in Southern Saskatchewn a wild pig attacked a woman who had gotten out of her car at her farmyard. Luckily, she was close enough to her car to get back in.
Wild pigs are not native to Saskatchewan. They were introduced about ten years ago by some local farmers with the idea of establishing commercial hunt farms.
When it proved to be unprofitable, the pigs were let loose to fend for themselves and, with no natural predators, rapidly multiplied. Now they are a dangerous nuisance.
This is what can happen when a species not native to an area is introduced with no thought for the consequences.
