Greek police have launched an international search to establish the identity of a little girl found living with a Roma couple who are not her parents.
They hope Interpol can help solve the mystery of the girl, aged around four, who was discovered in central Greece. Suspicions were aroused as she bore no resemblance to the two adults.
"During questioning about the girl, they gave conflicting answers," a news conference was told by Vassilis Halatsis, the Police Director of Thessalia province. "The constantly changing claims of the supposed parents consolidated our beliefs that these were not the biological parents of the child."
DNA tests confirmed this and the pair have been arrested for alleged abduction.
The parents of missing British girl Madeleine McCann have reportedly been given hope by the discovery of the child, who is now in the care of a charity.

Something truly evil is going on here. First of all, how did the Greek police know that she is 9 years old? Did the girl told them that? If she didn't who did? And if she could tell her age, she could've told her name too, unless she was abducted when she was very young. How and when she ended up living with Roma family? Is it true at all? Being so blond and different how is that nobody noticed here before? And why would they die her hair blond knowing that by doing this somebody surely will notice her? And this girl looks not even close to the missing British girl Madeleine McCann. She looks Eastern European to me, probably Ukranian or Russian. And I think someone is trying to whip up public hysteria and hatred against Roma people.

later it was said that "Clarence Mitchell told the Daily Star: “This is an appalling use of Madeleine’s picture and whether it is a result of hacking or a mistake, it must be removed immediately.”The paper adds that law firm Carter-Ruck has been contacted to remove the image “with immediate effect”."

Irish police, the gardai, were tipped off about the seven-year-old girl by people who noticed that she looked nothing like her supposed siblings. The family were living in the Tallaght area of south Dublin, with several children at the house when the police arrived on Monday afternoon.
The parents claimed that the child was born in the Coombe hospital in Dublin in April 2006. But when gardai contacted the hospital, they had no record of the child having been born on the date the parents claimed. The child has been taken into care and authorities are awaiting the results of a DNA test."
