bronze age couple
Archeologists have found remains of an ancient loving couple buried together. Did the man and the woman who lived about three and a half thousand years ago, die on the same day?

Some mysterious tribe unknown to science inhabited those Kuban lands. It is this people that archeologists assign construction of dolmens to. Now the experts are examining the burial ground that has been found at the crossroads of Postovaia and Sedin Streets of Krasnodar.

Builders that had started construction of a hotel complex here came across the burial ground. Researchers found out that it is a sepulcher dating back to the 4th century B.C. The catacomb under study is a vertical shaft on the bottom of which there is an entrance to the grave chamber. The entrance was closed with a damper plate. Coal was found here as well. It looks like the unknown tribe had the cult of fire.

Inside the sepulchral chamber archeologists saw an amazing view. A deceased man was lying on his back with a dead woman by his side, hugging him lovingly. The researchers at once named them Romeo and Juliet of the Bronze Age. Yet, to all appearance the ancient couple was quite aged - both of them were about 60 when they died. The woman's hands are decorated with bracelets of bronze beads. Such accessories were untypical for Maeotae tribes that used to inhabit the territory of Krasnodar in ancient times.
