The reference is to Victor Schœlcher, the 19th-century politician who's long been lauded for his role in abolishing slavery in France and its colonial holdings. French President Emmanuel Macron rightly condemned the act, as did cabinet minister Annick Giradin, who denounced the destruction of monuments that embody the nation's "collective memory." And the mayor of Martinique's capital warned against la tentation de réécrire l'histoire — the temptation to rewrite history.

The enduring appeal of fascism is that it requires so little from us... so little independent thought; just our basic belief and adherence to a limited set of popularly-shared directives and narratives that once fully accepted, relieve us of the need to address stubborn questions or to fret over subtle differences of opinion and feeling. Continual propaganda is there to reassure us that we are complete, that we know all that is important to know — that we are rational, pragmatic and moral... that the science has been settled and that we are all a part of something historic.

Such a surrender to constricted narratives cuts across all classes and income brackets. Neither the most educated nor the least uneducated retain any special advantage in the face of powerful consensus-shaping propaganda.

PROPAGANDA is, of course, the life-blood of authoritarian control. Maintaining the economic, governmental and scientific frameworks of a modern technocratic "operating system" would be impossible without propaganda's divisive assault. When truth is seen as a liability to power, it must always be disallowed, with all instances of it effectively penalized.

Radio, television, the Internet and their constant enabler, popular "science" — operate today as their own religions, reliant for their success upon the unquestioning devotion of the masses. The currency that we use to pay for admission to the electronic spectacle is our attention, and in such hyper-mediated times as these, those charges mount up exponentially, until we generally find ourselves at some point, broke and spiritually exhausted by soul-crushing denial and disconnection.

Department of Defense to use kinetic weapons to defeat and or mitigate incoming city, continent killer, asteroids

The National Near-Earth Object Preparedness Strategy and Action Plan obtained by Intellihub reveals that a presidential level interagency working group for detecting and mitigating the impact of earthbound near-earth objects has been activated and is currently working to detect and mitigate asteroids or comets from striking our planet.

The official National Science Council plan named DAMIEN which stands for "Detecting and Mitigating the Impact of Earth-bound Near-Earth Objects" authored in June of 2018 reveals how the U.S. government has been improving "our Nation's preparedness to address the hazard of NEO impacts by leveraging and enhancing existing national and international assets and adding important capabilities across government."

The plan comprised by the National Science and Technology Council, the Committee on Homeland and National Security, and the Interagency Working Group for Detecting and Mitigating Impacts of Earth-Bound Near-Earth Objects (DAMIEN) (IWG) "builds on efforts by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and Department of Energy (DOE) to detect and characterize the NEO population and to prevent and respond to NEO impacts on Earth" and has been activated through the Stafford Act which was invoked by President Donald Trump several weeks ago in order to help fight the coronavirus.

Multiple waterspouts were spotted swirling simultaneously off Louisiana's coast on August 20, as severe storms battered the region with hail.

The list of practices no longer having any conceivable rationale includes:

• Closing down schools.
• Closing down gyms, barber shops, or any other businesses.
• Limiting the number of patrons allowed in restaurants or other businesses at one time.
• Mass testing for the COVID-19 virus.
• Putting healthy people in quarantine.
• Keeping a distance of 3, 6, or some other arbitrary number of feet away from healthy individuals.
• Healthy individuals with no criminal intent wearing masks when it's not Halloween.

Likewise for any other humiliating rituals state and local officials plan on forcibly enacting to keep you safe from the scourge of COVID-19 that their own sense of self-worth precludes participating in.

Australians are likely to face mandatory coronavirus vaccinations if Prime Minister Scott Morrison gets his wish.

The nation is a step closer to gaining access to a vaccine, with the Federal Government securing an international deal to produce a vaccine frontrunner locally if trials succeed.

If that happens, Mr Morrison said Australia would have a target of 95 per cent vaccination, which would account for people with health conditions that prevented them being vaccinated.

"I would expect it to be as mandatory as you could possibly make it," he told Melbourne radio station 3AW.

"There are always exemptions for any vaccine on medical grounds, but that should be the only basis.

New Zealand's High Court has ruled that the country's first nine-day, Covid-19 lockdown from March 26 to April 3 was unlawful as it infringed on people's rights and freedoms without a legal basis.

The High Court of New Zealand ruled on Wednesday that the country's stay-at-home orders, under threat of punishment, were in breach of civil liberties after lawyer Andrew Borrowdale launched a suit against the government in July.

A panel of three judges waved off a number of associated complaints but conceded that authorities should have written the order into law before using the threat of police detention to keep people inside.

Incumbent Lois Frankel and social media firebrand Laura Loomer won their respective primaries Tuesday, setting the tone for what will be a fiery, nationally watched congressional election in November.

Frankel, a former West Palm Beach mayor seeking her fifth term in U.S. House District 21, beat newcomer Guido Weiss by a landslide to win the Democratic nomination. Frankel captured 86.40% of the votes to Weiss' 13.60%.

"Every election night is exciting, no matter how many times you are in it," Frankel said Tuesday night from her home in West Palm Beach.

While Frankel was celebrating her quick win, Loomer was surrounded by an all-star cast of conservative and far-right leaders toasting her win in the GOP primary.

Among those gathering to watch returns with Loomer were political strategist Roger Stone, British writer Milo Yiannopoulos and Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes.


Even President Donald Trump weighed in on Loomer's victory via Twitter.

"Great going Laura," he wrote. "You have a great chance against a Pelosi puppet!"
