Best of the Web: In brave new America, leaders kneel and looters are saluted. What will the Democrats conjure up next?

senators kneeling congress
'Hail Satan'
Events are now in the saddle and riding Americans. In most cases, the authors of those events - from harsh anti-Covid measures, to rioting and lawlessness - derive from the liberal left. How far are they prepared to go?

It would be difficult to name a more action-packed six months than the first half of 2020. From Russiagate to riots, Americans feel like blindfolded passengers on a roller-coaster ride, totally unprepared for the corkscrew curves and dizzying dives ahead. All they can do is scream and hold on for dear life.

The worst part of this amusement-park hellscape, however, is not the news per se, but how US leaders - specifically Democrat leaders - are responding to it. Consider, for example, the lockdown measures implemented in response to Covid-19. While most people begrudgingly accepted the need for quarantine, masks and social distancing, Democratic leaders piled on additional pain that did nothing to stop the spread of the coronavirus. In fact, the measures seemed tailor-made - like a form-fitting straitjacket - to drive their imprisoned constituents crazy. How else to explain the ban on mowing lawns, swimming in the ocean, and using a motorboat on an empty lake?

Best of the Web: The Politically Driven Cult of Mass Hypnosis Has Just Accelerated

mass hypnosis
Over the past several decades Americans have viewed regularly televised dramatic episodes of political theater. The use of the word "episode" is especially appropriate because the dramatic scenes are sequential and continuously broadcasted onto electronic screens. The drama is designed to elicit emotion, foment anger, and unite or divide the nation in order to, ultimately, affect change.

The societal cataclysms we're experiencing now could be naturally occurring - as the result of certain trends like demographics, technology, modernization, education, centralization, economic inequality, political platforms, or even systemic corruption and civilizational decay. On the other hand, it could be the upheavals are directed in consonance with scripts written by an inner circle of powerful people; and in accordance to the Hegelian Dialectic. How citizens view the changes realized by the United States over the last few decades, in particular, will depend upon their interpretations of probabilities and outcomes; or, rather, to the extent they believe in coincidence or conspiracy.

Many believe grand conspiracies are implausible because ambitious schemes so often fail and it's inconceivable that scrupulous whistleblowers would refuse to expose the plans of powerful conspirators. And these objections have a ring of truth... unless, of course, the powerful few have only advanced those who've demonstrated allegiance while shunning, banishing, imprisoning, or "expiring" those who won't fall in line. Perhaps this would explain why the likes of Brennen, Clapper, Comey, and McCabe continue about their book tours as Assange, Manafort, and Stone remain under lock and key.

Best of the Web: WHO does a 180, now says asymptomatic spread of coronavirus 'very rare'

Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove WHO
The corrupt World Health Organization did a complete 180 on Monday.

The WHO is now admitting that asymptomatic spread of the Coronavirus is "very rare."

For months, the world was told to stay home and if you dare go out in public, wear a mask and stay 6 feet away from each other.

For months, the world was told that the Coronavirus would kill millions in the US alone because the virus would be difficult to contain due to asymptomatic transmission and infections.

Now WHO officials are saying asymptomatic spread of COVID-19 is "very rare."

Best of the Web: Undercover Investigation - Minneapolis Riot Was Preplanned

minneapolis riot
What you are about to see is part of a two year undercover investigation into the leftist radicalization imbedded within the climate justice movement that contributed to the riots in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In this first video, we are going to show how the Sunrise Movement played a preemptive role in carrying out the mayhem to further push their Green New Deal agenda and promoting the abolition of the police.

Best of the Web: Do French Lives Matter? Where was the outrage when police were maiming protesters in France?

yellow vest protests
The brutal police killing of George Floyd has sparked waves of protests not only in the United States but also in the form of solidarity demos in Europe. In the UK, thousands defied the lockdown to march in London, while hundreds also protested in Manchester and Cardiff. The killing of Floyd, the subsequent protests and riots and the police brutality meted out against demonstrators have all received copious attention in the UK from the media, celebrities, politicians and more.

What is striking in this sudden outpouring of protest is how much it contrasts with the total indifference to the police violence which was, not long ago, on display week in, week out practically on our doorstep. I'm talking, of course, about the yellow-vest protests in France. The gilets jaunes revolt was the most significant and sustained period of unrest in France since 1968. But the protests themselves garnered disproportionately little media attention. And the many acts of police violence against the protesters raised barely any comment or condemnation whatsoever. The perception of a media blackout was so strong that fake-news stories spread online saying that the British government had actually banned our press from covering the gilets jaunes.

Best of the Web: Coping with chaos: Societal collapse and mass psychosis

yeats second coming
Right now I think many people have the sense that society is coming apart at the seams. It's like the famous WB Yeats poem, "The Second Coming":
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
Yeats's Second Coming is not an event to be celebrated. It is not Christ, but the great Sphinx of Giza, who is lumbering toward civilization, with nothing good on its mind.
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?
In the past few months we've seen mass hysteria over a virus that, according to the CDC's "best estimate," has a lethality rate of 0.26%. (That's 0.4% of those with symptoms, adjusted for the CDC's estimate of 35% infected without symptoms.) Then we saw new hysteria over a suspect who died in police custody and whose death was captured on video. George Floyd's death should not have happened, but the officer responsible has already been charged and is being held in custody, so what exactly does "justice for George Floyd" represent? A lynching? Perhaps. In any event, the tragedy is being used to justify looting, arson, murder, and the destruction of inner-city neighborhoods that won't be rebuilt for a generation, if ever. In the meantime, so-called "medical authorities" are telling us that, while the virus makes it incredibly dangerous to gather together for a picnic or sports event, it is not only safe but morally necessary to assemble for protests.

Best of the Web: The Silence of the lambs: Why are the churches still shut?

closed church
This piece is written exclusively with Christians in mind. Atheists and those of other religions are of course welcome to peek in through the window, and in fact part of me suspects that many who do, though disagreeing with the theology, will perhaps see the points being made more clearly than many of our national church leaders.

Never before in the history of the church have so many churches been shut for this long. Never before in the history of the church have God's people failed to meet together in such great numbers for so long. Never before in 2,000 years of church history has the Lord's Supper been suspended for so long for so many.

After weeks of this startling situation, we have started to hear a few murmurings from one or two prominent church leaders. However, most of it is so insipid that it bears the same sort of resemblance to John and Peter's declaration to the Sanhedrin in Acts 5 — "We must obey God rather than men" — as Boris Johnson and Matt Hancock's arbitrary and irrational rules bear to the Declaration of Independence.

Comment: The churches don't or won't say anything because if they do, they would have to actually call out this infernal situation for what it is: a cult of worship to The Darkness...

Best of the Web: The Media Are Lying To You About Everything, Including The Riots

riots
It seems no great event or upheaval in our national life can pass now without the media lying to our faces about it.

They lied about the Trump campaign colluding with Russia in 2016. They lied about the Mueller probe and Brett Kavanaugh and former national security adviser Mike Flynn. They lied about Trump's phone call with the Ukrainian president and the impeachment farce that ensued. They lied about the coronavirus and the lockdowns and the White House response. And now they're lying about the riots.

In recent days we've heard a steady drumbeat of lies, distortions, and disingenuousness from the mainstream media about almost every aspect of the unrest now gripping American cities. The deceit is almost too pervasive and amorphous to describe, but I'm going to try anyway.

Over the weekend we were told, for example, that the looting and violence was being instigated not by left-wing anarchists and antifa groups but by the media's favorite villains: white supremacists. CNN, whose Atlanta offices were vandalized Friday, went on and on — without a shred of evidence to back it up — about how white supremacists might be infiltrating the protests and stirring up trouble. The New York Times, in a report that even quoted a senior police official in New York City saying outside anarchist groups were coordinating mayhem before the protests began, nevertheless veered into a long aside about how far-right "accelerationists" were hoping the unrest would bring about a long-sought second civil war.

Best of the Web: The businesses who are plugging their woke cred by supporting the Antifa and BLM riots

looting target store
Rioters, probably Black Lives Matter, destroying a Target cashier's station.
We want to give a hat tip to Ashley Rae Goldenberg, who posted the following piece on Medium. Ms Goldberg lists 279 companies who are on record as supporting Black Lives Matter / Antifa / protesters / riots. This is so that the public can make informed decisions about what businesses to patronize, especially if said public does NOT support the rioting and the extremely left-leaning elitism on display. For many of us, the propensity of leftist activists to use anything, even the death of a man, to promote their views is disgusting. A good way for businesses to discover this and get their alignment right is to boycott them.

Comment: Medium has since suspended Ms. Goldenberg's page.

The list includes an archive link that shows what the company named actually said. One can exercise their own good judgement about what they wish to support through their dollars.

So, here is the list, and what Ashley has to say about it, with our own emphasis added.

Comment: And there's more...

Bank of America pledged $1 billion over 4 years to Black Lives Matter.

Wal-Mart pledged $100 Million to 'the movement', and its employees were instructed by its CEO that they must not only comply with Walmart's internal and external changes but must believe in them "authentically and more deeply."

Facebook pledged $10 million to 'racial justice campaigns'.

Money going to BLM's main fund (the "Black Lives Matter Global Fund") goes through ActBlue, which is purportedly a DNC money-laundering group.

Best of the Web: 'Not enough' - Massachusetts police chief expresses solidarity with BLM protesters by lying FACE DOWN on the street

Michael Shaw black lives matter
© Twitter/@Candymudge
A police chief in Massachusetts joined a large crowd of protesters by lying face down on the pavement Saturday amid increased tensions between law enforcement and demonstrators throughout the U.S. following the death of George Floyd.

Urged by the chanting of several hundred people during the Black Lives Matter demonstration, Webster Police Chief Michael Shaw participated and laid face down on the pavement for over eight minutes, as the crowd was heard yelling: "Thank you chief. Thank you chief."

"It's not enough, but it's a start!" one demonstrator also shouted towards the end of the symbolic act, according to the Telegram & Gazette.
