Description:
I was standing on the second floor balcony of a two story home in Paradise Valley, AZ looking north at approximately 9:00 pm. A commercial airliner passed directly overhead traveling in a southwest direction toward Sky Harbor International Airport. Approximately 20 seconds after the airliner passes out of sight, a streak of light catches my eye just to the northwest. The object was a bullet-shaped ufo traveling northwest at a constant altitude of approximately 1000 to 2000 feet and for a distance of 1/2 mile to 1 mile before disappearing. There was a minor cloud cover on Thursday evening, and it was well below that.
The ufo was observed within a distance of 1/4 to 1/2 of a mile. The incident was somewhat similar to a shooting star except for these observations:

1. The incident lasted much longer than a shooting star.
2. The object traveled below the cloud cover which I estimate being at 10,000 to 15,000 feet.
3. The object was unlike any known human craft.
4. The object was much closer than a shooting star - roughly as close as a helicopter would fly overhead.
5. The object had no signs of or any type of known propulsion system.
6. The craft was dead silent. No noise or disturbance whatsoever generated by any type of propulsion system.
7. The shape of the object was not of any known manmade craft.
8. The shape of the object was unlike common ufo sightings that depict a saucer shaped object. The craft was small. Seemed to look just like a small bullet-shaped cockpit with a "tail". Similar to shape of a single sperm cell with an illuminated cockpit.
9. The craft traveled at a speed much slower than a shooting star but still faster than any known manmade craft. I estimate the speed at mach 2 to mach 3. I am a pilot and can identify all known manmade aircraft types - private, commercial, and military.

Thank you for your time.
