France is likely to be the number one target for Daesh terrorist group, the French Prime Minister said Sunday.

The official reminded that the terror threat level in the country remained very high.

"France, without doubt.. is the number one target for Daesh," Manuel Valls said during his visit to Israel, as broadcast by the BFMTV channel.

The statement comes after EU law enforcement agency Europol warned earlier this month of possible terrorist attacks in Europe.

Earlier, it was reported that Daesh had plans to target the 2016 UEFA European Championship in France.

Last November, Daesh terrorists killed 130 people in a series of suicide and gun attacks in Paris. Brussels was struck by a terrorist attack in March, which killed 31 people and was linked to the Paris attackers.
