CNN clinton

There may be a good reason CNN is referred to in some circles as the "Clinton News Network." During a recent live broadcast, the cable news network cut off one of its own reporters when she began explaining how Hillary Clinton helped contribute to the current problem of mass incarceration.

The clip begins with a Clinton campaign speech in Springfield, IL, as CNN overlays a banner saying, "Clinton rips trump over his constitution gaffe." As is usual with mainstream media infotainment, they're reporting on trivial sniping instead of issues that matter.

Clinton is going on about how Trump mentioned a non-existent "Article 12" of the Constitution, gloating as the crowd chuckles. CNN allows Clinton to deliver her punchline โ€” "Article 12. Not even close" โ€” and then cuts to senior political correspondent Brianna Keilar. Keilar, however, does not appear amused and attempts to inject some actual perspective into the circus sideshow being paraded as "news."
"But largely Hillary Clinton's comments today, John, were based around the recent violence that we have seenโ€”the police-involved shootings of black men in Minnesota, in Louisiana, and then the killing of white police officers by a black gunman in Dallas. That was really what she based her comments on around today. And remember, Hillary Clinton has some vulnerabilities herself. Even as she calls for criminal justice, because of her support in the 1990s for anti-crime legislation that ultimately helped contribute to this era of mass incarceration that she now speaks out againโ€”"
This is the precise moment when CNN cuts off video and soundโ€”just as Keilar was beginning to explain one part of Hillary Clinton's unscrupulous political history. Hillary was instrumental in advancing the 1994 crime bill that helped secure the presidency for her husband, and then ushered in the era of mass incarceration.

"Over the course of Clinton's presidency, the number of Americans in prison rose almost 60 percent." The legislation "expanded the death penalty, encouraged states to lengthen prison sentences and eliminated federal funding for inmate education." The crime bill's terrible consequence of turning millions into prisoners - ruining families and fostering poverty - is a fact which Hillary Clinton herself acknowledged.

This huge expansion of the prison population was only responsible for five percent of the drop in crime during the 1990s, according to an analysis by NYU Law School's Brennan Center.

But these truths are too much for CNN to allow them to be aired on national TV. They would prefer to focus on the banal and the divisive. After the feed is cut off, the station anchor briefly mentions that Clinton was talking about race relations before launching into the "he said, she said" commentary that dominates outlets such as CNN. Fox News and MSNBC. The banner overlay says, "Clinton unloads on 'dangerous' Trump over race." The station anchor assures us that Clinton will be talking about Trump for the remainder of the election, "just as he talks about her for the remainder of this election."

This blatant act of censorship and disinformation is the kind of antic we can expect from CNN and its brethren in the mainstream media as the election bears down. It is up to usโ€”the awakened masses and the alternative mediaโ€”to break the establishment narrative.

This is not the first time a reporter has been censored when dealing with Hillary either. In March, in a report about the election results in Arizona, talking head Chris Matthews was blabbering away as usual when he began to praise Bernie Sanders and his policy regarding free college. A few seconds into the rant and Matthews looks flustered and he begins to fidget, glancing back and forth and then, finally, he has enough, interrupts and says it out loud, "just a moment....am I supposed to stop talking?" he asks. "No." replies a voice. "Somebody just told me too," says Matthews, clearly frustrated. Matthews then resumes talking.

At best, this could be pure coincidence, at worst, and not that unlikely, Matthews was told to stop talking because he wasn't praising the establishment's choice for president.

As the Free Thought Project covers the presidential candidates and their various blunders, depending on which candidate we criticize, we are accused of supporting the 'other guy.' It is important to note that the Free Thought Project does not and has not endorsed any individual candidate. If you look through our archives, you will find that we have exposed dirt on all of them.
