Londoners in panic at 'gigantic bang' heard across city - A 'gigantic bang' was heard around the city. Londoners were in a panic after a "gigantic bang" was heard across the city. Emergency services attended the scene after World War II bomb was found in Stables Market, Camden. People flocked to social media to ask what the "bang" was with some thinking it could have been thunder as storms roll in across the capital in line with Met Office forecasts but others in nearby locations thought the bomb had exploded.
At the same time, a lightning bolt is said to have hit Belsize Park in Camden, causing the loud "bang" heard by many. One Twitter user said: "Currently in a Camden Office, there are ongoing evacuations because of a WW2 bomb found nearby, it hasn't exploded so far, apparently the bang was a lightning strike in Belsize park leading to a school being evacuated."
London Fire Brigade reported "No explosion took place. A loud noise reported in the area is believed to have been thunder."
The sonic boom was heard across London, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. London's Metropolitan Police subsequently confirmed the bang was the result of the RAF aircraft being cleared to go faster than the speed of sound. RAF jets are only given permission to go supersonic in emergencies, usually when they are required to intercept another aircraft .Knew that BS about a bomb which was never donated mixed in with an exceptionally large single thunder bolt in a London park just didn't make any sense
People tweeted that a loud "explosion" had woken them at about 04:20 GMT - with houses shaking and reports of police sirens straight after. The noise was generated by two Royal Air Force Typhoons, which launched from Coningsby in Lincolnshire and intercepted an unresponsive aircraft.Another one - March 2023

At least it was not frozen sh*t raining down from a commercial airliner. That is what most frequently happens ...
