Twodees Me too. I also read fast, and cannot justify watching something for 30 minutes, when I can read and comprehend the script in two minutes. Said that, I sometimes watch videos too. When on youtube, I often put it at 1.25x or 1.5x speed and enable subtitles (this last feature is a hit or miss).

DD, I completely understand. I read so much faster than people can speak. Plus, I get tired of sitting through another talking head video where the speaker is in love with his own voice and drones on and on.

Also, the written word eliminates a problem that lies in a speaker's failure to properly enunciate, and the writer can review his work before publishing, while a speaker may be simply speaking extemporaneously and can make errors due to a faulty memory. So many people using online sources are too lazy to read, and many are unable to read well.

The rise of youtube gave TV addicted dimwits more access to infotainment, so that they can bloviate in comments sections on subjects they think they know well, but are misinformed about.
