A massive explosion struck the central area of the Hungarian capital of Budapest late Saturday night. Social media video shows a heavy police presence at the Oktogon intersection while eyewitnesses are reporting that several casualties occurred as a result of the blast.
At least two people injured in the blast were taken to a hospital according to Hungarian Blikk daily newspaper reports citing local emergency services.
The two injured people reported by the outlet are believed to be police officers.
Bystanders look on in horror as authorities look to tend to the injured and cordon off the area to prevent the risk of further injuries.
People reporting in the beginning disorganized police running around and shouting something about a bag.
The whole area is cordoned off. Curious: why two police were injured in the blast? WTH were they doing??
Eyewitness account:
"It was a short, sharp, big explosion. When I got down from the neighboring block house the street was full of police. I saw a little coffe shop/bakery's window broken, but there was neither fire, nor smoke. Few people were taking pictures, but nobody really cared about it. ** It seemed the police had no idea to where / what scene they were called. ** Told two of them about the broken shop window, but nobody cared about it. Then they slowly began to drive people out, cordoning off and they expressly ordered themselves that NOBODY CAN SAY ANYTHING!
Little later asked one policeman if it was a gas explosion: He answered "something like that." Then I asked: Why are so many policemen then here? He didn't know. Interesting.. I don't understand why they closed the Academy of Music?..."
- Nearest blockhouse was evacuated, people won't be allowed to go home there for a couple days.
- A car driver was let through, because allegedly he has a video about the explosion.
Yeah.. This is becoming suspicious. First, there should be civilians hurt usually in these cases, it was police injured, who called for help and it arrived _in 2 minutes_, its the capitol, so probably nearby patrols came. They are first shouting about "bag". Rumored also is a "nail bomb".
This would be the very first terror attack in our country, when our little psycho president announced a referendum about who should determine the refugee quota: EU or Hungary.
