I suppose they want to return to the days when pediatrics was ruled by the idea that infants and young children did not feel pain at all. In those days, open heart surgery (and all other surgeries) was performed on infants with NO anaesthesia - just paralytics.
Then, of course, there is circumcision - performed without anaesthesia.
I hope they make their comparisons to children who were never given anaesthesia and WERE treated surgically. I knew a couple and they had serious psychological issues. Who wouldn't be scarred by enduring horrific pain while paralyzed?
Are they looking to create a new generation of psychopaths?
