Best of the Web: In the bin: Social accounts deleted as war to "debunk" COVID conspiracies heats up

facebook key
Social media giants are removing millions of posts and accounts promoting coronavirus conspiracy theories and anti-lockdown protests.

And Australian groups are in the firing line.

On Monday, Facebook deleted a prominent anti-lockdown conspiracy group, Millions Rise for Australia.

The group, which had 120,000 followers, had been sharing COVID conspiracy theories and encouraging its followers to attend upcoming Freedom Day protests on September 5, taking place across major cities.

In a statement to The New Daily, a Facebook spokesperson said: "We removed this group and others for repeated violations of our Community Standards".

"We remove misinformation that could lead to imminent physical harm, and restrict access to any content that violates local government guidance about social distancing.''

The group's members were left angry at its deletion and quickly tried starting up new "backup" groups under similar names.

Question

Best of the Web: Will you choose freedom?

love freedom inspiration
In George Orwell's classic dystopian novel "1984," protagonist Winston wonders whether he is the only person who retains a real memory and doubts the narrative of The Party. He has no way to find out whether everyone else truly believes the government-revised version of history, or simply acts like they do; discussing such matters is verboten, punishable by vaporization: deletion from history. Fortunately we are not quite at that point in the United States — no one has yet been vaporized.

However, we seem to be imprisoned by the force of social disapproval just as surely as Winston was imprisoned by the threat of instant death. Millions of lockdown opponents won't make their position known even to their closest family and friends; taking a position publicly is unthinkable — they would lose social standing, clients, and possibly even their jobs. Thanks to this dynamic, the pro-lockdown crowd enjoys the appearance of majority consensus, and everyone gets...more lockdown.

Best of the Web: WHO special envoy heaps praise on Sweden's Covid strategy

Comment: Yes, SWEDEN's. So the WHO isn't behind the lockdown drive...

Dr. David Nabarro

One of the World Health Organization's six special envoys on Covid-19 has highlighted Sweden's virus response as a model that other countries should be emulating in the long run.

Dr. David Nabarro, speaking in a radio interview with Magic Talk in New Zealand, said, "For all countries, the real approach we've got to aim for is through behavior that's adopted everywhere."

Nabarro said the key to a sustainable coronavirus strategy is trust, and pointed to Sweden as a case in point. The Nordic nation imposed far fewer restrictions on movement than others, and instead relied on Swedes to act responsibly and embrace the guidelines laid out by the country's health authorities.

Best of the Web: A warning from history: The Carrington event was not unique

On Sept. 1st, 1859, the most ferocious solar storm in recorded history engulfed our planet. It was "the Carrington Event," named after British scientist Richard Carrington, who witnessed the flare that started it. The storm rocked Earth's magnetic field, sparked auroras over Cuba, the Bahamas and Hawaii, set fire to telegraph stations, and wrote itself into history books as the Biggest. Solar. Storm. Ever.

But, sometimes, what you read in history books is wrong.

"The Carrington Event was not unique," says Hisashi Hayakawa of Japan's Nagoya University, whose recent study of solar storms has uncovered other events of comparable intensity. "While the Carrington Event has long been considered a once‐in‐a‐century catastrophe, historical observations warn us that this may be something that occurs much more frequently."

Comment: Taking into account Electric Universe theory, it's notable that Wikipedia's entry for the year 1770 records that on July 1st Lexell's Comet (D/1770 L1) passed Earth at a distance of 2184129 km, the closest approach by a comet in recorded history. The extreme solar storm of 1770 is thought to have occurred just over a month later.

In Earth Changes and the Human-Cosmic Connection, Pierre Lescaudron details the electrical interaction involved between a comet and the Sun, and, considering the 1770 time frame above, the following excerpt could go some way towards explaining the occurrence of the powerful sunspot and subsequent geomagnetic storm:
Because of their highly eccentric orbits, the trajectory followed by most comets is almost perpendicular to the Sun's electric field. This means that the surrounding electric potential rapidly changes during the comet's journey across the solar system.1 This subjects the comet to increasing electric stress brought on by increasing electric potential difference between the comet and its surrounding space. This imbalance in electric potential triggers massive solar discharges and comet outbursts [...]

1 Thornhill, W. & Talbott, D., The Electric Universe, p. 90-95
In our own time, when we consider how many comets have been recorded in our skies of late, our entry into a grand solar minimum, that Earth's weakening geomagnetic field has reached an all time low - which serves to shield our planet from incoming space weather - an extreme solar storm event similar to any of those mentioned above is highly possible and could be a catastrophe for our planet as we know it.

Best of the Web: OffGuardian report from 'Unite for Freedom' protest in Trafalgar Square, London

Unite for Freedom protest was frenetic, cathartic and necessary - but held back by distractions and contradictions
trafalgar square protest covid-19
© Off-Guardian.org
OffG's Samuel May, aka Admin2, was in London for the Unite for Freedom protest, and shares his experiences and impressions.
It is estimated that approximately 10,000 gathered in Trafalgar Square to protest on 29 August. This may be an underestimate. I perched atop a portacabin to gain the footage of the turnout you see here, and later joined the march to Downing Street.

The most notable thing was the huge diversity of those attending. So many different ethnicities. So much varying dress sense, hinting at so many varied backgrounds.

Middle-aged, middle-class women who looked like they'd never attended a rally in their lives. Festival-wear-clad individuals with long hair, who looked like they probably had. Burly, vocal, tattooed gentlemen and professional-looking types. People old and young, although I would say young people were underrepresented at this demonstration.

The atmosphere was peaceful and welcoming. The sense of relief at being amongst a crowd of similarly-minded people, of feeling some safety in numbers for a brief and rare time, was visible on the faces of all those around.

The tone of the crowd, frequently chanting 'Shame on you' at police and establishment figures, was passionate and angry, but not at all violent. There was no hint of violence throughout the protest, reflected in the very low number of police arrests. I think it was two, including a gentleman in his 70s.

Comment: The police arrested one of the event organizers as he was leaving and the crowd was dispersing: Piers Corbyn, brother of the former Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn. He later said:
"After the rally had finished, I was saying goodbye to people. I was just looking around thinking I had better go now, and then they [the police] just grabbed me from behind.

"I was not expecting it at all. They frogmarched me - they didn't handcuff me - and told me they were arresting me for contravening the coronavirus regulations for organising a gathering of more than 30 people."
Corbyn said he was held for 10 hours by police before being fined, despite having fully cooperated with police and local authorities in the run-up to the event.

Best of the Web: The Totalitarian Future Globalists Want For The Entire World Is Being Revealed

mask protest
All over the Western world ever since 9/11 there have been incremental steps towards what many liberty advocates would call a "police state"; a system in which governments are no longer restricted by the boundaries of civil liberties and are given the power to do just about anything they want in the name of public safety. The use of "the law" as a tool for injecting tyranny into a culture is the first tactic of all totalitarians.

The idea is that by simply writing government criminality into the law books, that criminality somehow becomes justified by virtue of legal recognition. It's all very circular. Whenever government abuse of the people is initiated, it's always initiated in the name of what's "best for society as a whole". To save society, the individuals that make up a society must be sublimated or destroyed. This mentality is the complete opposite of what the Founding Fathers in America fought and died for, but as Thomas Jefferson once said:
"Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual."
In countries like Australia, which claim to value Western democratic principles of liberty and rule by the people, the perception is that civil rights are codified into the legal framework just as they are in the US. However, there are some glaring differences and issues; specifically, Australian citizens (like many European citizens) have absolutely no means to compel their government or the elites that influence their government to limit themselves. It is these nations, in which the populations have been mostly disarmed and pacified, that any agenda for tyranny will first be established. But we will get to that in a moment...

Best of the Web: CDC quietly publishes the REAL Covid-19 death toll: Only 9,210 Americans died FROM Covid-19 - The rest had other serious illnesses

cdc building
So let's get this straight - based on the recommendation of doctors Fauci and Birx the US shut down the entire economy based on 9,000 American deaths due entirely to the China coronavirus?

We were first to report that the Director General of the WHO on March 3, 2020 a set off the panic with his highly flawed statement:
While many people globally have built up immunity to seasonal flu strains, COVID-19 is a new virus to which no one has immunity. That means more people are susceptible to infection, and some will suffer severe disease.

Globally, about 3.4% of reported COVID-19 cases have died. By comparison, seasonal flu generally kills far fewer than 1% of those infected.
This statement caused a global panic. We, however, knew it was wrong and we wrote about it on March 17, 2020. Here is the video of Dr. Ghebreyesus's remarks.

The WHO leader's coronavirus death rate number of 3.4% was false and we proved this in our post at the time.

The 77 year-old Democrat is happy associating with a rapper who revels in women being whores and hypersexualized objects. But does he even know what her latest hit, WAP, stands for? Has he listened to its words or seen the video?

Folks, the culture war is over, and we on the right side of things have lost. Nothing is too low, too vile, too disgusting for the Left to embrace and for most Americans to go along with.

Yes, there are Americans who hate this stuff, but no one cares. I don't even want to bring up Cardi B's video of her performing her latest hit, WAP, with my 17-year-old daughters for fear they'll YouTube it to see what I'm talking about.

I haven't listened to it or watched it, but to my shame, I did listen to NWA in the '90s, and they were just as bad. Honestly, I'd sometimes like to leave society behind and cloister up somewhere on an island with like-minded people.

Comment: What's even weirder about Biden's handlers pushing him into this critter's orbit is that they specifically chose her to be the man's first 'interviewer' of his entire campaign!

This time in 2016, Never-Trumpers were ranting about how "unpresidential" Trump was - and they certainly could make a valid case - but the candidate they today expect to unseat Trump is going way, WAY further 'out there' to 'make an impression on the American people'.

US Democratic Presidential candidate finally gives media interview... to vapid celebrity 'Cardi B'
