I wrote this article and published it on suite 101; it is copyrighted to me. You have republished it without permission, and now Google is directing readers to this site instead of mine to read it. That means I make no income on it - you are stealing my living! Please could you remove my article from your site.

Thank you for responding so promptly to my request - it is much appreciated! And yes, it wasn't plagiarism, it was copyright violation. One million readers is great, but I wrote the article to generate income for me! My primary source was actually the original research paper summary, which can be read at

I referenced the psychology today article because I included a quote from the author. Thank you for understanding that copyright protection is very important to writers like myself, and that traffic directed to my article on your site means loss of income for me.

My title still up?

My article title and intro is still on google under your site's url, so still serves to push my original down the ranks. I know many big sites don't think this matters, but it is clearly stated at the bottom of my article "contact the author for republication". If you wanted to publish a 50 word quote and a link, this would more than make up for it - you are a big site, yes, and have much more google-pull than I do.
Otherwise, would you kindly remove the title as well.

Is the author paid by google ranking or by how many hits it receives on it's parent site? If that is the case, a simple disclaimer by the editors to invite the reader to click the headline which will direct the reader to the source site would suffice. Otherwise, I fail to see the author's problem with the extended exposure that being netted by this site would bring.

I am not passing judgement on this, I am simply trying to find how this "copyright infringement" is any different than if I had linked this article via my twitter page (if I had one).

Again, I state I do not claim to know how Suite 101 pays it's contributors, but after reading the author's profile on the page who is a full-time teacher, "stealing my living" seems a tad overstated, and I find it sad that such an issue has hampered the possibility of some commentary from these readers about a fascinating subject.

That being said, I still respect the wishes of the author and wish her all the best in her endeavours.

Thank you for taking the time to continue to engage. I feel a bit embarrassed at the tone of my original comment actually - it was, as you said, a tad overstated. Sorry. Suite 101 (the parent site) pays me revenue from number of page views combined with adsense revenue. The Suite copyright rules permit other sites to quote up to 50 words of articles and a link to the original, but if a site prints the article in full that violates the terms and, in practise, means that the page views and adsense revenue (if enabled) goes to the republishing site and not to me - because if the full article can be read on the other site, there is no need for anyone to go to the original. No, it's not really my living - but it is an income stream, and one I work for. Nonetheless I recognise that was not your intention.
I would be completely delighted if you would publish a 50 word quote and a link to the original, but if not - maybe it's too late now - I would also be more comfortable if you didn't have my original knee-jerk comment coming up on google under the article heading - which is now right next to my original article on the google page for psychic news lol
Yes it's a shame the chance for reader commentary was lost. Perhaps we can salvage it?
