Why does the system deem it necessary to punish people who make a terrible mistake and will obvioulsy be punished by themselves the rest of their lives...? This kid killed her sister on accident, thats not bad enough, she needs to be in prison too...? And this will do what? Would the dead sister want her locked up?
I could see some form of punishment for killing another innocent person, someone not near and dear to her. But as it happened she did nothing but wreck her car and kill a family member. All detrimental to her.
At some point in life every one of us has done something pretty dumb that really could have killed someone. Whats the difference between her and us? She was not so lucky to get away with it as the rest of us has. How quickly we forget.
But then again, you get a ticket for getting caught speeding, not speeding in itself.
