed a field sobriety test, but cops claim they were unable to arrest her. Under an obscure state law, elected officials making their way between "legislative events" have immunity from prosecution and Bradford was given a cab home..

Bradford told police when she was pulled over at 10:00 pm that she was leaving a legislative event and had to be back at the state capital in the morning, which was reportedly enough to trigger the law - a law of which Bradford now claims to have been unaware. Denver police, however, say that Bradford refused to waive her immunity under the law when asked, since it would have resulted in her being taken into custody for a breath or blood test.

She's been suspended from her committee chair position and the House Speaker is looking into other punishments. Meanwhile, Senate Democrats are calling for the law to be amended.

Best of the Web: US Intel Director Prepares Public for False Flag Event

Desperate for war, US prepares to blame Iran for false flag attack.
"...it would be far more preferable if the United States could cite an Iranian provocation as justification for the airstrikes before launching them. Clearly, the more outrageous, the more deadly, and the more unprovoked the Iranian action, the better off the United States would be. Of course, it would be very difficult for the United States to goad Iran into such a provocation without the rest of the world recognizing this game, which would then undermine it. (One method that would have some possibility of success would be to ratchet up covert regime change efforts in the hope that Tehran would retaliate overtly, or even semi-overtly, which could then be portrayed as an unprovoked act of Iranian aggression.) "

-US foreign policy makers in the Fortune 500 funded Brookings Institution's "Which Path to Persia?" report, pages 84-85.
Considering that the Gulf of Token incident was a deliberate fabrication to escalate the Vietnam War, one many members in Congress are shown to have acknowledged and debated even at the time, or the more recent Iraqi WMD hoax, there is certainly a historical precedence to create such provocations when targeted nations refuse to provide them.

New Air Force One Tapes Give Insight on Kennedy Death

Image

The US National Archives has released long-lost recordings of the Air Force One flight back to Washington on the day of John F Kennedy's assassination.

The tapes contain 42 minutes of audio that was not included in the original public version.

It includes discussion about what to do with the slain president's body and a phone call to Rose Kennedy, his mother.

The material was donated by a rare documents dealer, who acquired it from the estate sale of a Kennedy aide.

The tapes provide new insight into the grief and confusion in the highest levels of the US government in the hours after Kennedy's shooting in Dallas, Texas, on Friday 22 November 1963.

Propaganda Alert: Iran, Perceiving Threat from West, Willing to Attack on U.S. Soil, U.S. Intelligence Report Finds

Image
© AP PhotoIran's supreme leader warned the United States and Israel that any attack on Iran's nuclear program would be met with the "iron fists of ... the great Iranian nation."
An assessment by U.S. spy agencies concludes that Iran is prepared to launch terrorist attacks inside the United States, highlighting new risks as the Obama administration escalates pressure on Tehran to halt its alleged pursuit of an atomic bomb.

In congressional testimony Tuesday, U.S. intelligence officials indicated that Iran has crossed a threshold in its adversarial relationship with the United States. While Iran has long been linked to attacks on American targets overseas, U.S. officials said they see troubling significance in Tehran's alleged role in a plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador in Washington last year.

Intelligence shows that Iran received foreign assistance to overcome key hurdles in acquiring technology that could lead to a nuclear weapon, according to the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Comment: It's clear the US Government is preparing the American Sheeple for yet another False Flag attack on US soil, this time to be blamed on imaginary Iranian "terrorists." The only real question is "Whose over-insured property will the CIA blow up this time to justify the mass slaughter of more brown people so the Elite can steal their natural resources?"

Could a large amusement park or something similar be next on our Corporate Masters' Terrorism ToDo list? A faked "terrorist" attack on such a target (with a significant death count) would create enough outrage to convince the moronic masses to send their own kids off to die in the name of oil profits, again ....and as a bonus, the pervs at the TSA could get a contract to fondle every child who wants to ride a roller coaster.

" ... the enduring power of our moral example, America is back."

- President Obama, State of the Union address, 24 January 2012

First the world was sold imaginary weapons of mass destruction in Iraq with General Colin Powell, at the United Nations in February 2003, asserting:
My colleagues, every statement I make today is backed up by sources, solid sources. These are not assertions. What we're giving you are facts and conclusions based on solid intelligence.
Now it seems the world is sold a withdrawal from Iraq which was not quite what it seemed as presented by the Panetta-Obama-fest in the Baghdad, Fort Bragg speeches of just six weeks ago. At Fort Bragg: "The war in Iraq will soon belong to history ..." said the President.

Well, not quite.

US: Mortgage giant Freddie Mac bet against homeowners: report

Image

US-owned mortgage giant Freddie Mac is holding billions of dollars in investments that only pay off if homeowners remain locked into high interest rates, a media investigation has found.

The report by the ProPublica website and National Public Radio on Monday said the mortgage giant began dramatically increasing such bets in 2010 at the same time it was making it more difficult for homeowners to refinance.

It said the trading arm of the firm is in theory "walled off" from its housing finance activities, which by government charter are to be directed at making home loans more accessible.

The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), which supervises Freddie, said in a statement to ProPublica that it had ordered a halt to such investments - known as "inverse floaters" - in December, following an internal assessment.

The assessment "had "identified concerns regarding the controls, including risk management," it said in a statement published in full by ProPublica.

Action Alert: Legislation Seeks to Censor Taxpayer-Funded Health Research

Restricted Access
© Natural Society

I recently reported on how a lobby group was formed in Australia that aims to take out all alternative medicine degrees from universities. Unfortunate news indeed, but there is a much more pressing matter that would negatively impact all natural and alternative health educators. Congress is trying to restrict your access to research so that you will only learn what the mainstream medical establishment wants you to learn. This legislation seeks to limit access to research that is paid for with your tax dollars, and could virtually censor your right to health research - that is until we find a way to rise above.

A new bill called the Research Works Act (HR 3699) was introduced thanks to the Association of American Publishers (AAP) just before the end of 2011. The bill would prevent agencies like the National Institutes of Health from allowing private-sector research work to be distributed online without consent from the publisher and study authors beforehand, even if the funding is coming from your tax dollars. This new bill would institute something completely opposite of what the National Institutes of Health required back in 2008, where all federally funded research publications were to be openly available.

Partnering with the AAP on this matter, publisher Elsevier - the Reed Elsevier Publishing Group which publishes about 2,000 journals and nearly 20,000 books and major reference works - made campaign contributions to the two members of congress who were persuaded to introduce this bill. The price for 2 members of congress to pass a bill? Evidently it only costs $10,500.

World Economic Forum to feature progress report from Nestlé-led initiative

Davos-Klosters, Switzerland - This January 26th, the water industry will privately review its newest strategy for driving public water resources into private hands at the World Economic Forum. A partnership quietly launched in October with funding from the World Bank, Coca-Cola and Veolia will report on progress towards its stated mission to "transform the water sector" by establishing "new normative approaches to water governance" that put the private sector in the driver's seat in water management.

Calling itself the Water Resources Group (WRG) and headed by Nestlé Chairman Peter Brabeck-Letmathei, the corporation has already targeted the countries of Mexico, Jordan, India and South Africa to "shape and test governance processes" that would make water privatization more feasible and profitable. The fact that the Group has not invited publicity, and the Bank was unwilling to comment upon its launch, underscores how controversial its founders know the endeavor to be.

Off the deep end: Canada's foreign minister stresses strong support for Israel

The foreign minister of Canada emphasized his country's staunch support of Israel.

"Israel has no greater friend in the world than Canada," John Baird said Monday at the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial museum.

Baird, on his third visit to Israel, also said that "Canada does not stand behind Israel; Canada stands shoulder to shoulder with Israel." He repeated the sentiments later in the day at a meeting with Israeli President Shimon Peres.

How Male Global Elites Work Hard to Fix the Economy - In Their Favor

On Sunday, 1 percenters left the World Economic Forum at Davos with bold plans to stay fat and happy while the world falls apart.

The pomp and the platitudes. The champagne and the canapés. In the tony ski resort of Davos, Switzerland, the gemütlich gathering of global leaders for the World Economic Forum seemed like business as usual...five days of hobnobbing and male-dominated, Euro-centric jaw-flapping on the economic state of the planet. A rich and rewarding experience for the rich and rewarded.

But what about this year's theme? Billed as "The Great Transformation," the WEF promised sessions on rethinking capitalism, reducing inequality and solving Europe's financial crisis. Founder Klaus Schwab opened the forum with a wise observation that capitalism needs to be fixed "to serve society." Was it possible that these leaders wanted change? Had they opened their ears to the 99 percent?

Guess it depends on which society and what you mean by fixed. Because in reality, the brochure should have read: "The Great Retrenchment: with sessions on denying capitalism's failures, staying rich despite inequality, and dumping Europe's financial crisis onto the backs of ordinary people."
