The Signs of the Times editors invite Laura Knight-Jadczyk back to continue their discussion of Pyschopathology. Two weeks ago we discussed Psychopathology in general terms. One week ago we refined our discussion and looked at evidence of the hand of the psychopath in the world of global politics and big business. This week, we get a little more personal, and discuss "the psychopath next door".

I'm not certain, but this may be happening to me through extended family. Thank you for all your work on this, it does make alot of sense now, and they fit the description here well. I don't think others can see it in this case, I've tried to make the relevant person understand that these family members behaviour shows very little if any empathy or conscience but its not working and I just seam to be making it worse because I loose my temper when they manipulate, then I look like the bad one. Interesting that she says there is one in 25! Very hard to navigate must get this book thank you so much ❤️

We had the misfortune of living next door to a pair of psychopaths....for 16 years. Every day was a 'what will these freaks do today?' The stories about what they did to us, and others, would fill a long book. I'm sorry to hear of your similar circumstances, and it being family, sadly, makes it that much more difficult, I'm sure. Some are simply born this way, as far as we can tell.

balboa schwartz Thanks for the moral support it's really appreciated and just to know others have experienced the same. Yea very true, and some maybe manipulated into this kind of negative behaviour because of influences by other psychopath types in their lives maybe as said here.. This talk was very helpful and rang true. So I'm trying to work out how to deal with it..

As in, with this knowledge, if I expect an unempathic reaction instead of a more normal one, then I can learn not to get so angry (ideally)! And/or react badly, as this is working against me at the moment lol. And isn't great for the good people around me either. . But I can see it as a test/learning experience I guess. I'll try to keep my mind open in case I'm wrong too, as there is always that possibility. Also as I didn't realize that it's more common than I thought... Thanks
