Best of the Web: Russia's gameplan against the Empire of Chaos

Is there any reason to expect the lifting of American sanctions?

The sanctions are an element of the hybrid war that the US is waging against us. They are doing this not because they do not like Russia's 'annexation' of the Crimea, but because of the objective and subjective interests of the American establishment.

The US is losing its hegemony : it is already producing fewer products and exporting fewer technologies than China. China is also catching up with America in the number of scientists and engineers, and many innovative Chinese technologies are capturing world markets. China's development rate is five times that of the US.The international system of economic entities recently set up in China exemplify the new world economic order.

The economic entities that dominate in the US, serving a financial oligarchy, have destabilized the American monetary and financial system, which defaults about twice a year. The causes of the global financial crisis of 2008 have not disappeared and the American debt bubble — financial pyramids composed of derivatives and the national debt —are still growing.

Best of the Web: From democracy to pathocracy: The rise of the political psychopath

"Politicians are more likely than people in the general population to be sociopaths. I think you would find no expert in the field of sociopathy/psychopathy/antisocial personality disorder who would dispute this... That a small minority of human beings literally have no conscience was and is a bitter pill for our society to swallow — but it does explain a great many things, shamelessly deceitful political behavior being one."—Dr. Martha Stout, clinical psychologist and former instructor at Harvard Medical School
Psychopaths rule our world
© Sott.net
Twenty years ago, a newspaper headline asked the question: "What's the difference between a politician and a psychopath?"

The answer, then and now, remains the same: None.

There is no difference between psychopaths and politicians.

Nor is there much of a difference between the havoc wreaked on innocent lives by uncaring, unfeeling, selfish, irresponsible, parasitic criminals and elected officials who lie to their constituents, trade political favors for campaign contributions, turn a blind eye to the wishes of the electorate, cheat taxpayers out of hard-earned dollars, favor the corporate elite, entrench the military industrial complex, and spare little thought for the impact their thoughtless actions and hastily passed legislation might have on defenseless citizens.

Psychopaths and politicians both have a tendency to be selfish, callous, remorseless users of others, irresponsible, pathological liars, glib, con artists, lacking in remorse and shallow.

Charismatic politicians, like criminal psychopaths, exhibit a failure to accept responsibility for their actions, have a high sense of self-worth, are chronically unstable, have socially deviant lifestyle, need constant stimulation, have parasitic lifestyles and possess unrealistic goals.

It doesn't matter whether you're talking about Democrats or Republicans.

Political psychopaths are all largely cut from the same pathological cloth, brimming with seemingly easy charm and boasting calculating minds. Such leaders eventually create pathocracies—totalitarian societies bent on power, control, and destruction of both freedom in general and those who exercise their freedoms.

Once psychopaths gain power, the result is usually some form of totalitarian government or a pathocracy. "At that point, the government operates against the interests of its own people except for favoring certain groups," author James G. Long notes. "We are currently witnessing deliberate polarizations of American citizens, illegal actions, and massive and needless acquisition of debt. This is typical of psychopathic systems, and very similar things happened in the Soviet Union as it overextended and collapsed."

In other words, electing a psychopath to public office is tantamount to national hara-kiri, the ritualized act of self-annihilation, self-destruction and suicide. It signals the demise of democratic government and lays the groundwork for a totalitarian regime that is legalistic, militaristic, inflexible, intolerant and inhuman.

So why do we keep doing it over and over again?

Comment: Well, not all politicians are psychopaths, but it does help if you are one in certain countries, especially Western countries, and especially the US, UK, EU and Israel.

Check out Political Ponerology for further insights into 'political' psychopaths.

Note that this has been carried by the Huffington Post. Awareness that we live in a 'pathocracy' is reaching ever-wider audiences...

Best of the Web: Saudi Arabia Uncovered: ITV documentary exposes the West's original 'Islamic State'

Saudi arabia
Saudi Arabia, pathocrats' paradise in the Middle East
In what is probably a world-first, a team of British investigative journalists have put together this documentary exposing daily life inside Saudi Arabia. Public executions, including beheadings and crucifixions, 'religious' police enforcing Sharia law (but only on the mass of ordinary Saudis), horrendous conditions in jails teaming with political prisoners, spectacular wealth for the few and slums for the masses, and public 'education' that teaches children to kill Christian, Jewish and Shia 'infidels' - these are just some of the horrors produced by a regime that is sustained thanks only to its 'most-favored-nation' status with the Western banking cartel.

Meet the regime that sends head-choppers to Syria to 'bring it freedom and democracy'... with the full support of Western 'democracies'.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry has summoned the German ambassador to the country after one of the German television channels broadcast a satirical song about President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, local media reported.

According to the Spiegel magazine's Monday report, the NDR television channel broadcast a two-minute song mocking Erdogan on March 17. The magazine claims, citing its sources, that ambassador Martin Erdmann was summoned to the foreign ministry over the incident on March 22.

Erdogan is famous for his reaction to criticism. According to media reports, more than 1,500 people in Turkey are being investigated for insulting the president.

Turkey's crackdown on journalists and restrictions on freedom of speech have been criticized by the international community, including the United Nations, the United States, the European Union, Russia and the organization Reporters Without Borders (RSF).

Comment: Erdogan is one unbelievably self-important, terrorist-loving dictator.

Best of the Web: Syrian forces clear ISIS out of Palmyra - RT reports from 'Pearl of the Desert' (VIDEOS)

Syrian armed forces burn the black flag of ISIS/Daesh after liberating the ancient city of Palmyra
Days after the Syrian Army recaptured Palmyra from Islamic State militants, RT's Lizzie Phelan visited the ancient archeological treasure to see if the UNESCO World Heritage Site suffered any irreparable damage after being in the jihadists' hands.

Just getting to Palmyra is a challenge. Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) mined the entrances to the world-famous site, which have been painstakingly cleared by the Syrian Army, with Russian assistance.

RT's Lizzie Phelan was one of the first journalists to set foot in Palmyra since the site was captured by IS militants in May 2015.

It took four months for Salah Abdeslam - one of the alleged commando members on Paris 11.13 - to be captured in Brussels after a shootout. He never escaped to Syria; he never moved away from his known digs in Molenbeek.

It took only four days for the next plot twist — a coordinated jihadi attack at Brussels airport and a metro station only 500 meters away from the EU headquarters.

Under a blowback scenario, this was largely predictable. Belgian Foreign Minister Didier Reynders had even warned during the weekend attacks were imminent. More worrying is the leak that Belgian secret services — as well as Western intel agencies — had "precise" info about the risk of an attack at the airport and a probable attack on the metro.

Even more significantly, and before the arrest of Abdeslam, none other than neo-Ottoman Sultan Erdogan, leader of a key "NATO ally", had seen the writing on the wall; "There is no reason why the bomb that exploded in Ankara cannot explode in Brussels, in any other European city." Erdogan was, of course, drawing a nasty, false connection between Kurds and Salafi-jihadis, yet he sounded like he was delivering a mix of prophecy and threat.

Best of the Web: Busted! RT films trove of ISIS docs detailing illegal oil trade with Turkey

ISIS documents
© RTIslamic State documents, including invoices, which militants abandoned while retreating in haste.
An RT Documentary crew filming in northern Syria has seen Islamic State (IS, ISIS/ISIL) documents abandoned by retreating terrorists and found by the Kurds that, along with captured IS recruits, provide a stunning insight into the alleged Turkey-IS oil trade links.

Shortly after the outbreak of the Syrian war, IS became a game-changer in Iraq and, in particular, Syria. Beheadings on camera, mass killings, and enslavement, as well as apparent connections to the Paris and Brussels attacks had become synonymous with the terror group, giving it wide publicity.

Running a viable militant organization with such remarkable capabilities would be impossible without some logistical and financial support from the outside.

Turkey, which has been actively engaged in the Syrian war since the outset, has repeatedly denied claims that it is aiding IS. However, while Ankara insists that it is the jihadist group's sworn enemy, facts on the ground often tell a different story.

RT has spoken to several witnesses who were involved in Islamic State's trade activities and accessed the terror group's documents, which provide insight into how and where foreign militants enter Syria to join the terrorist "state."

Detailed oil invoices

The RT Documentary team did most of its filming in the town of Shaddadi, located in the Syrian province Hasakah, which has been partly overrun by IS jihadists. Following the liberation of Shaddadi, which is home to some 10,000 people, RT filmed Kurdish soldiers walking around what used to be the homes of IS fighters and examining piles documents that had been left behind.

Some of the files seized at the scene turned out to be detailed invoices used by IS to calculate daily revenues from their oil fields and refineries, as well as the amount of oil extracted there. All the documents had Islamic State's symbol at the top.

Best of the Web: Controlled chaos: How the U.S. empire infects other nations in its pursuit for total control

controlled chaos
© South Front

Comment: Professor Prav succinctly sums up the illegal, neo-colonial enterprise currently being pursued by the United States, and identifies the main means by which they are doing so. A more appropriate moniker for the phenomenon, however, was provided by Dr. Andrew Lobaczewski and fully described in his book, Political Ponerology. It is called "artificially infected pathocracy." The strategy of controlled chaos isn't fully comprehensible without grasping the psychopathology of the individuals who implement it.

Nowadays, a variety of means are being used in order to implement and extend the "controlled chaos" in the national economies and societies in the geopolitical struggle. The actor, who is using the tool, is maintaining the "controlled chaos" within the opposing country.

Steven Mann, the US foreign policy expert who took part in the developing of many of the current "controlled chaos" hotspots in various parts of the world, speaks openly of the need to use "increased level strongly-worded criticism", and causing "controlled chaos" to secure and promote the US national interests.

Steven Mann is a key figure behind the development of the "controlled chaos" theory as a means of furthering US national interests. Mann was born in 1951 and graduated from Oberlin College in 1973 with a B.A. in German. In 1974 he obtained an M.A. in German Literature from the Cornell University and has been a member of the Foreign Service since 1976. He received a Harriman Institute for Advanced Soviet Studies scholarship to obtain an M.A. in Political Science from the Columbia University in 1985-1986. He graduated from the National Defense University in Washington, D.C.

Best of the Web: Operation Gladio: State-sponsored terror - 1992 BBC documentary

gladio
Operation Gladio is undisputed historical fact. Gladio was part of a post-World War II program set up by the CIA and NATO supposedly to thwart future Soviet/communist invasions or influence in Italy and Western Europe. In fact, it became a state-sponsored right-wing terrorist network, involved in false flag operations and the subversion of democracy.

The existence of Gladio was confirmed and admitted by the Italian government in 1990, after a judge, Felice Casson, discovered the network in the course of his investigations into right-wing terrorism. Italian prime minister Giulio Andreotti admitted Gladio's existence but tried to minimize its significance.

The main function of the Gladio-style groups, in the absence of Soviet invasion, seems to have been to discredit left-wing groups and politicians through the use of "the strategy of tension," including false-flag terrorism. The strategy of tension is a concept for control and manipulation of public opinion through the use of fear, propaganda, agents provocateurs, terrorism, etc. The aim was to instil fear into the populace while framing communist and left-wing political opponents for terrorist atrocities.
