The UFO Traffic Report for Monday, April 27, 2009, includes 14 selected sightings over nine states, according to witness statements filed in the past 48 hours with the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.

Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If MUFON investigates and reports back on any of these cases, I will update this page. You can read my selected cases by type of UFO report at the UFO Traffic Report main page. These reports are unedited.

First up are three cases of unusual orange-colored lights. A California witness reports six lights flying in formation that stop, break formation, and revolve around each other, before moving on. The Texas case over Austin involves up to 50 lights, some flying in a triangular formation. And an Ohio case nicknamed the "Flying Pumpkin" for its orange color makes a repeat performance at low altitude.

The San Francisco witness, reflecting back on the experience, had this to say to The UFO Examiner: "I had a feeling that whatever the object was, it was a sinister element. Deep in my heart/soul, whatever you want to call it, I felt that this was some ancient malevolence/evil. I had the feeling of wanting to hide from it, and found myself holding my breath as I watched it move across the sky."

UFO reports similar and a decade apart

Two UFO reports nine years apart and separated by the Atlantic Ocean seem to be connected by similarities in witness descriptions of the observed craft.

On Monday, Sept. 4, 1989, a witness in Ardingly, W. Sussex, England, watched as an object came out of the southwest sky and traveled directly overhead at 9:04 p.m. The same object returned and moved back along the same path at 9:20 p.m., according to recently released British UFO files.

The craft was approximately 125 to 175 feet in length, and between 100 and 150 feet wide, according to notations on a drawing that the witness provided. There were two "very powerful" front lights pointing forward, and a string of red and green lights along both sides, with two large circular rear lights.

The witness, who was outside and standing in a field facing southwest, called Gatwick Airport to report the strange craft, and indicated there were other witnesses. Visibility was good with minimum cloud cover.

UFO mysteries - history of the infamous "flying triangles"

They've been around for over 25 years - those mysterious "flying triangles". Where do they come from, and what do they want? Are they "theirs", or actually "ours". Part one, in a series, will examine the history of these fascinating, and mysterious objects.

The modern era of the UFO phenomenon is generally acknowledged to have occurred on June 24, 1947. That's when Idaho pilot, Kenneth Arnold, reported nine silvery, crescent-shaped objects skimming at high speed over the jagged peaks of the Cascade Range in Washington state. Earliest reports usually described saucer-shaped crafts, although both disc-shaped craft, and cylindrical UFO's are still around, the more recent variety are three-sided objects.

The first major wave of sightings occurred in the Hudson Valley areas of upstate New York, and Connecticut , in March, 1983. Witnesses reported seeing 'V-shaped' UFO's and often referred to them as "flying wings". Often times these objects are extremely large in size, some over three-hundred feet in length. They only appeared triangular when viewed from the ground. Seen in profile from the air, they were flat, some reports described them as being wedge-shaped, or shaped like a boomerang - while some mistakenly said they were circular.

China: UFO crash at Chengdu 1947 revealed in declassified files

Recently All News Web published this ground-breaking article revealing the Chengdu Military Zone as China's 'Area 51'.

Now further information has been revealed to confirm this to be the case. An event that might well leave UFO researchers pinching themselves has come to light. High strangeness would be the correct term to describe what appears to be a bizarre co-incidence. An incident that almost entirely mirrors the Roswell crash has been unearthed as happening in 1947 on 18 July in Chengdu!

On July 18th 1947 a farmer near Chengdu found unusual remains of what appeared to be a crashed flying saucer or UFO in the fields. News spread and locals congregated to see the bizarre UFO wreckage. The head of the Physics department of the local university, Professor Zeng Zhanhan, was asked to analyse the wreckage along with other experts and a report was written up. The object was declared a UFO.
