A woman was left baffled after she filmed a bright pink orb in the night sky, fueling the UK's UFO frenzy.

South east London woman Keely, who would only give her first name, took the mysterious footage with her camera phone after seeing the strange lights out of her kitchen window in Anerley.

Keely said: "I've got no answers. I've never seen anything like it."

The secretary witnessed the strange incident last night at around 6.15pm with partner Adrian, 41, and daughter Carlie, 10.

The mum-of-two, also 41, added: "I was in the kitchen. At first I thought it was a firework and it started moving.

"It was bigger than an orange, glowing bright pink."

Keely, who said the family often see the headlights of planes headed for Gatwick Airport, then thought the lights may have been the sign of an aircraft in trouble.

She said: "We get a lot of planes coming over. I thought it was something to do with the engine of a plane - I thought there was a fire in the engine.

"But it was like nothing before. It was so strange."

Keely then rushed upstairs to another window to get a better look, but the light disappeared.

She added: "It went to go through the trees and then it was gone. It might have been a UFO."

A National Air Traffic Services (NATS) spokesman said: "NATS has had no reports of any aircraft in difficulty or anything that might have created that problem.

"I can't explain what they saw."

Chairman founder of London UFO Studies Roy Lake viewed the footage and said: "It's an unknown. We've been getting a hell of a lot of UFO sightings.

"We cannot be sure of what it is. Don't rule it out."
