Sott Talk Radio logo
Welcome to the radio network of SOTT.net, your media source for independent, unbiased, alternative news and commentary on world events. Each Sunday on the SOTT Radio Network, SOTT.net editors Joe Quinn and Niall Bradley host the Behind the Headlines talkshow, analyzing global impact events that shape our world and future. Connecting the dots to reveal the bigger picture obscured by mainstream programming, Behind the Headlines is current affairs for people who think.

From the crisis in Ukraine to the ISIS in Iraq, from increasingly extreme weather to surviving in a world ruled by psychopaths, your hosts, their colleagues (and occasional guests) explore the deeper truths driving world events by exposing the manipulations behind what passes for 'news'. In this final show of the year, your hosts and their colleagues will be taking a look back at events in 2014 and considering what 2015 holds in store.

SOTT Focus: The Truth Perspective: Sydney Siege terror - what about Chechnya and Ukraine?

peshawar school shooting
This weeks show covers a multitude of events. In the past week or so, there have been an unusual number of mass murders that have occurred around the world, including the killing of students by the Taliban at a school in Peshawar, an Iraq vet who murdered an entire family near Philadelphia, the Sydney siege and the attack in Canada. Included in the discussion are the curious and rather common connections between the perpetrators of many of the shootings to intelligence agencies who have had these people on their watch lists but who somehow manage to slip through the net to commit these crimes.

Next up, we discussed the ongoing intrigue in Chechnya and Ukraine, the US re-establishment of diplomatic ties with Cuba to end the embargo and Russia's response to the situation. Russia has been quite prominent in the news on other fronts: their recent backing out of the South Stream pipeline agreement after EU / Bulgaria's haggling for four years, Putin's offer of amnesty to Russian oligarchs enabling them to legally return assets to Russia and Putin's skillful maneuvering to help Russia weather the economic storm caused by drops in oil prices and the Ruble, while cooperating with other BRICS and SCO countries to transition out of dollar denominated reserves into other currencies.

SOTT Focus: Behind the Headlines: Weekly Broadcast - 14 December 2014

Sott Talk Radio logo
This week the US Congress finally published its long-awaited 'Torture Report', the culmination of years of investigation into the Bush gang's 'methods' after 9/11.

The US media reported shock and outrage at the committee's findings, but what did we actually learn from their report? And is the truth about what went on - and is still going on - far worse than we're being told?

The Behind the Headlines team investigate...

SOTT Focus: The Truth Perspective: The CIA torture report and its implications - true history of early Christianity

Image
© Unknown
This week, we discussed the recent CIA Torture Report, Bart Ehrman's Jesus, Interrupted, what we do and don't know about early Christianity, and more. The CIA Torture Report has been a source of much contention in the media and high-up political circles. Listen as we survey the various points of view bandied about: from those who would seek to excuse the criminal and psychopathic methods of the CIA, to others who recognize it as one more attempt to make the American public complicit in its government's machinations.

In the second part of the show, we examine early Christianity: our common historic understanding of who Jesus was and what he did next to the actual facts that much of the Church knows of - and why those facts aren't generally known and understood by those who consider themselves Christian.

SOTT Focus: Behind the Headlines: Russian gas deal with Turkey - 'F*ck the EU!'

Image
This week on Behind the Headlines, we're discussing 'pipeline-istan', the economic battle between the West and Russia over who supplies Europe with its energy needs. Putin recently upset the EU by cancelling the planned South Stream Russian natural gas pipeline via Bulgaria... and replacing it with an alternative route to Turkey, which could possibly go from there into Greece and elsewhere in the Mediterranean. While this development came as a surprise to some, it's actually part of a decades-old issue that reappears in different guises: the US considers Europe to be its own, therefore Russian 'invasions', even in the form of peaceful trade deals, must be kept minimal.

In the first episode of The Truth Perspective, Harrison Koehli and fellow Sott.net editors discussed the breakdown of the South Stream deal between Russia and Europe. This came as a stun to EU leaders, who were expecting to make Russia submit. But Putin turned it around with a strategic move to Turkey.

Then, Chechnya experienced a terror attack, a day before Putin's annual address. Were the events connected in some way? The Truth Perspective looks into it.

SOTT Focus: Behind the Headlines: Historical Cycles, interview with Stefan Verstappen

Stefan Verstappen
This week we spoke once more with Canadian author, artist, and martial arts expert, Stefan Verstappen. Stefan has a professional background in communications and business management and has travelled extensively throughout East Asia, where he has studied oriental art, culture and Kung Fu.

Stefan is the author of 'The art of urban survival' from which the viral YouTube video documentary 'Defense Against the Psychopath' was taken.

Stedan has recently produced another video on the topic of historical cycles of human civilization and the manner in which they appear to repeat. In his video, Stefan makes the case that we are currently in the final stage of our cycle of history, defined, like all others, by widespread chaos. Historically, only small groups of people survived the periods of destruction that defined the end of a cycle, and they did so by forming themselves into tight-knit communities with specific organizational structures.

SOTT Focus: Behind the Headlines: Connecting the Dots - The Oz G20 freak-show and Backfiring anti-Russian sanctions

Sott Talk Radio logo
On this week's episode of 'Connecting the Dots' on SOTT Talk Radio, hosts Joe, Niall and Juliana discussed the G20 meeting in Australia, where the main item on the agenda was... Putin-bashing! If you're looking for true commentary on the G20 meeting because you couldn't find it anywhere on the lamestream media, this show is for you!

Also discussed: do Western leaders actually believe the lies they peddle? Or are they so invested in their 'dynamic narratives' that they will never ever, see the error of their ways?

Where did travelling, political freak-shows like the G-country meet-ups originate anyway? Believe it or not, the Bilderbergers and the 'green' environmental movement!

Noting how the West continues to target Russia's economy, and thus hurting Ukraine's economy in the process, your hosts considered what economic collapse in the US might look like. Will 'austerity' measures and backfiring sanctions cause the West to implode in on itself?

And stay tuned for this week's Extreme Weather Update: the 'Bering Bomb' polar vortex - did Russia send it to America as a gift?

SOTT Focus: Behind the Headlines: NATO's Secret Armies in Europe - Interview with Daniele Ganser

Sott Talk Radio logo
This week on SOTT Talk Radio we discussed the biggest story never told in modern Europe: NATO's secret warfare against European civilians. Proxy wars, false-flag terrorism, assassinations, economic warfare, color revolutions, interfering in elections... it's no secret that the U.S. establishment has done all that (and more) through its application of a psychopathic 'strategy of tension' around the world since the Second World War.

What is not generally known is that such 'secret warfare' was also taking place in Europe. For the briefest of moments, CIA and MI6 coordination of a 40-year-long, Europe-wide terror campaign - going by the code-name 'Operation GLADIO' in Italy - came to light in several European media in 1990, but the scandal was quickly buried by the rather fortuitous invasion by Saddam Hussein of Kuwait and the subsequent build-up to NATO's first 'expeditionary mission' to Iraq.

We spoke with Dr. Daniele Ganser, author of the seminal book NATO's Secret Armies in Europe, now translated into ten languages. Ganser is a historian lecturing in contemporary history, energy issues and geo-strategy at the Universities of St. Gallen and Basel in Switzerland. Check it out...
