JohnnyQuest It's like picking a scab. The clickbait titles always get me, and then I start reading and the thesis itself is always a red flag of fallacy and sensationalism.

I prefer Suspicious Observers for my catastrophism, because at least he explains the science and I can understand it. But I rely on none of these sites as alarms I should give too much energy to. My personal feeling on my prepping is I have some time. I don't know how much, but it's not as urgent as most prepping news would have you believe. I have discerned I still have time to acquire land and an old diesel farm engine for when the power goes out.

Artex I hope to acquire land as well before this all goes down. Otherwise I have some friends/family who’ve land in remote areas who, at least to some extent, understand what’s coming and how difficult it will be. Plenty of space to get lost in Washington.

JohnnyQuest I've got family along the Mississippi in less developed areas. Hopefully I arrive there before my truck computer is fried. I have a 30 year old vehicle, but would be nice to get an even older fully mechanical diesel vehicle. After learning how easy it is to distill crude diesel from waste plastic, seems like the wise thing to look for.

JohnnyQuest I think you literally make a simple still, and the vapor that cools at the other end is diesel. I learned about it from this expat hippy couple on an island that uses trash that washes ashore to provide diesel to the local community. [Link] And those older farm engines will run on almost anything resembling diesel.

Artex I live in Calgary and we had snow in August as well. Our winters were also colder in the past. What is so unusual is that the past two years we had incredible summers here in Calgary like in Kelowna when I lived there. I am not complaining about the hot weather, it's about time we got beautiful summers here as well. But then, it could be the HAARP technology doing its magic in weather modification, or maybe not. Who knows.
