House GOP wants Hunter Biden, Ukraine whistleblower to testify publicly in impeachment

House Republicans have included the Ukraine whistleblower, Hunter Biden and his business partner in their list of witnesses to testify at next week's public impeachment inquiry hearings.

But House Democrats have final approval over which witnesses will be called so it's unlikely that many on the GOP's list will be called in.

"Americans see through this sham impeachment process, despite the Democrats' efforts to retroactively legitimize it last week," House Intelligence Committee member Rep. Devin Nunes wrote in a letter Saturday to committee chairman Adam Schiff.

Deep State's National Security Council: Col. Vindman, the 'expert' with an agenda

Trump
© msnbcUS President Donald Trump
The current frenzy to impeach President Donald Trump sometimes in its haste reveals that which could easily be hidden about the operation of the Deep State inside the federal government. Congress is currently obtaining testimony from a parade of witnesses to or participants in what will inevitably be called UkraineGate, an investigation into whether Trump inappropriately sought a political quid pro quo from Ukrainian leaders in exchange for a military assistance package.

The prepared opening statement by Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman, described as the top Ukraine expert on the National Security Council (NSC), provides some insights into how decision making at the NSC actually works. Vindman was born in Ukraine but emigrated to the United States with his family at age three. He was commissioned as an army infantry officer in 1998 and served in some capacity in Iraq from 2004-5, where he was wounded by a roadside bomb and received a purple heart. Vindman, who speaks both Ukrainian and Russian fluently, has filled a number of diplomatic and military positions in government dealing with Eastern Europe, to include a key role in Pentagon planning on how to deal with Russia.

Epstein, Weinstein, Kavanaugh: Conspiracy, cover-up, catastrophe - who decides?

EpsteinWeinsteinKavanaugh

There is not a clear media standard for how allegations of sexual misconduct are handled, even within the same broadcast network or media outlet. This has been made plainly clear by the way Ronan Farrow's reporting of Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein was covered (or not covered) by NBC, and the way that same network then pounced on the accusations against Brett Kavanaugh, which were unsubstantiated at best. Further corroboration of this problem is most evident with the lack of any mainstream reporting on Jeffrey Epstein's underage sex ring.

Now, Weinstein nor Epstein were not nominated for Supreme Court Justice, neither were appearing before Congress to testify as to their worth to be seated on the highest bench in America. But they were influential men, whose power and reach were felt throughout media, entertainment, politics, and philanthropy.

As outlined in Mollie Hemingway and Carrie Severino's Justice on Trial, when the letter that detailed Christine Blasey-Ford's allegations against Kavanaugh was released, it was jumped at by multiple media outlets almost instantly. The Intercept, Buzzfeed, The New Yorker (Ronan Farrow and Jane Mayer), Politico, the Washington Post (which released the name of the accuser), The Atlantic (in which Caitlin Flanagan wrote about how she believed Blasey-Ford), and HuffPo, all ran with the story before any corroborating evidence came to light. And it's fair to note that none ever did.

First, all the way back in 2005 more than a half decade before the war began CNN's Christiane Amanpour told Assad to his face that regime change is coming. Thankfully this was in a televised and archived interview, now for posterity to behold.

Amanpour, it must be remembered, was married to former US Assistant Secretary of State James Rubin (until 2018), who further advised both President Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Impeachment inquiry: US State Dept. official flagged Hunter Biden's 'conflict of interest' in Ukraine

GeorgeKent
© Jim Lo Scalzo/EPA-EFEGeorge Kent, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia, arrives for his depostition for the US House impeachment inquiry.
George Kent, a career official at the State Department, told House investigators conducting the impeachment inquiry against President Trump that he raised concerns about Hunter Biden's lucrative service on the board of a Ukrainian natural gas company -- but was told that it wasn't appropriate to discuss the matter because of the health struggles of Biden's eldest son, Beau.

According to a transcript of his Oct. 15 closed-door deposition released Thursday, Kent confirmed that he had no "direct knowledge" that U.S. aid to Ukraine was ever connected to the opening of a new investigation against the Bidens concerning their business dealings there.

Kent said that in January or February 2015, he "became aware that Hunter Biden was on the board" of Ukrainian company Burisma Holdings while his father Joe Biden was overseeing Ukraine policy as vice president.
"I did not know that at the time. And when I was on a call with somebody on the vice president's staff and I cannot recall who it was, just briefing on what was happening into Ukraine, I raised my concerns that I had heard that Hunter Biden was on the board of a company owned by somebody that the U.S. Government had spent money trying to get tens of millions of dollars back, and that could create the perception of a conflict of interest."

A UN body has announced that Israel's Jewish Nation-State Law contravenes international human rights laws ratified and adopted by Israel, Arab48 reported yesterday.

The news website reported that the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (UNCESCR) released its observations in the fourth periodic report of Israel on 18 October and highlighted Israel's violation of international law.

According to the website, the UNCESCR's observations included a list of concerns, recommendations and actions that Israel must take in order to comply with its obligations in relations to the international human rights convention that it signed in 1966 and ratified in 1991.

Adalah - the Legal Centre for Minority Rights in Israel said that the findings and recommendations mark the first time that a UN monitoring body determining that the Jewish Nation-State Law "does not comply with a human rights treaty ratified by Israel."

Comment: The UN's concerns, messages and mandates are useless without a means to force Israel into compliance.

Evo Morales has agreed to new elections due to uproar over fraud accusations and results dispute

EvoMorales

The Bolivian president, Evo Morales, is to call fresh elections after international monitors identified serious irregularities in the last vote and recommended a new ballot.

The announcement comes after weeks of unrest over disputed election results, which escalated over the weekend as police forces joined anti-government protests, and the military said it would not "confront the people" who had taken to the streets.

In a televised news conference on Sunday, Morales told journalists he had decided to call fresh elections to "to preserve the new Bolivia, life and democracy".

Morales, who has been Bolivia's president for nearly 14 years, announced he would also replace members of the country's election board. The body has been heavily criticised after an unexplained 24-hour halt in the vote count on 20 October, which showed a shift in favour of Morales when it resumed. The stoppage fed accusations of fraud and prompted an audit of the vote by the Organisation of American States.

CNN enlists help of criminal fraudster Browder & Integrity Initiative 'experts' to fan Russia meddling claims in UK

While the yet-to-be published report on alleged Russian meddling in Brexit is at the center of the political drama in the UK, CNN got the scoop from pundits - the usual suspects when it comes to the Russiagate narrative.

Russiagate might have fizzled out in the US, but CNN apparently has no intention of giving up on the stale narrative - and is now peddling it across the ocean. Saturday's scoop delves into testimonies submitted by "witnesses" during a UK parliamentary investigation into alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 Brexit referendum and 2017 general election. While the report, prepared by the Intelligence and Security Committee (ISC) has not been released yet, and previous reports failed to turn up any damning proof of Russia's influence, CNN's bombshell conveniently revolves around the testimony of Bill Browder, a financier wanted for tax fraud in Russia and one of the leading champions of sanctions against Russia.

CNN says that Browder's was one of two written testimonies the channel got its hands on, in addition to being "briefed" on oral testimonies provided by two other witnesses.

While it might be argued that Browder, the self-proclaimed "No. 1 foreign enemy" of Russian President Vladimir Putin, is a person whose words should hardly be taken at face value in matters related to Russia, CNN does not offer any critical analysis, but rather serves as a mouthpiece for the disgraced entrepreneur.

Comment: What a joke. Browder is a con man, plain and simple. And the rest are just as biased - propagandists, all of them.

Whistleblower and DNC contractor visited Obama WH - must be investigated

A controversial whistleblower who allegedly reported second-hand on President Donald Trump's private conversation with the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the Obama White House on numerous occasions, according to Obama era visitor logs obtained by Judicial Watch.

Last week Real Clear Investigation's first reported the whistleblower's name. It is allegedly CIA officer Eric Ciaramella. His name, however, has been floating around Washington D.C. since the leak of Trump's phone call. It was considered an 'open secret' until reporter Paul Sperry published his article. Ciaramella has never openly stated that he is the whistleblower and most news outlets are not reporting his name publicly.

He was detailed to the National Security Counsel during the Obama Administration in 2015 and was allegedly sent back to the CIA in 2017, after a number of people within the Trump White House suspected him of leaking information to the press, according to several sources that spoke with SaraACarter.com.

Further, the detailed visitor logs reveal that a Ukrainian expert Alexandra Chalupa, a contractor that was hired by the Democratic National Committee during the 2016 election, visited the White House 27 times.

Chalupa allegedly coordinated with the Ukrainians to investigate then candidate Trump and his former campaign manager Paul Manafort. Manafort was forced out of his short tenure as campaign manager for Trump when stories circulated regarding business dealings with Ukrainian officials. Manafort was later investigated and convicted by a jury on much lesser charges than originally set forth by Robert Mueller's Special Counsel investigation. He was given 47 months in prison for basically failing to pay appropriate taxes and committing bank fraud.

Comment: See also: It's amazing how many non-scandals have exploded into major media affairs just because Trump. Meanwhile, the very real examples of corruption and dirty tricks - which have been standard operating procedure in U.S. politics for decades - rarely get media attention. For example, no one is pointing out the degree to which the United States interfered in the affairs of Ukraine before and during the Maidan revolution. That was the real scandal.
