We now know that two other donkeys mysteriously died in Grady County recently, and now the Georgia Department of Agriculture plans to step into the investigation.

"We just don't know why," said owner Michelle Hudson

Michelle Hudson is hurt and confused after finding two of her pet donkeys dead on their property on New Year's Day.

"Marley we found just laying dead right over there on New Year's Day and then yesterday morning, I found Chester right down there, one they're healthy running around doing there normal little thing and then I find them laying dead," said donkey owner Butch Hudson.

While the scenario is different these aren't the first donkeys to be found dead in the area.

"About two weeks ago we found two donkeys on Higden Road and the next day we got a report of one donkey on Cabin Lane," said Grady County Superintendent Steve Elkins.

The Grady County Road Superintendent and the Hudson's are searching for answers.

"I thought a bad bale of hay, I thought someone's poisoning them, West Nile, I mean I don't have a clue," said Hudson.

The owners fear that if they hadn't decided to come home when they did, they may have returned to find another one of their donkey's dead.

The Hudson's owned 9 donkeys, many of them rescues, some of them given to them, now they're down to seven, and they don't want to lose another one.

"They're very friendly loving animals, even the grand babies can come out and walk amongst them," said Michelle Hudson.

The family hopes that an answer to their questions will come soon before another donkey is found dead.

As a result of Walb's coverage and the Hudson's concern the state plans to quarantine the Hudson's donkeys to determine what's going on and to try to save the other donkeys.
