Artemivsk, LuhanskThe Battle of Bakhmut fairy tale is a must read - [Link] ... It's not clear how the Russians suddenly won (what immediately become an insignificant little town of no strategic value) - I could have sworn the Ukrainians were going to wipe out all of the Russian forces until the very, very last moment
Kypuche, formerly known as Artemivsk / Artemovsk - The city is located some 60k from Bakhmut, which was also known as Artemovsk during the Soviet era.
Battle of Artemivsk
The Battle of Artemivsk was a 2014 battle fought in the city of Artemivsk (historically and since 2016 known as Bakhmut) - (Artemivsk, Donetsk, Ukraine!)
Battle of Bakhmut
For the 2014 battle in the city under its former name, see Battle of Artemivsk.
Historically, Bakhmut was the capital of Slavo-Serbia (1753โ1764), which was established by settlers of Serb and other ethnicities. In 1920โ1924, the city was an administrative center of the newly created Donets Governorate of the Ukrainian SSR in the Soviet Union. It was known under the name of Artemivsk or Artemovsk between 1924 and 2016.So what is it - one of these two spelling or the other spelling I recall I read on the other article - how bout a single name gets chosen for going forward, but evidently the name ain't gonna be " Bakhmut ", just like *kraine ain't going to be a sovereign entity going forward in the future - the name may be remember but the country is lost - lost for good reason.
Artemivsk
or
Artemovsk
~
either way, I suspect that is the new name.
