For the more serious readers--particularly those who watch monthly earth changes on Sott.net--I suggest taking some serious time and reading this [Link]Actually, starlings have returned where I'm from.
I also suggest looking out the window, watching your garden more carefully, walking around your neighborhood and seeing what birds, insects, and other life has disappeared in the past few years.

30-40 years ago they gathered on the power lines in early autumn - all 3 of them for kilometers on end, and whenever a car came by or something startled them, they would all lift off simultaneously. Sometimes, the abrupt movement caused the power to cut.
Then they disappeared.
The last couple of years, they returned, though not nearly in the same numbers.
