When an ugly power play marks the end of the career of a phenomenally successful politician, it presents a painful sight. From all accounts in the British press in the most recent weeks, it was clear that the night of the long knives was approaching for the most photogenic prime minister Great Britain and Northern Ireland ever produced — Liz Truss.

Enoch Powell, if I remember correctly, once said that the tragedy of most politicians is that they do not know when to quit public life before the sun starts descending westward on their career. Indeed, Truss invited upon herself such an ignominious end to her stunning political career.

For, she should have known that in life, it's more important to be aware of one's weaknesses than strengths. But she was fired up by an overvaulting ambition to slip into the shoes of Margaret Thatcher, while it was crystal clear to anyone who watched her controversial visit to Moscow in February that Truss was perilously close to being exposed as an incompetent politician. Come to think of it, she eagerly sought an invitation from Moscow keenly seeking media headlines as a tough-talking diplomat even as the storms were gathering over Ukraine.

Comment: Liz Truss is now gone - having been ousted by those who've decided she just isn't authoritarian or globalist enough to run the UK...

Sorry to burden you with film references, but this iconic scene from Thelma and Louise seems to capture the current zeitgeist infecting Europe and the United States:


I will leave it to you to decide if Europe is Thelma or Louise. In either case, this is a suicide pact that the United States and Europe are jointly executing without taking time to think about the ultimate consequences of their current actions.

Both the United States and Europe have expressed openly their goal of getting rid of Vladimir Putin. Putin, in their juvenile world, is the source of all suffering and all evil. Quite a powerful guy according to Western mythology. Yet-irony alert-it is the leaders in the West that are being toppled. Joe Biden's party is facing a massive rebuke in the upcoming November election. Italy gave the Prime Minister reins to an outspoken Conservative-a clear rejection of the traditional political hacks that had been in charge in Italy. And the United Kingdom is in the grips of a record setting meltdown of its political order. For the first time since Parliament came into being (we're talking three hundred years), the Prime Minister was forced to resign after 40 days in office. While the Tories are trying to paint lipstick on this pig of a situation and call it Marilyn Monroe, it is a total clown show. The UK will continue to give lip service to backing Ukraine, but the economic reality will dictate either cutting back support in order to maintain the readiness of the British military or gutting the British military in favor of arming Ukraine. The UK cannot do both.


Comment: Just like a business without competent leaders is doomed to fail, so it is with Western countries, whose leaders are anything but competent.


Comment: The wishful thinking of the Western elite is blinding them to what is likely to happen. Reality wins every time over wishful thinking just like the truth wins over lies.

The United States has recently imposed some of the toughest semiconductor-related sanctions it has ever imposed on China. Using the "foreign direct product rule", which prohibits the use of American origin technology to the sanctioned party, even for third party countries, the White House has banned China's entire semiconductor industry from utilizing US-led chipmaking equipment, in a bid to slow down its rise in chip technology. It is the same move the US used against Huawei two years ago, but on a larger scale, and demonstrates President Joe Biden's willingness to double down on confrontation with Beijing, forcing it to pursue a path of self-reliance in semiconductors.

The foreign policy of the United States involves actively destroying globalization in a bid to shore up American unilateral dominance and undermine competitor states. Although the US once believed that globalization served American goals and interests, the story of US policy since Donald Trump became president has been that the mutual integration of US allies and rivals, through trade and investment, is bad and contrary to American interests. Therefore, the United States strives to engineer global political confrontation in order to maintain its critical strategic advantages and divide the world into respective blocs again, so it can legitimize its position through ideology.

Comment: An empire in seeking to maintain its power and position inevitably and simultaneously sows the seeds of its own destruction.

A claim by House minority leader Kevin McCarthy that Republicans could curb US support for Ukraine if they win the midterm elections on November 8 has caught Kiev by surprise, David Arakhamia, who heads President Vladimir Zelensky's party in parliament, has revealed.

Earlier this week, McCarthy said that while still being "important," helping Ukraine in its conflict against Russia couldn't remain the dominating issue on the agenda in Washington anymore. "I think people are gonna be sitting in a recession and they're not going to write a blank check to Ukraine. They just won't do it," he told Punchbowl News. According to a report by Axios on Wednesday, such a sentiment is shared by many other GOP lawmakers.

Madagascar's President Andriy Rajoelina has fired his foreign minister, Richard Randriamandrato, for a vote against Russia at the UN, Reuters reported on Wednesday, citing two unidentified officials.

The country voted along with 142 other nations to condemn Moscow for the "illegal annexation" of former Ukrainian regions during a vote at the UN General Assembly last week. Madagascar had previously abstained from voting on UN resolutions related to the Ukraine crisis as Rajoelina chose to maintain neutrality and non-alignment on the conflict.

Comment: Clearly the FM wasn't speaking on behalf of his country and has been rightfully removed.

France's Macron to impose 2023 budget without parliamentary vote amid strikes and growing protests

With refinery workers striking in France against inflation and the NATO-Russia war in Ukraine escalating, President Emmanuel Macron moved yesterday to ram his 2023 budget through the National Assembly without a vote. After the May 2022 elections, Macron's Renaissance party has only a minority in the Assembly, and its budget was doomed to go down to defeat in a vote.

Ultimately, the Macron government decided yesterday to force approval of the revenues portion of its budget bill, using the French constitution's anti-democratic Article 49-3. This article allows the government to force the Assembly to adopt the budget without a vote, unless it adopts a motion of censure to bring down the government. The government is set to invoke this article again before the end of the week on the financing of Social Security — and, potentially, up to seven times before the budget is adopted.

On the role of the UN Secretariat: it has no mandate to investigate anything regarding United Nations Security Council resolution 2231, Dmitry Polyansky said Russia will re-assess its relations with the UN Secretariat and the secretary-general if they participate in a probe, launched in connection with claims of Iranian drone supplies to Russia, Russian First Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Dmitry Polyansky told reporters.

"On the role of the UN Secretariat: it has no mandate to investigate anything regarding United Nations Security Council resolution 2231," Polyansky said after closed UN Security Council consultations on Iran's alleged drone deliveries to Russia

"We hope that the Secretariat and the secretary-general himself will not again violate the decisions of the UN Security Council, and will not go beyond their technical mandate, and will abstain from engaging in any illegitimate investigation. Otherwise, we will have to reassess our collaboration with them, which is hardly in anyone's interests. We do not want to do it, but there will be no other choice," he added.

In the face of the Fed's intransigent hawkishness we are now on the verge of exposing the worst lies of two generations of people in power. I've maintained for more than a year now that the global oligarchy known here as The Davos Crowd thought they'd run the table on the US and the UK with COVID-19.

The various bailout packages, Pelosi's CARES Act and pending legislation — Build Back Better, etc. — were supposed to destroy the fiscal position of the US once and for all. These were political blackmail to force the Fed not to raise rates when it clearly needed to.

That Pelosi et.al. were only able to pass neutered versions of these bills is a sign that powerful forces behind the scenes are not down with this plan.

Now, in light of the near-complete coup attempt against UK Prime Minister Liz Truss (more on that later this week) we are looking at big power plays to decide whether Davos will retain control over Western policy. Truss' difficulties point to Davos having a few markers to call in here.

But, I want to go back to a couple of weeks ago and also talk about Credit Suisse. At the same time there was a coordinated effort to stop Truss implementing a very non-Davos fiscal program. There was a coordinated whisper campaign to start a bank run on Credit Suisse.

Clearly this attack failed, but it's equally clear Davos activated the next level of their assault on any institution not aligned with them.

In a rare expression of unity between coalition and opposition figures, Defense Minister Benny Gantz and opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday both expressed an unwillingness to alter Israel's policy of not sending defense equipment to Ukraine.

"We are not selling weapons to Ukraine," Gantz told the ultra-Orthodox Kol Chai radio station, noting instead the humanitarian aid Israel has been providing, and vowing to continue such shipments months into Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Gantz also emphasized that Israel had not previously sold weapons to the country.

Yevgen Korniychuk, Ukraine's ambassador to Israel, told the Maariv newspaper on Tuesday that Gantz had unexpectedly canceled a long-awaited call with his Ukrainian counterpart, Oleksii Reznikov, without any explanation earlier this week. Korniychuk added that Ukraine was "disappointed" by the move, and that he didn't think his country's officials would be speaking with the defense minister going forward.

The CDC will vote Thursday to permanently shield Pfizer and Moderna from COVID vaccine injury liability

A CDC committee will convene this week and likely vote Thursday to deliver permanent legal indemnity to Pfizer and Moderna, through the process of adding the drug companies' mRNA injections to the child and adolescent immunization schedules.

By adding the shots to the childhood schedule, the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) will transfer liability for vaccine injuries to the federal government's National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP), allowing for Pfizer and Moderna to finally bring an FDA approved shot to the market without opening itself up to lawsuits. Moreover, it will act as another windfall for companies that have already brought in hundreds of billions of dollars in revenues, by requiring these vaccinations for children who attend public schools.

Comment: Children aside, CDC's scheme is to protect itself by indemnifying the vaccine manufacturers.
