Perhaps this isn't that surprising - Manchester was named the UFO capital of Britain earlier this year.
Adorned with lights that flash from white, to blue, to purple, the mysterious object is long and narrow, rather than the disc-shape commonly associated with UFOs.
The strange sight was caught on camera as the object flew "higher than planes," according to the owner of the footage.
Posting the clip on social media, he wrote: "Knowing how high it appeared in the sky, I'm guessing its size was massive."
He added the possible UFO was visible in the sky for around 40 minutes before it flew so high it could no longer be seen.
The video, which has resurfaced online after being first posted in 2011, has garnered significant attention from believers in aliens and the supernatural.
One social media user commented: "Absolutely amazing footage. Definitely an extremely large, cigar-shaped UFO."
Another user also thought the video was convincing, saying: "It looks like part of a space shuttle."
Furthermore, it seems this isn't the first time the strange object has been spotted.
One person posted under the video: "I saw the exact same thing over my house in Worcestershire a few years back... Definitely changed my opinion on the whole UFO thing, amazing to see a video of it!"

If this UFO is real, how does it feel being watched by an absolute superpower alien nation? When you are silently operating a hi-tech instrument [phone, PC, etc] and stop a little and look at your dog and it looks away after a while, same way I think humans just look away unable to comprehend the immense technological and intellectual superiority of the UFO that is occupying the same living space, where humans are kept in the important role of cattle[for meat and milk] barnyard animals[for food] or as humanimal pets in this Zoo that we call Earth. UFO's probably call this planet Zoo and farm so they come here for a fun watch or to cull the human herd, because they are so hungry they could eat a whole cattle or any human they catch.
Charles Fort, (all of his books are for free online - start with Book of the Damned*) said, after evaluating millenia of such events, concluded - but not with certainty,but with his best estimate/guess, that 'we/Earth are owned.' That long ago, a battle was fought for the owndership of our planet, and us, and that we've been staked off anbd marked with a 'No Trespassing" upon penalty of....whatever." (Or such.)
