Manila -- A 5.7-magnitude earthquake jolted parts of the Visayas and northern Mindanao of the Philippines on Monday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

It said the tremor struck at 10:43 a.m., with the epicenter located 40 kilometers southeast of Maasin town in Southern Leyte province with a depth of 23 kilometers.

Local media quoted state seismologists saying that there might be aftershocks in the wake of Monday morning's tremor.

No casualty has been reported so far. ใ€€
