Three persons including two women were killed and dozens others injured in rain related incidents in different localities of Balochistan. Rains adversely disrupted the power supply and communication links in several areas of the province.

According to sources heavy monsoon showers were received in several districts of Balochistan including provincial capital Quetta, Zhob, Barkhan, Loralai, Musa Khel and others.

In Barkhan streams flooded due to heavy rainfall, swept away a vehicle resultantly two women including mother and a daughter were drowned. The locals and relatives on self assistance basis recovered the bodies of both.

In Zhob a 12 year old drowned and died in the flood water. The relatives of the deceased fished the body out.

Roofs and walls collapsed due to heavy rains in Loralai and other districts where dozens of people including women and children were injured.

In Usta Muhammad, two power pylons were damaged due to flood water suspending electricity to various areas of the district.

Flood water washed away the road connecting Zhob and Musakhel disrupting road link between the two districts. Hundreds of people remained stranded due to destruction of road.

People have to suffer a lot due to disruption of road links and suspension of electricity. On the other hand heavy rain also disturbed the service of mobile companies and landline phones due to which people ad to face hardships in contacting with family members and relatives.

The citizens of different districts of Balochistan have criticized the district and provincial governments which despite warnings by meteorological department regarding floods in monsoon season have taken no steps to deal with the situation.

They were of the view that district administrations and provincial government's officials had made tall claims they have made all arrangements for any emergency during monsoon season but their on ground performance seems to be zero.

They demanded the federal and provincial governments for taking solid steps for initiating relief activities in those areas which have been affected due to rains and floods. Meanwhile Pak-met has predicted more rains across the province during next few days which has multiplied the worries of the people.
