Briefly stated, the Gell-Mann Amnesia effect is as follows. You open the newspaper to an article on some subject you know well... You read the article and see the journalist has absolutely no understanding of either the facts or the issues. Often, the article is so wrong it actually presents the story backward—reversing cause and effect...
In any case, you read with exasperation or amusement the multiple errors in a story, and then turn the page to national or international affairs, and read as if the rest of the newspaper was somehow more accurate about Palestine than the baloney you just read. You turn the page, and forget what you know.

I wish this could be broadcast far and wide. I was also suprised at Aljazeera's treatment, they were of course playing the game before but this time they really jumped off the fence.
NB. Typo in headline
Hard Turth?
Look at the rise and fall of all these empires as they build up and prop up local 'leaders' or dictators and later kill them off when direct control is desired instead. It's the usual sign of the end approaching as greed takes hold like a virus they can't control and don't even wish to.
Syria, Libya etc... all small minority led govts that aren't known for their 'democratic' methods of maintaining control. Many 'bleeding heart' types get sucked into this call for justice and fail to see the truth of the regime/system they are trying to protect. It's a blindness that affects many 'do-gooders' in a reverse pattern to those seeking to 'do bad'.
Gaddafi's time was up, simple. The global imperial forces desired direct expansion and will continue to do so until stopped, one way or the other and I have yet to see a beloved leader among any of them. Many people after the fall of the Soviet Union talked openly about the 'good' of the old regime as it lay in shatters as the new one struggled to emerge out of its ashes. These people either didn't have relatives murdered by its leaders or were 'true believers' living in a fantasy land of the systems' creation in which they willingly participated. Ignorance doesn't make it true. Did that system prove beneficial to some of them? No doubt, but as usual, the adage 'the ends justify the means' is listed as the reason for any 'discomfort' by the masses not shown any benefit, which the true believers seem never to have heard discussed with the word -doesn't- in the middle of that adage.
Was NATO lying? Of course, when don't the puppets lie to their people? All accounts to the contrary are usually encountered in propaganda best staged by the experts, which Hollywood etc are well known for. But even then, the truth can be discerned if heard, and I for one, haven't heard any good songs come out of this latest march of empire building, just the same BS as usual. That's a definite sign when the people don't sing well.
IMO, as the end of this puppet show nears completion, all the puppets have to get in their proper order of alignment, which creates some degree of discomfort for all involved. In essence, Lizzy needs a broader understanding of history, some context for this content which gets repeated everywhere, everytime this happens, and doesn't change for a reason.... those in control don't like change. That has always been the aristocratic attitude. There are always 'do-gooders' that see only what they came to see and report one half of the evil while blind to the other half. Such a tango in disease is best left to those seeking infection.
Of course, it's truth... part of it, and that's always the problem.
Read again the picture of the day: "if you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing. Malcom X"
She makes a brave testimony of what she lived as a journalist who was present on the scene !
But most people just won't stomach the anti-imperialist rhetoric of old-time Russia. I don't care if it has a core of truth. Most propaganda does. But it is still propaganda.
These ideological constructs were created to keep people at each others throats. Those who created them couldn't care less about ideology. And those who wish to actually DO SOMETHING about this conflict should dispense with the rhetoric. At this point, it is not helpful.
