YouTube announces adjustments to already biased algorithms to control political information

YouTubeCensored
© barenakedislam.com
YouTube will bar videos that lie about the mechanics of an election, the company announced in a blog post Monday, but indicated it remains reluctant to crack down more broadly on deceptive political speech, as some critics have demanded.

Why it matters: YouTube's content policies — which are separate from the advertising policies Google outlined in the fall — do not ban political falsehoods at a time when tech platforms are under fire to limit misinformation about candidates and elections.

Driving the news: In new explanations refining its stance, YouTube clarified how its deceptive practices policy applies to election-related content, including deepfakes.

Nirbhaya case: Govt. wants no delay in hanging, Delhi High Court reserves order

Nirbhaya case
The Central government on Sunday told the Delhi High Court that the indefinite stay imposed on the execution of the four convicts in the Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case was a "deliberate, well-calculated and well-thought out attempt to frustrate the process of law" and that there should be "no delay" in their hanging.

The bench of Justice Suresh Kumar Kait, holding during a special court proceeding on the weekend, later reserved its order on the Centre''s plea.

Appearing for the Centre, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said: "In the interest of the society and victim, there should be no delay. Even in the case of the convicts, the Supreme Court says that there should be no delay as it would have dehumanising effect on the convict."

The Super Bowl's biggest losers: The boys and girls being sold for sex 20 times a day

abused child

Comment: Dear reader, even if the numbers of abused children stated below is true by half, the implications for just how sick and predatory a society the US is - is profoundly disturbing. Though we at SOTT.net have been publishing reports and news on rampant pedophilia and sex trafficking for many years, few articles approach the extent to which the problem exists in the US as the following does by John W. Whitehead, the highly credible publisher of The Rutherford Institute. Read it and weep.

There can only be one winner emerging from this year's Super Bowl LIV showdown between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs, but the biggest losers will be the hundreds of young girls and boys — some as young as 9 years old — who will be bought and sold for sex during the course of the big game.

It's common to refer to this evil practice, which has become the fastest growing business in organized crime and the second most-lucrative commodity traded illegally after drugs and guns as child sex trafficking, but what we're really talking about is rape.

Adults purchase children for sex at least 2.5 million times a year in the United States.

It's not just young girls who are vulnerable to these predators, either.

According to a USA Today investigative report, "boys make up about 36% of children caught up in the U.S. sex industry (about 60% are female and less than 5% are transgender males and females)."

Consider this: every two minutes, a child is exploited in the sex industry.

Denver nonprofit buys hotel, transforms it into 139 mini-apartments for the homeless

Homeless hotel
Across the United States, sky-high housing costs, a severe shortage of affordable housing, and stagnating wages have shredded the social fabric of countless communities, driving increases in homelessness and long-term poverty.

In Denver, Colorado, the problem has grown in pace with national trends, with one local study showing that at least 5,755 homeless people reside in the Mile High City.

So when a Quality Inn and Suites located on a major road went up for sale, the president of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless (CCH) saw the perfect opportunity to turn the former hotel into a place where unhoused residents could rebuild their lives.

John Parvensky, who has headed the local nonprofit organization since 1985, purchased the 139-room hotel for $8.4 million using a combination of private, state, and city funds before renovating the property and renaming it Fusion Studios. The building is the 17th of its kind that he has opened in the 30-plus years he's been working on the issue.

Gangs of herpes-ridden monkeys are roaming throughout northeast Florida

monkey
We all know about the legendary "Florida Man" and his often-disturbing hijinks — but now he may be facing some stiff competition in the form of roving bands of feral, disease-ridden Florida monkeys.

Gangs of herpes-infected rhesus macaques are apparently roaming throughout northeast Florida, according to First Coast News. And they're posing a threat to both locals and the environment.

The monkeys had first been introduced to the area in the 1930s by local cruise operator Colonel Tooey's Jungle Cruise, which released a dozen monkeys over the years onto an artificial island in Silver Springs State Park near Ocala, Florida. However, the monkeys managed to escape the island by swimming away before they proceeded to reproduce at alarming rates.

By the 1980s, there were roughly 400 macaques reportedly living in the area. And the monkeys are now being spotted across the region in such communities as Jacksonville, St. Johns, St. Augustine, Palatka, Welaka, and Elkton.

Pedophiles share child porn on Twitter with impunity under the protection of the platform's terms of service

Twitter pedophilia
On Twitter, pedophiles seeking to exchange child pornography and other child sex exploitation images are utilizing secret hashtags to signal their presence and interest to each other. These accounts are numerous, and Twitter does little to crack down on their existence in spite of reports.
A new investigation by The Post Millennial reveals that the distribution of child pornography is happening in plain sight. While many believe the distribution of these illicit materials is relegated to the seedy underbelly of the internet, this belief is far from true.

On Twitter, pedophiles seeking to exchange child pornography and other child sex exploitation images are utilizing secret hashtags to signal their presence and interest to each other. The hashtags #megalinks and #megadump are littered with tweets from otherwise empty accounts offering or soliciting illegal material.

One account offered a "megalink" for "£2 to my cashapp," with one of the subsequent hashtags being "underage." The video that accompanied the tweet was a screenshot that included a number of folders, one of which was tilted "CP," short for "child pornography," and another titled "500+teenie videos."

These accounts are numerous, and Twitter does little to crack down on their existence in spite of reports.

Comment: Twitter's new terms of service explicitly allows pedophiles to discuss 'attraction towards minors' on their platform
Social media giant Twitter has quietly amended their terms of service to allow for "discussions related to... attraction towards minors" to be allowed on their platform.

"Discussions related to child sexual exploitation as a phenomenon or attraction towards minors are permitted, provided they don't promote or glorify child sexual exploitation in any way," reads Twitter's terms of service. [..]

Twitter's pro-pedo policy may have been implemented at the behest of Dr. James Cantor, who describes himself as a proud Jewish homosexual. Cantor is a leading researcher and advocate for pedophiles, who he refers to as minor-attracted persons.[..]

While conservatives, libertarians and Trump supporters regularly get booted from Twitter for constitutionally-protected speech, Twitter actively harbors pedophiles and their enablers. Big Brother is not looking out for the sanctity of the children.
Twitter essentially laid down a welcome mat for pedophiles - not that it's all that surprising given that elites are known for such proclivities. However, disclosing inconvenient truths that ruffle the feathers of the PTB will get someone thrown off the platform in short order.

The Woker: Joaquin Phoenix calls out film industry's 'systemic racism' during BAFTA Award speech

Comment: Christ, first his 'go vegan to save planet' spiel, now this...

joaquin phoenix bafta woke
Joaquin Phoenix
Joaquin Phoenix called out "systemic racism" in the movie industry during his acceptance speech at the British Academy Film Awards on Sunday.

Phoenix said he felt a range of emotions as he accepted the best actor award for the title role in the movie "Joker" at the BAFTAs, Britain's equivalent of the Oscars.

"I feel very honored and privileged to be here tonight," Phoenix, 45, said at the start of his speech. "BAFTAs have always been supportive of my career and I'm deeply appreciative."

"But I have to say, that I also feel conflicted because so many of my fellow actors that are deserving don't have that same privilege."

No person of color was nominated in the best acting categories and no woman was featured in the list of nominations for best director.

Comment: Maybe because they weren't as good as...?

RACIST!

Comment: All that public self-abasement about 'privilege', when Phoenix could have just let his work in Joker speak for itself. Still, the crowd of the woke, Brit version of Hollyweird ate it up, though those on the Joker set have said he was difficult and unpredictable to work with. Maybe that's what 40 years of veganism can do to a brain.

'Drone' sighting temporarily halts flights at Madrid's Barajas airport - Upon reopening, fighter jet escorts Air Canada plane's emergency landing

madrid barajas airport
Barajas Airport, Madrid, Spain
Madrid's Adolfo Suarez-Barajas international airport resumed operations after briefly shutting its airspace on Monday due to the presence of a drone in the takeoff area, Spain's transport ministry said.

Spanish airport operator AENA said 26 flights had to be rerouted away from Barajas after the sightings. A transport ministry source said two pilots had detected a drone flying near the takeoff area alongside the airport.

Enaire, Spain's air navigation service provider, said it was gradually resuming normal traffic in coordination with police, who were investigating the presence of drones and monitoring for any further sightings.

"At 2:20 p.m. (1330 GMT) Madrid-Barajas airport capacity has been recovered with 51 landings per hour and 100 total flights," Enaire said in a statement on Twitter.

Comment: The London Gatwick shutdown in Dec 2018 was on and off for days, and it wasn't caused by 'drones'...
UK police: 'Drone' that shut down Gatwick Airport for days last December 'could see what was happening on runways, was eavesdropping on radio communications'
Now, with today's incident at Madrid Barajas Airport, the shutdown could well have simply been caused by the innocuous intrusion of a small civilian-operated drone. After all, the incident lasted just two hours and didn't cause much disruption.

However, when flights recommenced mid-afternoon, this happened:
Air Canada plane completes emergency landing in Madrid after lost landing gear forced fighter jet escort
RT.com, 3 February 2020
An Air Canada Boeing 767 has safely completed an emergency landing at Madrid's Barajas airport after part of its landing gear fell off and entered its engines.

An F-18 fighter jet from the Spanish Air Force was scrambled to escort the stricken plane as it circled Madrid burning off fuel ahead of the landing. Fire engines were seen rushing to the plane after it touched down on the tarmac but no fire was reported.

Video footage recorded by a passenger on board shows the military jet flying alongside the plane, which is reportedly carrying 128 passengers.

According to Spain's main pilot union, SEPLA, the aircraft lost pieces of its landing gear on takeoff from Madrid's Barajas airport. The aircraft was then forced to circle the airport for hours to burn fuel in order to reach the maximum allowed weight to make a safe landing. [...]

Eyewitness video purporting to show the plane flying unusually low over the Madrid suburbs has been uploaded online. According to Flightradar24 the aircraft involved, a Boeing 767-300ER, is about 30 years old.

Scrambling a fighter jet to escort a civilian aircraft as it 'burns off fuel for hours by flying super low over a city'? All because 'an engine ate a wheel'?

Is it standard operating procedure to escort civilian aircraft in cases other than possible terror threats?

Something seems off there.

UPDATE 22:00 CET

Correction: a Spanish military jet was apparently scrambled just to "evaluate the damage done to the landing gear of the aircraft," not to escort the Air Canada plane the whole time it was flying over and around Madrid. Here's Flight AC837's wacky holding pattern, per flightradar24.com:

Russian PM Mishustin: Coronavirus-infected foreigners to be 'deported' if necessary - Deputy PM later walks back statement

Russia can isolate, quarantine, and deport foreigners struck down with the new Chinese coronavirus. The step was announced on Monday by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

However, in the evening, Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Galikova moved to calm fears of deportation and insisted that all foreign citizens diagnosed in Russia will be admitted for treatment until they recover completely. She stated that after being given the all-clear, and discharged, they "will decide themselves whether to stay in our country or not."

The country reported its first cases on Friday, raising fears that the epidemic affecting neighboring China could prompt a similar health emergency in Russia. However, Mishustin says the situation is currently contained, and there's no need for alarm.

Comment: Govts everywhere are being very indecisive about this Wuhan outbreak. They seem to be genuinely hesitant and uncertain about whether it's potentially The Plague or just 'something to keep an eye on'.
