A 57-year-old fisherman was attacked and killed by a crocodile in front of his wife while they were fishing in the Northern Territory.
The man was fishing off a bank on the Adelaide River when the attack happened, Northern Territory police say.
His body was recovered overnight on Tuesday and the crocodile believed to be responsible was shot dead.
A report is being prepared for the coroner.
The couple were fishing near the Adelaide River bridge on the Arnhem Highway.
The Adelaide River is known for its crocodile population and attracts tourists who cruise its waters to see the reptiles.

"The Adelaide River is known for its crocodile population".
Why do People continue to go into or too close to lakes, ponds, rivers, billabongs, etc, that are well known for harboring man eating reptiles living in them? Each time I see another article (usually in Australia) of another human swimming in or fishing in a body of water and getting eaten alive I am amazed at how it could happen.
It just seems so elementary; Man eating reptiles in or around the water equals stay away at all costs.
Besides burning to death, that has to be one of the worst ways to go.
