"A pair of frontal systems with a significant tap of Pacific moisture will move through western Washington this weekend. They will bring heavy rain at times with the mountains receiving 4 to 8 inches of precipitation with locally higher amounts possible near Mount Rainier. Snow levels will remain high through Saturday before falling on Sunday as a cool upper level trough digs into the region. In addition to the precipitation, windy conditions at times are expected for much of the region." - NOAA Seattle, WA

Floodwater in Baghdad
The Iraqi capital's internally displaced have been swamped following heavy rains.

Flood waters are said to have carried away a three-year-old girl from a camp in Baghdad, while at least seven people are reported to have died nationwide.

Many of the one thousand people residing in al Amal camp now find their floors turned to mud. Ahmed Omar is among them.

"This is not fair," he said. "Parliament, officials, government, we are your people. We are your people, You sold us out."

The storm has left the Iraqi capital without a working drainage system, hampering basic services such as the supply of clean water.

Two families displaced by sinkhole in Seffner, Florida

Image
Sinkhole in Seffner
Families who were forced to evacuate their homes after a sinkhole opened Friday night in a yard off Clay Pit Road will not be allowed to move back in pending an assessment by an engineer.

Because the hole is on private property, it's the residents' responsibility to bring in a geotechnical engineer to check out the hole, said Jon-Paul Lavandeira, director of Hillsborough County's rapid response team. Until then, county officials will monitor the area.

They have asked residents to stay away from the depression, which has grown since the initial report that it was 27 feet deep and 22 feet wide, Lavandeira said Saturday afternoon, although he couldn't say how much. It has moved toward the home and duplex that were already evacuated, so no additional residents have been displaced, he added.
