The clash of realism and liberalism

Monopoly
We need to understand what is happening to us and around us. To do this, common sense is not enough; there must be methodologies. So, let us consider the SMO (the Special Military Operation in the Ukraine), in the context of a discipline like International Relations (IR).

There are two main schools of thought in international relations: realism and liberalism. These we will discuss, although there are others; but these two are the main ones. If you are not familiar with these theories, don't try to guess what is meant here by "realism" and "liberalism." The meaning of the terms is taken from the context.

Thus, realism in IR is based on the recognition of the absolute sovereignty of the nation state. This corresponds to the Westphalian system of international relations that emerged in Europe as a result of the 30 Years War that ended in 1648. Since then, the principle of sovereignty has remained fundamental to the system of International Law.

Israel wants apology from Russia over Hitler remark

Lavrov
© EurovisionRussian FM Sergey Lavrov
Israel has summoned the Russian ambassador, after Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov suggested that Adolf Hitler may have had some Jewish blood, and that the "most ardent" anti-Semites are Jews themselves. Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid tweeted on Monday:
"Foreign Minister Lavrov's remarks are both an unforgivable and outrageous statement as well as a terrible historical error. Jews did not murder themselves in the Holocaust. The lowest level of racism against Jews is to accuse Jews themselves of antisemitism."
Lapid said Israel expects an apology, and that the Russian ambassador was being summoned "for a tough talk."

Other Israeli officials expressed outrage over Lavrov's comments as well, including Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, who accused Russia's top diplomat of using the Holocaust "as a political tool." The Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem also denounced Lavrov's words as false and dangerous. Moscow has not commented on the matter.

Speaking to Italy's Mediaset media company on Sunday, Lavrov confirmed that one of the objectives of Russia's military campaign in Ukraine is the "denazification" of the country. A reporter mentioned that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is Jewish. Lavrov replied:
"I could be wrong, but Hitler, too, had Jewish blood in him. This means absolutely nothing. Wise Jewish people say the most ardent anti-Semites are usually Jews. Every family has a black sheep, as we like to say."

Comment: Russia offers observations the day after Israel crucified Russian FM Lavrov:
Israel supports neo-Nazis in Ukraine, the Foreign Ministry in Moscow claimed on Tuesday, a day after leaders in Jerusalem lambasted Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov for claiming Hitler had Jewish origins.

The accusation also came after the Israeli Foreign Ministry summoned Russian Ambassador to Israel Anatoly Viktorov to a meeting with Deputy Director-General for Eurasia Gary Koren, and the sides agreed to no longer discuss the matter in public, according to a diplomatic source.

Despite that, the Russian ministry said in a statement:
"Foreign Minister Yair Lapid's comments condemning Lavrov were 'anti-historical' and 'explaining to a large extent why the current Israeli government supports the neo-Nazi regime in Kyiv. For a long time now we've been hearing the wise Jewish people say that the biggest antisemites are the Jews themselves.'"
Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, in response to Lavrov, relayed his most explicit condemnation of a Russian official since the war on Ukraine began:
"Lies like these are meant to blame the Jews themselves for the most terrible crimes in history, which were committed against them, and thus free the oppressors of the Jews from their responsibility.

"As I've already said, no war today is the Holocaust nor is it like the Holocaust. The use of the Holocaust of the Jewish people as a political battering ram must be stopped immediately."
Israel waves its sword of judgement at other nations, but nary a scratch upon its own bias.

Kinzinger introduces AUMF to defend Ukraine if Russia uses chemical, biological, nuclear weapons

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) on Sunday introduced an authorization for use of military force (AUMF) resolution that, if passed, would authorize President Biden to utilize U.S. forces to defend Ukraine if Russia uses chemical, biological or nuclear weapons against its neighbor.

Kinzinger announced the joint resolution during an interview with moderator Margaret Brennan on CBS's Face the Nation. Asked if he thought it was too soon to be discussing potential use of force in Ukraine, Kinzinger said:
"No, I don't. I don't think we need to be using force in Ukraine right now. I just introduced an AUMF, an authorization for the use of military force, giving the president basically congressional leverage for permission to use it if WMDs, nuclear, biological or chemical are used in Ukraine."
The congressman said the AUMF would give Biden leverage, adding that the resolution could serve as a deterrent to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Comment: AUMF in Biden's hands: Ultimate power. Ultimate destruction.

German chancellor explains caution on arming Ukraine

Scholz/Zel
© Daily ExpressUkraine President Volodymyr Zelensky • German Chancellor Olaf Scholz
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has said that Berlin won't take the lead in sending heavy weapons and vehicles to Ukraine. Pressed to do so by officials in Kiev and from within his own government, Scholz insisted that he won't take any "hasty action" that could broaden the ongoing conflict.

Scholz told tabloid Bild am Sonntag in an interview published on Sunday.
"I make my decisions quickly and coordinate them with our allies. I am suspicious of hasty action and German solo efforts."
The newspaper noted that Scholz's phrasing indicates that as long as the United States and Germany's other major allies are not sending Western-made battle tanks to Ukraine, Germany will not stand out and send such armaments to President Volodymyr Zelensky's regime.

However, Scholz, a Social Democrat in office since December, has drawn intense criticism for not taking such a stand. Zelensky himself has asked Berlin to send armored vehicles and accused the German government of "earning [its] money in other people's blood" by continuing to buy Russian oil and gas. Meanwhile at home, Scholz's approval ratings have sunk, and members of his own government have publicly stated that Ukraine should be armed by the West, with no "excuses."

Comment: The strength of constraint is grossly undervalued.

Probes launched into 75 foreign 'mercenaries' in Ukraine - Russia

Bastrykin

Russia's Investigative Committee has launched at least 75 criminal probes into foreign "mercenaries" fighting against Russian forces in Ukraine, the committee's chairman, Alexander Bastrykin, told RT. He claimed that among the individuals are British, American, Norwegian, Canadian, and Georgian nationals.

In an interview published on Tuesday, Bastrykin said the Russian authorities had collected extensive evidence implicating these foreign fighters, and some have been captured by Russian troops, he added.

When asked to comment on the criminal investigations opened in Ukraine, as well as those opened by the International Criminal Court into a number of Russian officials, Bastrykin called the probes "obviously absurd and unlawful," citing cases in which the Ukrainian authorities accused Russian nationals of war crimes despite the fact that the individuals had apparently left the Russian Army long ago.

The head of the Investigative Committee revealed that his subordinates had countered these "unlawful" Ukrainian investigations by launching at least 14 of their own probes into the Ukrainian officials behind them.

Comment: Ukrainian POWs offer detailed descriptions of their country's crimes:
Russia is holding about 2,000 Ukrainian servicemen "who have voluntarily laid down their arms," including five brigade commanders who "were fighting against the Donbass population," the head of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin announced on Tuesday in an interview with RT.
"Everyone sees that Ukrainian servicemen, no matter how it sounds in the Western media and propagandist social media, prefer to surrender when a good opportunity arises. They understand the futility of resistance...offering many details about the circumstances of the Ukrainian regime's crimes."
The testimonies of those captured have provided the Russian authorities with information about the Ukrainian forces' work with foreign advisors, as well as about foreign mercenaries.

He mentioned a Georgian national who is said to have created an armed formation called Georgian National Legion on Ukrainian territory, which included at least 24 of his compatriots as mercenaries. Some of them also surrendered and were questioned by investigators.

Commenting on the reports of alleged torture of Russian prisoners of war by the Ukrainians, Bastrykin said that "a number of such crimes" are currently being investigated. He cited two examples of such incidents:
First, when the Ukrainians allegedly "systematically used physical violence" against several Russian servicemen whom they captured in Zaporozhye Region and "illegally held" for ten days. "They tried to beat information out of them about the progress of the special military operation," Bastrykin explained.

The second incident involved two groups of Russian soldiers who were captured in the Nikolayev Region and were allegedly also subject "to physical and psychological violence. There are always chances to determine those involved, because there are no crimes without traces."

Ukrainian authorities had previously stressed that the abuse of prisoners is a war crime and would not be tolerated. Ukrainian presidential adviser Alexey Arestovich commented on a video that seemed to show Russian POWs being tortured by members of Ukrainian forces:
"We are a European army, and we do not mock our prisoners... I would like to remind all our military, civilian and defense forces once again that the abuse of prisoners is a war crime that has no amnesty under military law and has no statute of limitations."
On Monday, the Ukrainian Human Rights ombudsman Lyudmila Denisova took to Telegram to accuse the Russian "occupiers" and "racists" of torturing Ukrainian soldiers captured in Mariupol. According to Denisova, the Ukrainians were "threatened with murder, beaten and humiliated" and deprived of water and medical assistance.

Sergey Glazyev: People badly understand what's going on

I will try to briefly explain and justify the necessary measures to achieve Victory.
Russia
© Stalker Zone Org
The special military operation revealed a plan prepared in advance by the US power and financial elite to seize power in Russia. It includes the following components and stages.

1. To exhaust the Russian armed forces in a war with well-trained and directly controlled by the Pentagon armed forces fighters, "stitched" by the nazi vertical of officers appointed by the intelligence agencies of the United States and Britain; to turn the population of Ukraine into zombies infected with Russophobia; at the same time, to turn the world community against Russia, bringing charges of war crimes and genocide against its leadership. On this basis, confiscate Russia's foreign currency assets and impose total sanctions against it, causing the maximum possible damage. This stage is actually completed.

2. To terrorise the Russian population by shelling border villages and military infrastructure facilities, sabotage of transport, hacker attacks; to affect the public consciousness with a stream of negative fake news and anti-government propaganda through social networks; to impose, through their agents of influence in the financial and economic authorities, the implementation of an economic policy blocking the mobilisation of resources, including: inflating interest rates, continuing the export of capital, encouraging monetary and financial speculation, manipulating the ruble exchange rate, inflating prices. Thus, to repeatedly aggravate the effect of sanctions and provoke a collapse in production and a decline in living standards. This stage is in full swing.

3. Provoking, against the background of falling living standards and losses during the special military operation, protest moods and destructive socio-political actions with the aim of overthrowing the legitimate government; the use of the entire arsenal of methods of organising "colour revolutions" financed by the Comprador oligarchy under the promise to unfreeze assets seized in the US-European jurisdiction; in parallel, the preparation of organisational and ideological foundations for separatist actions in the regions. This stage is under active development.

West Asia's economic savior is called 'multipolarity'

The transition from a western economic order toward a multipolar one is ushering in unprecedented economic and security advancements for West Asia.
West Asia
© The CradleWith Russia and Iran standing guard, and China's ambitious investments, West Asia must sever its western economic dependencies and race toward the riches of multipolarity.
A race is now underway that will determine the shape of things to come for many generations.

While it is easy to get lost in the swarm of chaotic facts, sound bites, narrative spin, and other noise, it is vital to keep sight of the larger historical forces shaping our present crisis-ridden age.

Two weeks ago, in an important exclusive interview for The Cradle, influential Russian economist Sergey Glazyev outlined the terms and operating principles quickly being brought online by the leading member states of the Greater Eurasian Partnership.

Glazyev laid out the fundamental principles upon which the new post-US dollar economic system will be based. Although some common unit will be agreed upon, it will not be based upon any particular currency as with the Bretton Woods order, but rather a market basket of local currencies tied more deeply to an array of real commodities such as gold and other precious metals, grain, hydrocarbons, sugar, etc.

Real science, not casino-economics

The difference between this system and the now defunct Anglo-American economic structures is that Glazyev's conception is based on real, tangible, measurable processes defining economic value among participants of the multipolar alliance.

This new paradigm of value stands in stark contrast to the post-1971 floating exchange rate system of rampant speculation and hyperbolically increasing rates of unpayable debts supporting decades of western economic malpractice.

Whereas one system justifies the increase of monetary flows within its system by speculative casino-logic devoid of any measurable improvement in the productive powers of labor, the opposing Eurasian system as described by Glazyev is very different. This multipolar system justifies economic growth, investment, and profit by activities that are tied to improving the conditions of life of people through practices tied to agro-industrial and scientific progress.

Hungarian FM Szijjarto: Hungary is 'unfairly' attacked over Russia

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has claimed that his country has been receiving unjustified attacks for being honest about its dependence on energy supplies from Russia.

"We're looking at this issue solely from the perspective of Hungarian national interests. We're not interested in what the East or the West thinks about it," Szijjarto said on Tuesday during a meeting with his Kazakh counterpart Mukhtar Tleuberdi.

"The real security of supplies is an issue for us because it's currently physically impossible to run the Hungarian economy without Russian oil."

The minister stressed that Hungary gets around 65% of its oil from Russia through the Druzhba (Friendship) pipeline.

Biden's 'Ministry of Truth' is the latest Deep State propaganda tool

The so-called proponents of freedom and democracy have given themselves the right to designate what the 'truth' is

US President Joe Biden's Department of Homeland Security announced last week that it had formed a "Disinformation Governance Board" to fight the spread of so-called disinformation on the Internet. While White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki didn't elaborate on how the bureau would operate, she suggested that it would monitor disinformation on topics like COVID-19 and elections.

Conservatives have often half-joked about George Orwell's 1984 becoming a reality, but it appears that the Biden administration has decided to literally take a page from the book and create a "Ministry of Truth".

Eight years ago in Odessa, the neofascist element in Ukrainian politics, then led by Dmitro Yarosh's Right Sector, burned to death, shot, and otherwise killed at least some 45 anti-Maidan regime picketers inside the Trade Union Building. The attack was coordinated by Right Sector and the then chairman of Ukraine's parliament Andriy Parubiy, a founder of a neo-Nazi party. There is video footage of Parubiy meeting with the leading Right Sector operative in Odessa the day before the same operative could be seen shooting at people in the burning Trade Union Building an talking by walkie-talkie as police and fire units stood by observing the carnage. I enclose in the appendix below a series of videotapes of the attack and other sources. Right Sector twice took 'credit' for the terrorist pogrom. The RS website's first claim of responsibility for the terrorist pogrom was effusive about the atrocity: "May 2, 2014 is another bright page in our national history." It claimed responsibility by noting that "about a hundred members of 'Right Sector' and patriotic-minded Odessa residents countered the rebels" and that "Dmitro Yarosh ignored the 'expedience' of the election campaign to coordinate the action against the Russian aggression."

Some background:
(Eugene Trofymenko, "ATO Po-narodnomu, Abo chomu ne Vladimir Putin ne vviv viyska," Pravyi Sektor, 2 May 2014, see also The New Terrorist Threat: Ukrainian Ultra-Nationalist and Neo-Fascist Terrorism at Home and Abroad ; http://pravyysektor.info/news/anons-richnytsi-2-travnya-v-odesi/; Ukraine's Neo-Fascist Right Sector Claims Responsibility Again for 2 May 2014 Terrorist Pogrom; http://pravyysektor.info/news/odesa-2-travnya-2014-ho-roku-zhadajmo-video/; and http://vesti-ukr.com/odessa/98618-na-kulikovom-pole-proshel-traurnyj-miting).
No one was ever prosecuted for the Odessa terrorist pogrom, and Dmitro Yarosh, whose organization claimed responsibility for "coordinating" the attack became a candidate for the Ukrainian presidency. He was never investigated or forced to go into hiding.
