The tiny infant was found lying in a pool of his own blood, in the yard, by an uncle who quickly rushed him to hospital.
Doctors operated and now say they believe he will survive the ordeal.
It's not clear if cops have detained the mom, who is currently undergoing psychiatric evaluation to determine whether she is mentally ill.
Neighbors have reportedly pleaded with local government officials to take the child away, reports the International Business Times.
But staff say they are yet to make a decision, though Bao has two uncles who would be able to take care of him.
It's a wonder he survived the ordeal.
