Video shows nine police officers arresting and throwing teen to concrete for jaywalking

Video shows nine police California officers arrested a black teenager and slammed him on to concrete while arresting him for jaywalking.

Witnesses said a Stockton police officer ordered the teenager to sit down, but the teen instead continued walking toward a waiting bus, reported RT.

Bystander Edgar Avendaño, who recorded the video, said the officer grabbed the teen's arm in attempt to stop him and then pulled out his baton after the teen "took off the cop's hand off his arm."

Stockton police told VICE News that the 16-year-old teen did not respond to an officer's request to get out of the bus lane.

"For safety reasons, the officer told the young man to get on the sidewalk," officer Joseph Silva said. "After the teenager refused to comply and used obscene language, the officer went over and a there was a scuffle."

Police said the officer was wearing a body camera, but the device was knocked off during the initial confrontation.

Avendaño's video shows the officer leaning hard on the teen, who is seated on a brick landscaping wall. The officer then uses the baton to pin the teen's ankles against his body as bystanders urge him to stop.

"It's a f**cking kid!" a bystander yells. "Get off him, he's been jaywalking. Leave him alone, he didn't do anything wrong."

The officer repeatedly orders the teen to stop resisting as the teen writhes in pain from having the baton pinned against his ankles. The teen eventually sits up and tries to push the baton away from his legs, and the officer swings it twice at the teen's face.

"Get the f*ck off of him, it's a f*cking kid," a bystander yells. The officer backs up and orders the teen, who sits on the wall holding his injured jaw, to get on the ground.

Eight other officers begin arriving at that point, and they lift the teen up and walk him several feet away from the wall before slamming the teen onto the sidewalk.

Four officers then pile on top of the teen and pin him to the ground before handcuffing him, as the other four officer stand guard and attempt to block the Avendaño's camera angle.

The officers pull the handcuffed teen to his feet, and the teen sobs as he's led to a patrol car as the bystander continues yelling at officers. "That's a f*cking kid, he didn't do nothing wrong," she says. "Call his f*cking mama."

Under California law, jaywalking is an infraction, not a misdemeanor, carrying fines up to $191.

Stockton police said situation is under review. "Anytime an officer uses force there's an automatic administrative review," Silva told Vice News.

There was absolutely no reason

for the kid to not do what the police officer asked him to do in the first place. This will play out as just another "cops versus blacks" episode. Expect Sharpton, Jackson, et al to join the NAACP and get into the fracas. Looks like a setup to me. This arrogant 16-year-old started a fight with a cop, intentionally. How did he expect it would play out. Funny, but when I'm asked to show my identification and vehicle registration, I do. If a police officer were to ask me to remove myself from the street, I'd certainly remove myself from the street. Most of these videos I've seen could have ended differently had it not been for a few who believe the law is for everybody else and not them. Is there any other country in the world where it would have been tolerated. Some cops are bad cops, but anyone who believes the law is for everyone but them is just as bad, especially when they cry victim and use the incident to further racism.

If I was the officer I might have suggested to the young man that jaywalking can endanger himself and others who may need to swerve to miss him. I would also have said that it is against the law and he could be sited. There was absolutely no call for the extreme violence with which he attacks this young man, smashing him with his baton, are you kidding me? Whatever happened to common sense? Whatever happened to a little calm discussion? Why does every act have to met with massive force? Did this teenager scare this officer so bad that he added to have 8 other officers come to help him slam him to the ground. Did you notice there was no discussion, the other officers showed up and bam! Grabbed him and slammed him to the ground. To say it was complete overkill by the officers that day is an understatement. The reason people don't react correctly is because their terrified by these Massive monsters who are barking orders and waving batons or guns. Why did a case of jaywalking elicit this manic response from this officer? There's just no point!

One other thing Severline, I believe he was running to catch a bus, there where obviously many people there who witnessed this. You could hear mother's in the background screaming that he was just a kid. What were these bystanders left with? Most of them if they were the same age as this young man have probably never had a runnin with the law. Now, everything anybody them see an officer, it will elicit fear, anger, hatred, etc. These officers are not doing themselves any favors with the community by this aggressive enforcement methids. They are turning the people against them. So who's causing the racism? Is it the officers who are singling out people of color? Or bystanders, who are witnessing out of control enforcement? This is a two edged sword, but the police are supposed to be trained to deal with situations. He was the adult in this altercation, and he blew it miserably.

To you, I'm a small-minded moron for stating that what I obviously saw in the video was a rebellious teen who refused to have a calm discussion with a police officer before the situation accelerated to resisting arrest. Your first comment to me shows me that you aren't capable of having a calm discussion over something so small as opinion. So how do you expect this police officer to have a calm discussion with a teen who just told him to take a hike. It ended badly because of this young teen's initial bad choices and behavior. Since when does a cop asking you to move out of the street merit foul language and blow-off attitude? There was a witness who heard and saw what happened. I agree, there are bad cops out there who need to be put in jail for their bad decisions. The kid is lucky he wasn't in Mexico, he'd be in a 4 x 6 cell for months before they let him come out and tell his story. Here he can still press charges against the cops.

Here's one for you. Guy comes into your yard and starts milling around. You and your buddies are in the house watching TV and you see the stranger milling around in your yard and ask him to leave and he blows you off with some foul language and tells you to go back inside because he's going to keep on milling around your yard because he feels he has the right to. How long before you and your buddies are doing what the cops did?

The cop had the kid folded up on the wall, and was jamming his baton against the kid's shins, which were bare, since the kid was wearing shorts.

I would like you, Servaline, to have someone do that to you and see how long you can stand it. The shins have only skin over the bone, and what the cop was doing was deliberately torturing the kid by inflicting extreme pain on him.

Then when the kid tried to make the thuggish torturer stop by grabbing the baton, the thug hit him twice in the face with it, then calmly put his baton away in its holster. Never, at any time, was the cop afraid of the kid. He was just viciously inflicting pain on him, because he knew he could get away with it.

Just like the Nazi SS who took photos of themselves shooting prisoners in the head, on the side of a pit filled with bodies, because they knew they could get away with it. No different.

One of these days there will be an incident where the bystanders get so mad they overcome their fear, and there will be several dead cops and dozens of dead citizens. The President will mouth meaningless words, the media will tut-tut and the courts will find that the cops did nothing wrong. Even if they started it.

Perhaps then something will be done about this brutal police culture of domination, violence and casual murder of those who pay their salaries.

what Ted Turner was saying when he said that he thought the world police should be the United Nations and he put $1 billion where his mouth is by donating it to the United Nations. So, you guys might consider that whilst we have some bad cops, the plan of the elite, of which TT is one, is to stir dissent so that when they announce the UN police force is here to relieve you of the corrupt bully cops, you'll surely be thankful. I'm not a cop and I don't secretly move in their circles, voluntarily or for pay. You're voluntarily helping this change in law and order just like they've planned. I also see a trend in young people acting out rebellion because the media is using the bad cop stories to help enrage the American public and the elite, via the government schools, are systematically teaching children that they don't have to answer to parents, teachers, law enforcement, etc. because they should do what they want and just be rebellious. It works for the purpose of the elite until the changeover and then the rebellious folks will be lined up and disposed of because they're no longer useful and they don't respect authority so they're worthless eaters. You think the current police can be bad ass; well, better get your thinking caps on because you're getting ready to meet the storm troopers - the real ones.

I think in any authoritarian society you will eventually have a bubbling up of anger and resentment towards said authority. In this case, as with a lot of others, police officers are the ones who carry out the hands on approach to squashing dissent or rebelliousness of any kind. However, I notice more people are afraid of toeing the line rather than going over it. A lot of pathological types enjoy being in positions of power and taking advantage of that authority, which is WHY you see so many of these police videos of someone saying or doing something minor, only to have an extreme response from an officer. They revel in having the person doing exactly what they say and if they don't, or stand up for themselves in some way, then they want to bash their heads in, or in some instances kill them.

Although yes, the media may be fueling something else here, like a 'color revolution' for some other purpose or end, but it still doesn't change what's happening on the ground w/videos like this.

the jail doors are left open so that Otis the drunk has a place to sleep and Barney only has 1 bullet issued to him that he keeps safely in his pocket until needed and Andy would have given the kid a ride to school because he missed the bus. Laws are necessary for any civilization to exist and it helps when the citizens understand right from wrong and that a mouthful of hateful, foul language spewed at someone in authority and grabbing at their weapon just may get their thin-skinned shins beaten with a baton. Not that long ago if you told your old man to screw off you'd be behind the wood pile real fast and come out looking a whole lot worse for the wear than that kid that got assaulted by 9 police officers. Unfortunately, whilst we were being entertained we allowed this imperfect society to creep in. I come here because SOTT covers a wide variety of news and they do a pretty good job of it. We all agree that this could have been a more genteel situation; however, the kid needs to step up to the plate and accept a little blame for his actions. Every time one of these situations happens and the hornets start up like a jet engine, the elite slap their knees and roar because it's one step closer to a one-world everything. They want you unhappy and afraid of everything from disease, your neighbor of another color, police, Russians, food, water, everything!, because they know that when you're angry and afraid they own you.

Multiple opinions and that's good. But allow me to interject for a moment:

1) Servaline has a point but has claimed it inaccurately. The kid was wrong. The cops were wrong. Two wrongs don't make a right, so no one has a right to act the way they did. No one is justified so charge them according to the law: jaywalking kid? fine him. Crazy assaulting cops? jail them.

2) land of the free and home of the brave? Not after WW2 brother! Most North Americans (I include us Canadians) are too busied with life trivialities that we just absorb the information provided, react and forget. Nothing brave about that. Killing people with advanced weapons is not brave. And you for sure agree we are not free, as proven by this video. Even the police are conditioned to react, and that baton to the shins technique must be a procedure that's taught in training. They are told of horror stories of murdered cops and are just as terrified. When I was 14 I have a gun pulled on me by a scrawny 15 year old cuz he thought I stole his girl. Believe me I didn't see it coming, but fortunately I wasn't the aggressor and talked my way out of it.

3) don't be mean. Everyone has a valid perspective, as long as they attempt to speak truly. That is what you must ascertain!

The bottom line is that the police are paid by the people"TAXPAYERS" to "SERVE AND PROTECT" society from a few bad actors. Turning 12 year old kid into a bad actor for "JAYWALKING " is the most ludicrous abuse of power I've seen. For this scene to have gravitated to this type of abuse is psychopathic. This officer wanted to demonstrate his superiority and authority over this young punk, and as far as I'm concerned he should be charged for abuse of a minor and should lose his job, this young man will be traumatized for the rest of his life every time he sees an officer. He will also probably hate them. This is not what the Constitution says is the liberty our people are supposed to enjoy.
