If you want to get right down to it, everything is connected to everything else. We and the dust that settles on our window ledge are from the same, cosmic source. It's only the ignorance of human-kind and reinforcement of that ignorance through 'religious' teaching that have put a wall between humans and this world we live on.
Pride, arrogance, vanity do not belong on this world but they are here and they are taught and promoted by many cultures. India is an ancient land with a fantastic history but all of that has been lost and her people have become, well, supporters of a 'caste' system which treats humans worse than animals. So if India treats her own people with distain then it is not a stretch to imagine how they treat animals.
It is always good to see the animals get some justice!! [Link]
