Lightning bolt makes healer of Indonesian village boy

© ReutersMuhammad Ponari, who locals believe possesses healing powers, dips his "magic stone" into a bottle of water.
Mohammad Ponari was, until last month, a typical kid in the impoverished East Java village of Balongsari. Then, quite literally, lightning struck.

The nine-year-old, who had been playing in the rain in his front yard, was hit by the thunderbolt but, to the astonishment of his young friends, he was unharmed.

All the more bizarre, according to an account by his village chief and his family, when he came to, he found a stone the size of an egg on his head, and was convinced he possessed healing powers.

A boy next door with a fever was his first patient. The stone was placed in a glass of water and the boy drank deeply. His fever vanished.

Then another neighbour approached him, a woman in her 30s who had suffered from a depressive condition for 15 years. She, too, was healed.

The miracles, large and small, kept coming, said Nila Retno, the local village chief.

Mysterious wingless objects, which appeared to be travelling at high speed, have been spotted in the sky over Shoreham.

Nick Middleton saw what initially appeared to be a flock of birds flying south down The Drive, Shoreham, at 2.30pm on Sunday, March 1.

However, when he looked more carefully he realised the six to 10 objects he saw were anything but birds.

Mr Middleton said: "Normally you can see the odd wing flap etc.

"I could not make out any form of wings such as a plane shape or even a helicopter.

Dr. Lynne Kitei, writer and producer of an award winning documentary on the Phoenix Lights, unveiled at the recent International UFO Congress a project to utilize Google Earth to document reports of the events of March 13, 1997. As the Google Earth Phoenix Lights geotemporal database is developed, it will eventually be brought online to allow 3D web browsing and comparison viewing of the events of the night - the more incredible of which have thus far gone unreported.

The truly significant events that night were a variety of Very Large Objects (VLO) that exhibited flight characteristics both too fast and too slow--and too silent--to be the result of any known aerodynamic and propulsion system.

A silent V-shaped craft with "five or six lights under each wing" moved across Colorado skies near Boulder on Feb. 28, while a blue "streak of light" caught a witness's attention near Brighton, Colorado at 6:24 p.m. In Kentucky, a black disc was spotted at a height of 40 feet - hovering, silent and "wobbling" - until it shot off quickly. In Michigan, a hovering craft began rotating and then moved slowly across a freeway toward an airport. Three lights appeared in the New Jersey sky just as the witnesses' street lights went out, then the sky lit up blue and "everything around us was blue."

Following are the unedited witness accounts from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.

US: Paranormal investigators scrutinize Slippery Rock theater, Pennsylvania

University staff have a haunting suspicion

It's not unusual for Slippery Rock University theater professor David Skeele to hear footsteps behind him as he stands on stage in the school's Miller Auditorium, only to turn around to see that nobody's there.

Those and other incidents have convinced scores of Slippery Rock students and professors that someone is haunting the theater, most likely university trustee Emma Guffey Miller, who died in 1970.

Last night, a team of paranormal investigators staked out the theater to find out.

US: A haunting in Dumfries, Virginia

A woman went to the Weems-Botts Museum in Dumfries last summer to inquire about historical photos. She saw a docent dressed in a Victorian-era costume looking out of a second floor window.

She then went up to the front door and peered through a window, seeing the same docent walk down the stairs and into a side room. She knocked on the door.
When the docent didn't answer the door, the woman left and called the museum office to complain.

"She was justifiably concerned and upset," said Emma Young, administrative assistant for Historic Dumfries, Virginia, Inc., which manages the museum.

The annoyed visitor came back several days later and spoke to Beth Cardinale, Historic Dumfries administrator. They soon figured out that the woman had gone to the wrong building - the 260-year-old museum building instead of the office building next door - and that there had not been a docent in the museum at that time of her visit.
