Do you get good education? Nope. (For most people anyway.)
Do you have roads, bridges, etc. in good state? No.
Are you taken good care of when unemployed? No.
Are you taken good care of when giving birth to a child? No.
That's where the money comes from.

That's the whole point. In the mean time every other country on the planet is in such deep s**t that
they couldn't help the U.S. even if they wanted to. That being said, everything is going according to plan. So yes, we do live in interesting times. Only, that personally I'm bored because I've seen that "very interesting" movie too many times.
