The anti-lockdown strategy

Unfortunately, it seems that COVID-19 has infected everyone involved in healthcare management and turned their brains into useless mush.

Lockdown has two main purposes. One, to limit the spread of the virus. Two, and most important, to protect the elderly and infirm from infection - as these are the people most likely to become very ill, end up in hospital, and often die. [In my view, if we had any sense, we would lockdown/protect the elderly, and let everyone else get on with their lives].

However, the hospitals themselves have another policy. Which is to discharge the elderly unwell patients with COVID directly back into the community, and care homes. Where they can spread the virus widely amongst the most vulnerable.

This, believe it or not, is NHS policy. Still.

Dr. Mark Sircus: Facing Food Shortages

Dumped Milk, Smashed Eggs, Plowed
Vegetables: Food Waste of the Pandemic.
Beware the ominous rumblings of an increasing number of nations making preparations for the possible loss of food imports. Protectionist measures by national governments during the coronavirus crisis could provoke food shortages around the world, the UN's food body has warned.

Harvests have been good and the outlook for staple crops is promising, but a shortage of field workers brought on by the virus crisis and a move towards protectionism - tariffs and export bans - mean problems could quickly appear in the coming weeks, Maximo Torero, chief economist of the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation, told the Guardian. As the coronavirus continues to infect more and more people, food supply chains have started to become more strained in recent days.

In normal times, 35 per cent of the food we eat - around 70 million meals every day - is prepared outside our homes, by restaurants and caterers, in cafes and school canteens. Because restaurants' needs are very different to those of people cooking at home, billions of pounds of produce was suddenly left without a buyer. British farmers are warning they have been forced to throw millions of gallons of milk down the drain because it no longer has a buyer

UK benefit claimant sanctioned for not finding a job during lockdown, amidst soaring mass unemployment

benefit sanctions
© MirrorPixTracy said she had a shock when the payment statement arrived
A 23-year-old who waited an entire month for his universal credit payment to arrive was eventually told he'd receive nothing, despite the Government pledging to freeze sanctions during the coronavirus crisis.

Ben, 23, had been sanctioned earlier in the year for being unable to find work, however, like payment holidays for homeowners and furlough for the employed, he believed the freeze would be lifted to support struggling households during the pandemic.

"How can he be sanctioned for being unable to find work during a lockdown?" Ben's mum, Tracy told Mirror Money.

The family said they waited weeks for the payment after the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) announced plans to freeze benefit sanctions under emergency measures last month.

Best of the Web: Why have prisoners been released around the world... during a global lockdown?

myanmar release prisoners
Myanmar released a QUARTER of its prison population when it had just 80 cases of COVID-19.
Lock down the innocent, release the guilty...

A look at the mass release of prisoners in almost every country globally since the commencement of 'the lockdown', focusing on Myanmar's case.

Why are govts doing this? It makes no sense from the point of view of keeping people 'socially distanced'.

Is there a more sinister reason for it?

boris johnson trans rights
The decision is to protect under-18s from "from making those irreversible decisions"

The United Kingdom government is set to outlaw gender reassignment or confirmation surgeries for minors as part of reforming Gender Recognition Act set to take place this summer.

Equalities minister Liz Truss made the announcement confirming the intention to prohibit irreversible medical procedures on under-18s suffering from gender dysphoria.

According to Talk Radio, she said: "I believe strongly that adults should have the freedom to lead their lives as they see fit, but I think it's very important that while people are still developing their decision-making capabilities that we protect them from making those irreversible decisions."

Coronavirus: World risks 'biblical' famines due to pandemic - UN

Comment: Due to your wilful collapsing of the global economy, more like. What a bunch of feckless morons...

food aid

The world is at risk of widespread famines "of biblical proportions" caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the UN has warned.

David Beasley, head of the World Food Programme (WFP), said urgent action was needed to avoid a catastrophe.

A report estimates that the number suffering from hunger could go from 135 million to more than 250 million.

Those most at risk are in 10 countries affected by conflict, economic crisis and climate change, the WFP says.

Comment: All of this is not due to the coronavirus, but rather the world's reaction to the coronavirus. If the world had calmly and rationally looked at the data, our leaders would have seen it for what it is and not reacted by panicking and shutting everything down. The economy would not be bottoming out and areas of low food security would not be in jeopardy. In other words, this 'biblical famine' is significantly due to human actions.

Facebook quietly stops letting advertisers target pseudoscience fans after years of boasting 'misinformation fighting' role

Having claimed to be a crusader against misinformation during the coronavirus pandemic, Facebook has only just removed the ability for advertisers to target users "interested in pseudoscience," journalists have discovered.

The social media behemoth finally removed the "pseudoscience" category from its advertising platform on Wednesday, several days after investigators at The Markup first confronted it. They questioned the inconsistency between Facebook declaring war on misinformation and offering advertisers the ability to target 78 million people apparently interested in it.

This gulf between Facebook's stated mission and its actual business model was especially glaring in light of a recent post by CEO Mark Zuckerberg boasting of how his platform had slapped warnings on upwards of 40 million Covid-19-related posts, deterring some 95 percent of would-be viewers from clicking through to the original content.

'Oh dear': Ricky Gervais AGAIN roasts virtue-signaling celebs lecturing people over Covid-19

Comedian Ricky Gervais is torching attention-seeking celebrities during the Covid-19 pandemic as brutally as when he hosted the Golden Globes, saying that "people are just tired of being lectured to" in a new interview.

At this point, more than a month into the pandemic, there is a rabbit hole of celebrity videos preaching to the rest of the world about the coronavirus, and Gervais thinks he knows why.

"Now celebrities think: 'The general public needs to see my face. They can't get to the cinema — I need to do something'," the comedian said in an interview published Thursday in the New York Times of all places.

'Science-based' comrade Alabama: State kidnappings are awesome, all deaths are covid deaths

communists
Comrade Mao of Alabama continues on his crusade to have us all locked up as tightly as possible and for as long as possible by the powers that be (all for our own good of course).

In his recent-most piece he proudly recreates an exchange in which he explained to horrified Off Guardian that yes he was indeed in favor of "breaking the family chain" as he calls it (strictly for epidemics-countering purposes of course):

He went on to stake out a familiar position that Covid is the plague and present lockdowns are good and must be continued lest we die by the millions. Let's take a closer look at his points one by one.

Pandemic and economic collapse: What will the next 60 days bring?

pandemic economic collapse
The news cycle moves so quickly these days writing analysis on current events becomes difficult; the moment you publish an examination of the situation people have already moved on to the next disaster. So, today I'm not going to do that. Instead, let's look at current trends and project what is likely to happen in the next couple of months. In my article 'How The Pandemic Crisis Will Probably Develop Over The Next Year' published in early March, I outlined what I believed would be the major developments on a longer timetable. Some of these predictions have already occurred.

Now I would like to tackle a shorter timetable and focus more specifically on the economic side of things, along with the effects of government lockdowns and how they will continue. Yes, that's right, if you think the "reopening" of the economy is going to be widespread, or that it will last, don't get your hopes up. I am using a 60 day model because I have observed that the average non-aware person appears to be about two months behind those of us in the liberty movement in terms of seeing the dangers ahead.

First and foremost, the lockdown issue is on almost everyone's mind, and as I've been saying for the past month, it would not take long before people start freaking out about their financial prospects once they realize this thing may not be over "in two weeks" as we keep hearing every two weeks from the mainstream media, state governments and Donald Trump. The "two weeks until reopen" mantra is designed to keep the public placated and docile, and the establishment will continue to use it until people are finally fed up, which is already beginning to happen.
