Fury as Rule Britannia & Land of Hope and Glory may be cut from BBC Proms amid BLM protest

bbc proms
The Defund the BBC campaign has hit back at the Beeb over its potential plans to axe the British anthems from the Proms line-up. Defund the BBC tweeted: "If the BBC do go ahead with stripping the last night of the Proms of patriotic songs #DefundTheBBC will organise a mass defund in retaliation."

Defund the BBC accused the broadcaster of "using every licence fee payer funded opportunity to signal its disdain for the British people".

Calvin Robinson, who describes himself as a Defund the BBC campaign champion, also tweeted: "Why is the BBC pandering to hard-left extremists?

"Last Night of the Proms is a British institution. It's one of the rare occasions we still expect a little patriotism; That's not a bad thing, our Britishness is something that unites us! #DontDivideUs #DefundTheBBC"

Back in June, protests erupted around the world after African American George Floyd was killed by white police officers in the US.

The protests also sparked a review into the UK's colonial history. Several statues and monuments were destroyed in wake of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Thousands plan to protest against tyrannical 'Stage Four' lockdown measures in Melbourne

Melbourne lockdown
A man is detained after refusing to move on during an anti-lockdown protest in Melbourne last weekend
Melburnians fed up with Victoria's Stage Four lockdown restrictions are planning to hit the streets in protest in defiance of the emergency laws.

At least 11,000 have already committed to the 'Freedom Day' protest, which is planned for Saturday, September 5th.

This is ahead of Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews' pledge to end Stage Four lockdown on September 13 - but he has repeatedly warned that could be extended at any time.

Rumblings about a planned protest have been circulating for days, with a protest initially planned to go ahead on the day the lockdown was to end.

That date has now been pushed forward to September 5, with a public Facebook page quickly amassing thousands of supporters.

18 year old stabbed and set on fire in the Bronx as crime wave sweeps New York

Winston Ortiz
© via The New York TimesAn undated photo provided to The New York Times shows Winston Ortiz, 18, who died after he was stabbed and set on fire in the hallway of a Bronx apartment building on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 12, 2020, the police said.
Winston Ortiz was shy teenager who family members said had become depressed in recent days over a breakup with his first girlfriend. So, he was excited when he heard from her on Wednesday afternoon, they said, and he left his family's Bronx apartment in high spirits.

He never returned.

About 3 p.m., Ortiz was stabbed in the chest, doused with a flammable liquid and then set on fire while he was still alive in the hallway of a nearby apartment building, police said. He died hours later at a hospital in Harlem.

The next day, police arrested his former girlfriend's brother, Adones Betances, 22, on charges of manslaughter and murder. Detectives believed that the two men had argued about Ortiz's relationship with Betances' 15-year-old sister, said a law enforcement official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss an open investigation.

Comment: What with the lockdown, riots and the plummeting standards of living, unsurprisingly an increasing number of Americans would prefer to live anywhere but a big city.

Best of the Web: Lockdown backlash: Thousands defy govt orders to demonstrate at freedom rally in Dublin

Comment: Just days after Ireland was placed 'partially' back into lockdown, and during which time it emerged that government ministers and other big-wigs broke their own rules to get together for a golfing holiday at a resort in the west of Ireland, the people - at least, a portion of them - are saying they've had enough...

lockdown protest dublin
The protest took place against oppressive government restrictions and mandates. A HFI press release stated that the protest was held by Health Freedom Ireland (HFI) and Yellow Vest Ireland, protesting against government mandates, demanding transparency, proportionality of decisions and accountability by government officials and advisors.

The event took place today, Saturday, August 22nd 2020 at 2pm in front of the Custom House, Dublin 1. There have been mixed reports on the numbers of attendees at the event, with RTE suggesting 'hundreds' attended whereas citizen journalists claim there were thousands of people at the event.

This peaceful protest took the form of speeches and a march. Purple T-shirts were worn by supporters of Health Freedom Ireland as others wore yellow vests, many with "United Patriots" written on the jackets in solidarity. HFI has no political affiliations.

Speakers at the event included:
  • Ben Gilroy, anti-eviction and civil rights activist who spoke about constitutional rights
  • Michael Leahy, Human Rights and mental health advocate
  • Ken Duffy, motivational speaker and mental health advocate, speaking on human rights and homelessness in Ireland
  • Maeve Murran, Health Freedom Ireland co-chair, speaking about the proportionality of restrictions
  • Una McGurk, barrister and senior counsel, speaking about the impact of mandating masks without conclusive evidence
  • Prof. Dolores Cahill on the topics of natural immunity, vaccine development and testing accuracy

Comment: Irish MSM reported that just 'hundreds' of 'far-fight types' attended:

Best of the Web: Bait-and-switch: How they've changed the Covid conversation

coronavirus mask
Do you remember five months ago? Normally I wouldn't ask, but the world is moving incredibly fast these days.

Do you remember that it was predicted that covid19 would kill literally millions of people?

Do you remember that hospitals were going to be over-run with patients and our struggling medical infrastructure was going to collapse under their weight?

Do you remember that locking down global society was the only way to prevent this disaster? That we had to do it, regardless of how much damage it did to the livelihoods and security of countless millions of people?

Final question - do you know how many people in the United Kingdom officially died with (not of) the coronavirus yesterday?

It's 12.

Big Tech, monopoly and the pretense of capitalism

All those who believe the 'privatized totalitarianism' of Big Tech 'platform plantations' are 'capitalism' have been brainwashed into servitude by Big Tech's pretense of capitalism.

puppet
What do you call an economy of monopolies without competition or any regulatory restraints? An economy of monopolies that control both the buying and selling in the markets they control? Monopolies with the power to commit legalized fraud and the profits to buy political influence? Monopolies whose black box algorithms are all-powerful but completely opaque to public scrutiny?

Call it whatever you want, but it certainly isn't Capitalism, which requires competition and market transparency to price capital, labor, risk, credit, goods, services, etc.

Black Box Monopoly is the death of Capitalism as it eliminates competition and market transparency.

The American economy is now dominated by Big Tech Black Box Monopolies, and thus what we have isn't a "free market" system (a.k.a. capitalism), it's the pretense of capitalism, a slick PR cover for the most rapacious form of exploitation.

Best of the Web: Multiple studies predicted governments become authoritarian in response to pandemics

Covid Washington DC
Over the last eight months we have seen many governments around the world enacting authoritarian practices in the name of preventing the spread of COVID-19. All the way back in January, the Chinese government began welding people in their homes to stop them from potentially contaminating others. As the panic spread around the world eager politicians now had the excuse they needed to push policies which restrict freedom of movement and speech.

The authoritarian measures have now grown to include the following:

- checkpoints (asking about travel, checking temperatures)

- temperature screenings at some airports

- contact tracing apps cataloging all your movements and contacts

- emergency orders/executive orders supporting forced vaccinations, isolation, and quarantine

- involuntary quarantine centers/camps

- thermal drones watching people form the sky

- talk of mandatory vaccines (or making it difficult to live without vaccination)

-face recognition tech to fight covid19 (by tracking people violating lockdowns)

- discussion of immunity passports/digital certificates to travel

- censorship of alternative viewpoints

- raiding of businesses for not closing

- arrests of people violating lockdown (and this, and this)

- ankle monitors for those violating quarantine orders

- roving cops searching for people not in the "proper" places

Virginia Health Commissioner says he'll mandate a COVID-19 vaccine

Virginia commissioner of health
State Health Commissioner Dr. Norman Oliver told 8News on Friday that he plans to mandate coronavirus vaccinations for Virginians once one is made available to the public.

Virginia state law gives the Commissioner of Health the authority to mandate immediate immunizations during a public health crisis if a vaccine is available. Health officials say an immunization could be released as early as 2021.

Dr. Oliver says that, as long as he is still the Health Commissioner, he intends to mandate the coronavirus vaccine.

"It is killing people now, we don't have a treatment for it and if we develop a vaccine that can prevent it from spreading in the community we will save hundreds and hundreds of lives," Oliver said.

Under state law, only people with a medical exemption could refuse the mandate.

Democratic mayoral candidate Sabrina Belcher faked her own kidnapping to win votes

Sabrina Belcher
A Democratic candidate running for mayor in South Carolina was reportedly arrested for allegedly faking her own kidnapping to try to win votes.

Sabrina Belcher was arrested and charged with conspiracy and filing a false police report after police say she filmed herself being kidnapped, beaten up and robbed in a Facebook live video Tuesday, which she orchestrated, according to The State. Police say she did this to get "sympathy" ahead of the election.

After she claimed to have been kidnapped she told police that she was "assaulted and kidnapped by an unknown man during an attempted robbery." Belcher also said the unknown man broke her car windows.

Comment: Sabrina Belcher's sociopathic acts of deceit - in order to gain political power - are actually no different (if much less harmful) than the trove of stories we've published here about the DNC's many, many High level crimes. We guess she chose the right party to run under even if she's sabotaged herself right out of the gate with her all-too-obvious ploy.
