Best of the Web: Multiple scientists: Coronavirus was altered in a lab to better attach to humans

laboratory microscope
Exclusive information. Multiple highly regarded scientists who have studied C0R0NAVlRUS say that the virus has been manipulated in labs to better attach to human cells.

Turns out, research on that very thing was conducted here in the United States until the research was banned in 2013. In 2014, the research appears to have resumed through funding to several labs in China through payments to Eco Health Alliance.

We break down the timeline.

Best of the Web: The myth of white privilege

British capitalism was built on the ruthless exploitation of wage slaves, not black slaves.

One of the main arguments of the Black Lives Matter movement is that the legacy of slavery continues to inform 'white privilege' and structural racism today. It is an argument that is both historically illiterate and wilfully disingenuous.

The truth is that there is no relationship between slavery and white privilege. Slavery benefitted the emerging capitalist class of the 17th, 18th and early 19th centuries and no one else. Contrary to the BLM narrative, the history of slavery - and its relationship to the emergence of modern capitalist society - provides powerful grounds for overcoming racism, not perpetuating it.

Best of the Web: Gaslighting the population: Two-metre rule reduced for pubs in Ireland 'IF customers leave after 90 minutes'

Restaurant
© Mark CondrenRestaurant Association of Ireland chief Adrian Cummins said halving the physical distancing rule would be a "game changer" for the industry.
Pubs and restaurants will be allowed to reduce social distancing to one metre if they limit patrons to just 90 minutes inside their premises, the Irish Independent can reveal.

Fáilte Ireland has said today they are pushing for this to be increased to at least two hours.

Comment: One shouldn't indulge the madness.

The organisation has indicated that guidelines for hospitality venues to be issued ahead of the next phase of reopening Ireland on June 29 will include a reduced physical distancing threshold "in certain circumstances".

Tara Kerry, registrar and accommodation development manager with Fáilte Ireland, said told RTÉ Radio One today: "That is in the document and it is one of the things that we are seeking clarity on because we don't know what 90 minutes has been founded on so we are advocating that that goes to two hour at the minimum.

Best of the Web: UCD professor Dolores Cahill fired from EU committee for speaking truth about Covid-19

Dolores Cahill promised to 'debunk' pandemic in interview with alt-right activist

A University College Dublin (UCD) professor, who chairs the Eurosceptic Irish Freedom Party, has been asked to resign from a leading European Union scientific committee over online claims she made about the Covid-19 pandemic.

In an hour-long interview with a popular alt-right activist on May 10th, which has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times, Prof Dolores Cahill promised to "debunk the narrative" of the pandemic.

Comment: It sounds like UCD is the only institution in Ireland with any balls. The rest of them are feckless yes-men scared of someone with a different opinion, cancelling their peers for wrong-speak.

Best of the Web: The 'Miracle of Salisbury': Script by the Guardian, directed by BBC

It turns out that the BBC really does believe that God is an Englishman. When the simple impossibility of the official story on the Skripals finally overwhelmed the dramatists, they resorted to Divine Intervention for an explanation - as propagandists have done for millennia.

This particular piece of script from Episode 2 of The Salisbury Poisonings deserves an induction in the Propaganda Hall of Fame:
Porton Down Man: I've got the reports from the Bailey house

Public Health Woman: Tell me, how many hits?

Porton Down Man: It was found in almost every room of the house. Kitchen, bathroom, living room, bedrooms. It was even on the light switches. We found it in the family car too. But his wife and children haven't been affected. I like to think of myself as a man of science, but the only word for that is a miracle.
Well, it certainly would be a miracle that the family lived for a week in the house without touching a light switch. But miracle is not really the "only word for that". Nonsense is a good word. Bullshit is a ruder version. Lie is entirely appropriate in these circumstances.

Authorities in Beijing have locked down residential compounds and fired officials over a new Covid-19 outbreak, as health officials warned the risk of the outbreak worsening was "very high".

On Monday, authorities announced 49 new cases, 36 of which were linked to the Xinfadi seafood supermarket in Beijing's southern Fengtai district. The wholesale market was closed on Saturday after it was identified as being at the centre of a new cluster of cases.

"The risk of the epidemic spreading is very high, so we should take resolute and decisive measures," Xu Hejian, a spokesman for the Beijing city government, said at a press briefing on Monday. On Sunday he said Beijing had entered "an extraordinary period".

As of Monday, a total of 21 residential communities, housing about 90,000 people, near Xinfadi as well as a second seafood market in Haidian district, where cases linked to Xinfadi were also confirmed, had been closed off. Residents have been ordered to quarantine at home and undergo tests for the virus.

Best of the Web: Corbett Report: Rosemary Frei on how the high death rate in Care Homes was created on purpose

Care Home Covid
© Unknown

Comment: This was first introduced by medical journalist, Rosemary Frei, writing for the OffGuardian, May 26, 2020. At the time, Rosemary Frei detailed the horrendous conditions in Care Homes in Ontario (possibly not so dissimilar to other areas around the world), along with the medical procedural and policy steps that helped to make it so. Here James Corbett conducts an excellent interview with Rosemary Frei.

Currently, as families come to grips with the loss of their loved ones from within these Care Homes, they are rightly asking 'who hath done this thing' to their very dear family members - who are also members of society, least we forget. Their questions of accountability are pouring in, including what is being discussed here by Rosemary Frei. Many others have similar stories.

The government-supported media are doubling down, deflecting these horrors back upon Care Home providers singularly, providers who were faced with near-impossible conditions thrust upon them (and obviously they bear responsibility). However, Care Home providers were mandated to follow their Health Ministry 'how to' policies that directed the outcome of this awful and unnecessary human story. This next question becomes; who wrote and demanded that these policies be followed and who (no pun intended) directed their hands in writing said policies?

In response to this carnage of the elderly and infirm, the best that a Canadian leader could come up with was: "It is deeply disturbing." Yes, most normal people would agree with the Prime Minister's statement, albeit for different reasons as they become more aware.

To date, almost all alleged Covid-19 deaths in Canada were from within Care Home facilities while hospitals remained largely empty.

Read the May 26th article by Rosemary Frei for background: Were conditions for high death rates at Care Homes created on purpose?

Rosemary Frei has an M.Sc in molecular biology from a faculty of medicine and was a freelance medical journalist for 22 years. She is now an independent journalist in Canada. In her recent article, "Were conditions for high death rates at Care Homes created on purpose?" she examines how all of the rules and guidelines pertaining to elderly care, death certification and treatment of bodies in Ontario have been changed during the course of this "crisis" in order to increase the numbers reported "dying of COVID." We discuss the reasons behind these changes and what they tell us about the real nature of this pandemic panic.

Comment: Note that Dr. Huyer was made responsible to report to the government back when those horrid Wettlaufer murders took place. As Rosemary Frei reminds, Huyer's report (affidavit) discussed transparency in Care Homes, including investigation responsibilities: 'death investigations'. Thereafter, and as discussed in the above interview, policies Huyer helped create for Covid washed away any transparency. Death became a non-investigation if Covid could be made the claim. Having a runny nose was a claim...

Best of the Web: UNHRC joins pile-on against US police's 'systemic racism,' but US military makes police brutality look like amateur hour

military police
© Reuters / Brian Snyder
The UN Human Rights Council has joined the worldwide protests taking aim at racism and police brutality among US police forces. But where are these voices when the US military kills millions in the Middle East and Africa?

Burkina Faso, speaking on behalf of 54 African nations, requested an urgent debate on "racially motivated human rights violations" - specifically systemic racism and police brutality - in the US, and the UNHRC has agreed to hold the debate on Wednesday. But compared with what US military policy has wrought on the populations of the Middle East and northern Africa, police killings are a blip on the radar.

The UNHRC debate is the latest grand public statement in the wake of the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis last month, and speaks to a growing disconnect between what has become a laser-focus on US policing and awareness of the much greater harms caused by Washington's foreign policy - harms that are just as racialized, if not more so, but which mysteriously fly under the radars of activist groups.

Best of the Web: 'Conservative' US Supreme Court advances Democratic agenda with radical transgender, guns & immigration decisions

Comment: And just like that, Trump's 2017 efforts are completely undone...

gorsuch pencce mcconnell

The Supreme Court has extended employment protections to gay, lesbian and transgender employees, and tossed out landmark border control and gun rights cases, all seen as massive setbacks for US conservatives.

Many Republicans have long held that despite the liberal bias of the media and the left-wing activism dominating the streets, their real power came from their hold over the US judicial branch.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) is one of these Republicans, and was willing to place his political career on the line to hold the late Justice Antonin Scalia's seat open during the last months of the Obama administration, so he could replace Scalia with a suitably right-leaning judge once President Donald Trump took office.

Comment: Some 'dictator'.

The appointment of Gorsuch, some may remember, was the first 'hot potato' issue Trump had to fight for back in 2017.

He got his way, followed by another conservative appointment in Justice Kavanaugh, but it turns out that none of that mattered.

The 'transhumanist', multi-culturalist, anti-tradition ideology has so thoroughly saturated the body politic that a 'conservative' Supreme Court in the US can out-flank even the radically-leftist Democratic Party.

This is all one way traffic now, and there is nothing bar asteroid impacts that can stop it.

Best of the Web: Class, not race, divides America

class warfare
Nothing is stranger in these tense days than the monotony of the inexact and non-descriptive mantra of "white privilege" and "white solidarity" — as if there is some monolithic white bloc, or as if class matters not at all.

In truth, the clingers, the deplorables, the irredeemables, and Joe Biden's "dregs" have very little in common with those who so libel them, but superficially share supposedly omnipotent and similar skin color.

In the past, we saw such tensions among so-called whites in CNN's reporting of the allegedly toothless rubes at Trump rallies, in the Strzok-Page text trove about Walmart's smelly patrons, in the callous coastal disregard for the five-decade wasting away of the American industrial heartland, in the permissible elite collective disparagement of Christian evangelicals, and in the anthropological curiosity about and condescension toward such exotic, but presumably backward, Duck Dynasty and NASCAR peoples.

As a result, we have reached the surreal point at which the nation's privileged whites on campuses such as Harvard, Yale, and Stanford, in the top echelon of politics, and the corporate and entertainment worlds, all deplore in the abstract something they call "white privilege" in others who have never really experienced it.
