Last week, however, the question was finally answered. The sturdy and tough Canadian Maple tree fell in plain sight. Its fall barely made a sound. Democracy ended overnight - with little to no fuss, and some encouragement from neighbours and friends. To deal with an old fashioned, "grease under your fingernails" workingman's protest, Trudeau, Canada's Prime Minister, invoked the Emergencies Act on the 14th of February.

Barely a week later, his party, with the support of the New Democratic Party, a Far Left organisation, ganged up to pass the measure by 185 votes to 151.

The Conservatives and Bloc Québécois voted against the use of the sweeping enforcement measures, accusing the prime minister of overreach in forcing the issue, but Trudeau turned the country to Marshall Law.

An overstatement, surely?

The Canadian government granted itself powers it did not have two weeks ago. These include the power to impose restrictions on public assembly and travel, to mobilise federal support for local and provincial police, impose fines on violations of the act, whatever that might mean in practice.

Modern social justice in all of its forms is communism. The political left doesn't want to admit it openly, but there is no way around it and there is no debate. Some would call it "cultural Marxism," but the bottom line is that there is no such thing as a legitimate social justice movement in the west because by law all people regardless of their ethnic circumstances are equally protected. You could say that SJWs are rebels without a cause, but I would point out that "social justice" is not their real cause. They aren't really interested in equality, they are interested in control.

There is a classic playbook for communist sabotage of a target society, and one of the first tactics is always the destruction of that society's history and symbols. When Mao Zedong announced the birth of the "Cultural Revolution" in China in 1966, his goal was to disrupt growing discontent among the Chinese people with the broken promises of the communist regime. Only 8 years earlier in 1958 Mao had initiated the "Great Leap Forward," which was a purge of his political opponents as well as a massive population reduction program that used food as a weapon. After the deaths of over 65 million Chinese citizens, Mao sought to redirect public anger by scapegoating a supposed conspiracy of "capitalists and imperialists."

The Cultural Revolution was essentially a nationwide witch hunt spearheaded by rabid and ignorant children; people easy for the government to manipulate and exploit. They scoured their own towns and cities as spies and enforcers for the CCP, looking for any signs that their neighbors were part of the conspiracy to disrupt the communist collective. They held tribunals and struggle sessions where anyone who said the wrong thing or who angered the wrong person was publicly humiliated or even murdered as "insurrectionists" by a mob of communist zealots.

UK ignored 'sex for aid' scandal victims - watchdog

The UK government has failed to listen to victims of "sex for aid" scandals despite its efforts to address abuse in the humanitarian sector, an independent watchdog has said.

The report, released on Thursday by the Independent Commission for Aid Impact (ICAI), claims that the "top-down" approach taken by government officials falls short of what is required, because recipients of aid are not listened to and might remain reluctant to report abusive behavior.

ICAI said the UK "has played an important role in galvanising international action on protecting people from sexual exploitation and abuse in humanitarian crises," but its commissioner Sir Hugh Bayley criticized officials for the system used.

The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter James on Thursday offloaded approximately 54,500 pounds of cocaine and 15,800 pounds of marijuana worth approximately $1.06 billion at Port Everglades.

The drugs were interdicted in international waters of the Eastern Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea during 23 separate interdictions of suspected drug smuggling vessels by crews from the U.S. Coast Guard, Navy, and international partners.

James' 90-day patrol set new records for the largest single cocaine interdiction, at 10,915 pounds and worth $206.4 million, and the largest single marijuana interdiction, at 3,962 pounds worth $3.59 million.

The European and US leaderships have been called out on their "hypocrisy" by a veteran investigative journalist and filmmaker, John Pilger.

Pilger, who is known for his critical outlook on the UK, US, and Australian foreign policy, referred to the situation in the Eastern Ukraine, where the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics have been fighting for self-determination for the past eight years, suffering from a violent conflict with the Kiev regime.

When talk turns to pulling the plug on international broadcasters operating in any realm, then things have certainly turned serious. But if the UK broadcast regulator Ofcom is seriously considering shutting down RT, it should be making that decision on its own, not with politicians wading in, arms flailing, making all sorts of demands.

We all marvel about having all those TV channels to choose from, hundreds of them beaming in from around the globe to our living rooms. Yet, paradoxically, we channel surf every night and still complain about finding nothing to watch.

But - and this is the important thing - at least we have that baffling choice, and it is not only a technological miracle but a tribute to the wonders of the information age we live in. No longer restricted to terrestrial, cable, or satellite, we can watch pretty much anything straight from the internet.

Yes, it's confusing. Yes, there is a load of dross. And yes, there are views expressed that we might not agree with. But at least we have the option to choose, and that is the beauty, not just of the democracy we live in, but of the high regard in which we hold the right to freedom of speech.

Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston said on Wednesday that the remaining restrictions in the province will be lifted on March 21 if all things "Stay on course."

Houston, during a press conference said:
"This is significant, and I know as much as this is the news so many have been waiting for there are many, many others who are extremely nervous by that news. But no matter what emotions you are experiencing, right now we can all agree that this has been a long, long run."
The province currently has 11 people in ICU, with 49 in hospital.

Houston continued:
"We know that COVID-zero is not a reality. Certainly not right now... Living with COVID, that's the reality, that has to become our new reality, and I know and I respect that that's a scary thought for some Nova Scotians."
Houston said that this announcement, in many ways, was a start on the road to normalcy. He said that the proof of vaccine system has served its purpose, but it was a temporary measure whose time has come.

Nova Scotia has one of the highest vaccination rates in the world for any jurisdiction, with over 92 percent having received at least one dose. 86 percent have received at least two doses.

Legislation in Florida would require high school students to take a financial literacy test in order to graduate.

"It is critical we set Florida students up for financial success and this legislation will ensure vital financial literacy resources are available to students before graduation. Financial literacy is an important key to a strong financial future and learning the basics of credit, budgeting, savings, and investing, can further prepare students for a successful future," Jimmy Patronis, Florida Chief Financial Officer, said in a statement, according to WFLA.

The bill, HB 1115, was unanimously approved by the Florida House PreK-12 Appropriations Subcommittee on Wednesday, Fox 13 reported. It needs approval from the House Education & Employment Committee before it can go to the House floor.

Comment: Time to bring back Home Economics in high school. It was always more than just cooking. Students used to be taught household budgeting, managing bank accounts and time management.

Two teenage boys were arrested Monday in connection to the cold-blooded killing of three Detroit family members, including a 5-year-old boy who was reportedly shot execution-style.

The victims were discovered dead on Sunday by a relative who stopped by their home after not hearing from the family for weeks, police said.

The boy, identified by family as Caleb Harris, was shot twice in his face, his grandmother, Shalesa Floyd, told Click on Detroit.

Iceland to lift ALL Covid lockdown restrictions, says natural herd immunity only solution to pandemic

Iceland will lift all remaining COVID-19 restrictions on Friday, including a 200-person indoor gathering limit and restricted opening hours for bars, the Ministry of Health said on Wednesday.

"Widespread societal resistance to COVID-19 is the main route out of the epidemic," the ministry said in a statement, citing infectious disease authorities.

"To achieve this, as many people as possible need to be infected with the virus as the vaccines are not enough, even though they provide good protection against serious illness," it added.


Comment: There's no significant evidence that the experimental jabs help prevent serious illness. In fact, the data is showing that the vaccinated are suffering repeat infections, the injections compromise the immune system overall, and more people are being struck with severe side effects than severe illness from the coronavirus itself.


Comment: It's pretty clear by now that The Science™ differs depending on what kind of characters are in power, because in France, Italy, and Germany, apartheid still reigns with the jab-free being treated like second-class citizens.

Meanwhile Poland's Prime Minister announced that the country will drop most lockdown restrictions. Although, bizarrely, it intends to keep one of the most nonsensical and perverse of them all, the mask mandates:
Poland will remove most COVID-19 restrictions from March 1, while keeping the obligation to wear face masks, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said Wednesday.

"After medical consultations and watching what's happening in other countries we can introduce far-reaching changes in our restrictions policy," Morawiecki told reporters.
