I realise "they" want absolute control, I'm not disputing that at all. If not these data centres, they will try something else. They will never be...

This particular story is not necessarily related to the other stories of sink holes so prevalent today. The area around Tombstone is literally riddled with abandoned mine tunnels like so much Swiss cheese. There are constant reports of cave-ins and sink holes. When the mines were first being excavated, the miners were not particularly careful about shoring them up and now they are simply too dangerous to retrofit. The location of many of the mines has been lost, so there are no valid records of even where these tunnels are! I visited Tombstone one time and the "main drag" was blocked off because of a cave-in. The "better" question is why aren't there even *more* sinkholes in Tombstone...
