Some petroglyphs

The eastern coast of Lake Onega has concealed another rock covered with numerous petroglyphs (rock carvings) which Russian archeologists discovered.

This unique find is of world importance - scientists think that these carvings are an ancient observatory. If their theory is true, then Karelian observatory is several hundred years older than any of the currently known ones, the oldest of which dates back to 2 century BC.

Scientists have various versions of what the petroglyphs depict, and some tend to think that the rock is covered with images of the Sun, Moon and unknown flying objects. There's still much to be deciphered.
